Here Be Monsters ( Wispy )
Leona walked around the carcass, her lips curling up in slight disgust. The cow was on its side, a large part of its abdomen missing. She made her way towards the broken section of the nearby fence and crouched down in front of it. A gloved hand ran over the splintered wood, and then she stood up to walk back to the animal. The rest of the herd was sleeping in various parts of the enclosed pasture, blissfully unaware of the death of one of their own.
"...Are you absolutely sure this wasn't done by a wolf?" she asked the man standing next to her. He was tall and lanky, wearing farmer overalls and a hat. She had been led to this town by rumours which said that a demonic beasts of sorts had been attacking the animals of local farmers at night. The disembowelled cow at her feet was the latest victim. The hole in the fence definitely wasn't like something a wolf would do, but she wanted to hear what the witness had to say first-hand. "Yes m'am, it's a demon straight from Hell and it's only a matter of time until it starts going after our children." He removed his hat and held it reverently against his chest. "It's happened before, years ago. We lost five of our young before the demon's thirst was satisfied.," he said reverently. "I am truly sorry for your town's loss," she replied. "I promise you that I will see this through." The man returned the hat to his head and nodded. "Some of the villagers have seen the dreadful beast. It walks on four feet and has large wings on its back, like that of a giant bat." Leona frowned slightly in thought. "Are you sure what you're describing is the culprit?" "Of course, m'am. It's clearly a demon, what creature of our Lord would look like that?" The Exorcist nodded once, and then adjusted her hat. "The kill is fresh. Whatever did this can't be too far away." "So then you will be exterminating the beast tonight?" he asked, a hint of self-righteous excitement in his voice. "How much will your services cost? The town is more than willing to --" Leona held up a hand to silence him. "We'll discuss my payment after the job is complete," she said simply. "Stay in your homes and lock the doors. May God be with you," she added with a slight nod of her head. "May God be with you as well, Miss D'Arcangelo, for you will be dealing with the spawn of Satan," he replied. She didn't answer, instead she walked over to the broken fence and climbed over it. Kneeling on the ground some distance beyond it, she trailed her fingers along a faint trail in the dirt. The prints were definitely clawed but their depth suggested that the creature responsible slithered along like a lizard would, and a snaking through between the footprints was a clear indication of a tail. She rose to her feet and began to head in the general direction the trail hinted at, making her way into the sparse forest nearby, the only light to show her the way being that of the moon.

Re: Here Be Monsters ( Wispy )
(OoC: Sorry that mine's a bit short.)
Amberstone continued to walk down the cavernous hallway. The fog was still there, but not very thick anymore, which was a great help to her sight. Everything seemed normal in the fog, minus the floor, which was still covered if the vapor, entirely hidden from view. Two more steps from the cub was all it took, before she fell into a pit of sorts, and stopped suddenly by crashing into the ground below. ---- The copper Vassyr wobbly got up, and looked around, clearly dazed from the fall. Where...am I? She looked around as the cloudiness in her eyes faded, A forest? But I was in a cave... what happened?! She also took note of how dark everything was, but could not see the moon from where she stood. The gargoyle mewed in her confusion, before she carefully moved her limbs, wings and tail to check for any possible injuries. There were none, thankfully, and Amberstone walked to the south of where she had fallen.

Re: Here Be Monsters ( Wispy )
The forest got thicker as she walked further within it, until the moon was no longer visible above. All her senses were alert and she knew better than to rely just on sight in the darkness. Her ears were poised to pick up the slightest noise, but all she could hear now were the normal sounds of the forest. She walked past a willowy tree and found herself in front of a steep descent, and she surveyed the area below as best she could.
A sudden disturbance in the distance reached her ears, almost as if something heavy had landed on the forest floor. Her eyes swept over the area but she only had time to make out a shadowy silhouette, before it disappeared inside the trees. She frowned slightly and reached behind her for the shotgun, wondering if she had seen the demon the villagers had mentioned. With the weapon in hand she half-walked half-skidded down the hillside, coming to rest against the trunk of a tree and looking around. She couldn't see or hear anything just yet, but she knew that whatever she had seen earlier was somewhere close by. Walking in the general direction of where she had seen the shadow, she reallised that she could barely see anything now. She muttered under her breath in Italian and wished she had a lamp with her to see by, even if that would have betrayed her position. She began to hear footsteps relatively nearby, the sounds amplified by the forest so that they could be picked up by her senses. Renewing her grip on the shotgun and holding it at her side, she walked past the treeline and found herself inside a small clearing, the surroundings illuminated slightly under the moon.

