Re: The City of Garal(anyone)
"I don't know, maybe because it's so similar to my own fire power."(OoC: I can't think of how else to put it without the Mario cliche XD ) BiC: Joe contemplated for a minute and that was the only explanation he could find. "Well, the wings might help. What exactly can they do? I'm somewhat of a scientist, I study magic and inventions, look at my library." Joe pointed at the immense amount of books on the shelf. "But It's time to fight, do what you can without killing townsfolk. Okay?"
Joe looked apprehensive of her reaction due to his fear for the town. |

Re: The City of Garal(anyone)
"I can try," I replied dryly. His concern for his people was understandable, and that worried me all the more. If I was lucky, I'd be able to get along just fighting with my staff, but if I had to use fire...No, that wasn't even an option. I couldn't repeat the same mistakes I had made in the past, not with so much at stake. "And as for my wings, they do what all wings do: they allow me to fly. Now, what plan do you have in mind?"

Re: The City of Garal(anyone)
"Hm, your flying adds a great advantage....I think I might be able to come up with something."
Joe ran into his study and began to draw up a plan. "Okay, Leonna, my plan is for one of two things. One: you can lift me up to the top of the castle balcony, which is where they've set up station or two: you can fly up and open the door for me from the inside by going into the top. Do you think you can lift me?" Joe asked, noticing also how pretty her wings made her look.... |

Re: The City of Garal(anyone)
Ooc: I hate to be nitpicky and all, but could you describe the setting a little more? I still have little idea of what Joe's house looks like, and the city as well. If that crapms your style or something, I don't mind if you don't.
Bic: "Well," I replied, clasping my hands together thoughtfully, "I cannot say that I have ever attempted to lift another person, but I can certainly try. Your first idea does sound better, though a quieter entrance may give us an advantage. I know not the number of men you intend to fight against, and going against too many at once could end up badly."

Re: The City of Garal(anyone)
"Maybe, but quiet is good. The first one is quieter, the men are imbeciles. If we take them out a few at a time and with no magic we should take them out quickly while making no noise. But if you have to break in it could get loud. So, try me, let's see if you can lift me," Joe said, bracing himself.
OoC: sorry, I'm not a very good description person. |

Re: The City of Garal(anyone)
I silently sized the man up, taking note of his heavy golden armor and muscular stature. "This is not going to be simple. I'm going to need some room to test my strength; the ceiling is much too low here (Ooc: I'm just guessing that cause' I don't really know. Bic: ). Even if I can lift you, such a sight would arouse our enemy's attention, would it not?"

Re: The City of Garal(anyone)
"Hm, I've thought about that....Let's go behind my house and see how easy it is? We can easily go around the back of the castle and fly up the back. But I don't know.....Let's see," Joe said, leading the way through the kitchen and out into the back yard.
OoC: BTW, it's only a plate of gold. |

Re: The City of Garal(anyone)
I followed the man with an unsettling queasiness settling down inside of my stomach. What if I couldn't lift him? If we had to break in instead, how much worse would our chances be?
At least the daylight outside appeared hopeful. The sun was shining outside as happily as ever, seeming entirely unaware of the carnage that had occured. Even the man's golden plate shone cheerfully in its new setting, appearing ready as ever for battle. "Shall I try?" I asked with a nervous smile.

Re: The City of Garal(anyone)
Ooc: Just a fleeting thought, but wouldn't it be cool if another character joined? Anyways, here we go!
Bic: I leaped into the air, forcing my wings to move quickly enough to stay airborne. With great care, I grasped the man firmly beneath his arms. I pulled with everything I had, barely managing to get him one foot off of the ground. "Ugh...you're...heavier than I...thought," I gasped, beating my wings furiously. I was too weak to rely soley on my physical capability, so I tried something new,;channeling the flame within me throughout my entire body. Though it took all of my concentration, I felt new strength rush through me, enabling me to fly higher while still bearing the man's weight. I could already tell that we were almost six feet from the ground. "I'm not...sure...how long...I can sustain...but I think I...can do it..." I tried to lower the man back onto the ground steadily, but my wings refused to cooperate. Once I slowed my flapping just the tiniest bit, we both dropped down onto the ground with a horrible thud.

Re: The City of Garal(anyone)
"Ow," Joe muttered. "I could have tried to channel my flames into a current, but that would definitely be noticeable, but at least we're in business, let's get some rest, I have a guest room in the back. It's kind of cramped."
Joe led her down the hall and into the backroom which only had a bed and a bedside table with a water jug. "I hope this will do," Joe said. "If you need anything, my room is the one at the beginning of the corridor, unless, you wanna sleep there? I'm just asking, I mean.....you don't have to...."Joe stuttered and blushed. |

Re: The City of Garal(anyone)
Ooc: It seems just a tad bit strange that people would sleep during daylight hours, but I suppose it would make sense if they were waiting for nightfall...anyways, on we go!
Bic: "This room is sufficent," I replied, not desiring to trouble him. The place was indeed simple, but it certainly was better than any room I had slept in. Bren, the village I had grown up in, looked like a bunch of hovels next to the great buildings of this city I had stumbled into. I wondered for a moment what Hemanias would have thought of this place; and I doubted he would approve of me staying in the home of a man that I hardly even knew. At any rate, I was too tired to consider such things. Some rest would indeed help to clear my head before we attempted our attack. "Again, I must thank you for your kindness. and I hope you rest well. May the goddesses protect us while our eyes are closed."