Re: Here Be Monsters ( Wispy )
Amberstone slowly walked into the same clearing, still a bit dazed from the fall. Ok... where am I...? She was answered by a faint click, followed by a blast. Her wings instantly changed into a chain-like version, which caught most of the shot, minus other metal orbs that just bounced off of her scales. “What the...” the cub looked around, puzzled, before she spotted a woman near her. The gargoyle spoke perfectly to her, as if she wasn't a creature, “Great... another hunter, just what I needed...” she slumped her head down as she continued, “ Why did you.... attack me with that thing....?”
The woman just stood there for a moment, gawking, before she took aim again, “Begone, foul demon!” As she fired again, Amberstone charged at her, jumping to the left, and hearing more pellets bounce off her scales as she closed the distance. Life Spark jumped all around her, which caused her to be more visible as she pounced onto the woman and watched her shiver slightly. The cub spoke again, as she held the woman down, “I'm not going to kill you, ok? I'm not even letting my Life Spark touch you, since my tail's touching the ground.”

Re: Here Be Monsters ( Wispy )
Leona felt a jolt going through her as the creature pounced her, hinting at much more dangerous voltages hidden within. She gritted her teeth and tried to squirm away, but her assailant was much too heavy. The shotgun was still in her hand, but if she fired right now the ricochet would rip her apart. Besides she had already used up both shots and it would be very hard to reload with the the weight pressing her down. She grunted and tossed the shotgun aside to rid herself of the temptation to use it.
"Why are you just holding me down?" she asked. "Why aren't you attacking me?" One of her hands slowly slid down to draw one of her knives, holding it hidden in her hand should she have to defend herself. Looking up the gargoyle she wondered whether this was not the demon she was after. It certainly looked like one, but she couldn't really sense a demonic aura about it.

Re: Here Be Monsters ( Wispy )
(OoC: Sorry for taking so long. I hope I got Leona right.)
Her ears caught the hunter’s words, "Why aren't you attacking me?" “Because there’s no need to. I just fell into this place a while earlier anyway.” Amberstone slowly and gently moved off of the woman, but still looked at her. “I’m guessing you’re looking for something, right?” The Life Spark on her slowed down, but stayed around her paws and tail. Her tail seemed to look like it was stiff, with it being stuck out like it was, but it easily curled around her as the cub calmly sat down. The odd woman finally got up, and watch the gargoyle the whole time, and slowly slid something into the odd object again, “What I’m looking for is a demon. What may I ask are you?” “I am a gargoyle…” Her ears spun to her back as she caught the sound of twigs breaking, and a rough snarl from behind her. [I]What the…?[/] Turning around, Amberstone noticed that the creature that was walking into the clearing looked a bit like herself, despite most of its head being covered in blood. The whole creature looked to be a pale gray in the moonlight, with back markings that appeared to be scars all over it. The eyes were an odd green, accented by orange. The beast mostly looked at the copper gargoyle, before it focused and roared at the woman. Amberstone shattered half of her wings as she stood up, the electricity around her crackling.

Re: Here Be Monsters ( Wispy )
Leona narrowed her eyes at the creature growling at her, and she could feel the demonic aura practically reeking from it. Thankfully it appeared to be nothing more than a mindless lesser demon, but that was no excuse for her to drop her guard. The creature snarled at her, flashing dagger-like teeth, and then lunged at the huntress. Leona was quick to react however, and leaped away to dodge the attack, before firing a shot at the creature. The target managed to evade the attack cleanly, and jumped a good distance away from the both of them. It roared once more, and then disappeared into the foliage.
She immediately set off after it, not intending to let it escape. She wasn't sure whether that "gargoyle" posed any threat to the villagers or not, but the pressing matter right now was the demon. Running past Amberstone, she slid a fresh cartridge into her shotgun and shouted out to her, "Stay right there," before vanishing under the trees in pursuit.

Re: Here Be Monsters ( Wispy )
(OoC: I know this is really short, but with this writer's block I'm stuck in, it's the best I can think of for this post. v.v Sorry.)
“Stay right there,” she heard the woman say. Amberstone shifted her weight back and forth on her forepaws, thinking. I know I haven’t met this person for long, but how can she take on that thing on her own? Even with that fire-stick, if she misses… Growling, the cub followed after the woman, not wanting to be blamed for a death. I still have no clue as to why I’m here…