Re: The City of Garal(anyone)
Joe nodded silently and shut the door behind him. He made his way down to the bathroom near his bedroom. He splashed some water on his face, these were strange times indeed. He needed to rest soon, he had spent a few nights no sleep in the past week these men had attacked. Hopefully tomorrow he would be able to save the city, but for now, he must sleep.
Joe stepped into his room beside the bathroom and fell asleep in a few minutes, his last thought was, will I live through tomorrow? |

Re: The City of Garal(anyone)
When I awoke again, it was still dark. Everything was silent, save for crickets chirping outside. Though it had only been a few hours, I was refreshed, needing much less time than a human does to fully rest.
With great care to be silent, I slipped out of my room and into the hall. Hopefully, the man wouldn't mind me waking him up, seeing as now would be the best time to attack. Hopefully, many of the gaurds would be asleep by now, leaving only a few gaurds awake on the watch. If we could get past them, defeating the assailants would be truly easy. I shifted my thoughts back to the man as I appoached his door. It made me nervous to attepmt to wake him, but there was also a chance that he already had awoken. "Joe," I called, softly knocking on the door, "are you awake?"

Re: The City of Garal(anyone)
The courage of Joe eased my tension slightly, though the battle ahead still worried me. "A good feeling...I hope you are right. The liberation of this city will be paid in blood, and such things rarely end happily. If you are prepared, we should leave while the dark favors us."

Re: The City of Garal(anyone)
"Yeah, the castle is to the north, there. You might have seen it on your way in. We need to sneak around back," Joe said, talking to Leonna as he lead her by the hand toward the castle. As he spoke Leonna nodded a few times.
As they ran through the winding backstreets, they heard many screams from the townsfolk. Joe had a pained expression. It took about half an hour to get where they wanted to be. This was where they would sneak in. Hopefully Joe was right in thinking that there would be no one expecting a flight attack. "Okay, here goes nothing," Joe muttered, holding his arms out. |

Re: The City of Garal(anyone)
I took a deep breath and let my energy seep out, releasing my wings as well as a wave of intense heat. To my dismay, the orange glow of my wings lit up the ground around me; an obvious sign to any enemy that intruders were near.
Knowing that I didn't have much time before someone would take notice of the light (if they already hadn't), I lept into the air, spreading my wings out as wide as I could. I had to make a low circle before picking Joe up, focusing my energy into giving me more strength. The momentum of the movement allowed me to pick Joe up with realative ease, sending us up a full ten feet before I had to start violently flapping my wings again. I made it up to a small balcony about three stories up from the ground. There, I dropped him off, landing quietly as I could beside him. Before us was a large door made to look like a window, giving us a good look into the empty room inside. I quickly forced my wings back in again, listening intently for any disturbance my little flight may have caused. When none came, I turned to Joe, carefully hiding the trepidation I felt. "And now?"

Re: The City of Garal(anyone)
Joe landed softly as he could. As Leonna landed almost silently beside him, he stood up straight and brushed himself off.
"Now," Joe began, to Leonna's question," we sneak. Be as quiet as possible, and get your weapon ready." Joe got his sword in his hand and his shield raised. "Stay behind me, you may need to sneak to save my neck. It's also best if they think only one is here." Joe walked through into the room beyond and saw a guard standing just outside it. There were bloody chains in the corner, clearly this was a torcher chamber, and the person had been taken out. Joe sneaked behind the guard and, hoping no one was on the other side, ran his sword through the barbarian. Joe quickly stuck his head through the door, kicking the guard out of his way. "The coast is clear," he muttered to Leonna. This room was larger than the previous, with doors leading out to stairways. "Which way do we go?" Leonna asked tentatively. "Up. If I've learned anything about barbarians, they like to feel that they're on top of everything and everyone," Joe replied, striding to one of the stairways leading up."If we take the leaders head back on a stake, the barbarians will surrender." |

Re: The City of Garal(anyone)
"A stake?" I muttered to myself, unsure for the thousandth time of what I was doing. Excatly who is the barbarian here?
Feeling a slight nasea begin to settle in the pit of my stomach, I followed Joe up the stairs, wincing at the sound of his footsteps on the stone. Though I knew my senses were keener than most humans, I was afraid that the slightest sound may awake the gaurds... Thankfully, we both reached the top of the stairs with no incident. I peered beyond Joe to see the extent of the hallway before us, which was dark, save for the dim light of a few dying torches. A tiny, metallic glint shimmered by the faint light of one torch, revealing the presence of another gaurd. By the sound of his breathing, the man had fallen asleep on duty. These men truly are imbeciles...
