Post Powers you never knew you had... [Fluesopp]

This place is huge, thought Windsor as he walked through the huge city he had found himself in. Treth, they called this place. The houses were grand, and in the center of the city was a great shining castle, in which the ruler of Treth resided. This isn’t anything like any other towns I’ve seen…

Windsor wandered through the city for several hours, amazed at every new thing he saw. Once the sun had fallen behind the shining castle, the white-haired boy began looking for a place to sleep. He didn’t mind where he ended up sleeping, anything here would be better than where he had had to live in the seedy towns Windsor had resided in before. He eventually settled for an alley that seemed to be a bit less damp than the others. The white-haired boy found himself a comfortable corner and drifted off to sleep.

It was one ‘o clock in the morning when Windsor was awakened. “Wha-?” said Windsor groggily.

“Your in our territory, kid. You ain’t welcome here,” said a rough looking man, seizing Windsor by the collar. There were several more men behind him, all beginning to laugh.

“Sorry, I’ll go, just don’t hurt me!”

“Ah, kid, I wouldn’t think of hurtin’ a child.” Said the man, beginning to grin wickedly, “Too bad I don’t consider you a human with those creepy white eyes o’ yours…”

“What? No!” Windsor began kicking at the man madly, desperate to escape.

“Well kid, at least you can go back to sleep…” the man pulled out a rough looking iron dagger from his belt. He dropped Windsor to the ground, calling for two of the men behind him to hold Windsor.

It’s over… thought the white-haired boy as the man raised the dagger, preparing to drive it through Windsors pale throat.

Ooc: It's not very good, I've always been terrible when it came to starting posts. You'll see an improvement as this thread goes on.

Re: Powers you never knew you had... [Fluesopp]

The moon was unnaturally big. It was usually like that when great things were approaching, and as Aronin sat by his kitchen table, eating a late meal, he could not stop thinking about where destiny were working today. It might be a daughter who were slaving under a brutal stepmother, or a boy that might one day rise to become king. Just like in the fairytales. After all, he was in a world which most people would classify as a world of fairytales, and as far as Aronin knew, the fairytales might even be true stories origin from this world.

He finished his meal, consisting of something bearing a strong resemble to bread, and a bird like creature which tasted like chicken, and went upstairs. The moon shone bright through the window, and cast a bright square of light on his bed, almost as if it asked him to go to bed. Aronin went over to the window, and looked up at it. It’s features were close to a earthly moon, perhaps even clearer, as from here, the craters and hills on the moon were much more visible than from the earth.

Aronin looked down on the paved street below, and noticed a boy walking past. It was unusual for kids to be out this late, and Aronin had a strong feeling that he should do something about it. But as the boy passed, a cold wind blew past the window, making Aronin shudder, and close the window. After all, it was not up to him to help everyone that had problems. He could probably take care of himself, he thought and went to bed.

But sleep never arrived. Instead, Aronin turned in bed, trying to calm himself from something he did not know what was. There was something he had missed, and he knew it. Something he should have done something about and it were bugging him, torturing him, and making sleep impossible. Aronin tried to reconstruct the day. He had woken up late, eaten breakfast, lunch a little later, taken a walk in the forest outside the city, gone to the marked, and then he had read a book all afternoon. But there was something more, which he could not put his finger on. Was it the homeless boy he had seen outside his window? He had seen many homeless boys around, so why would this one be more special? With his white eyes, and white hair, he thought and blinked.

Aronin hurried downstairs and grabbed his coat before heading outside. He had to find the boy, by some reason he didn’t know of. Following the boy’s direction, he assumed he could limit the search by only searching through that half of the city, and walked on. He had only arrived there a week ago, and in this big city, he was almost completely lost. He knew a few streets and “landmarks”, so he could find his way back, but he had absolute no idea of where he would have best chances of finding him.

After looking for about one half hour, he was about to give up and go home when he looked up at the moon. It was bigger than ever, appearing to fill the whole sky, and Aronin nodded at the white beauty. Truly, destiny was working, and it was working through him. How could he give up by now?

He looked around to ensure nobody saw him, and grabbed himself up with telekinesis, just above the rooftops. From here, he could see much more of the city, and ease the search even more. And it was not more than a few seconds before Aronin saw the white haired boy, sleeping in a corner a few blocks away. Aronin descended and started walking.

But as he was only a block away, he heard laughing from the alley the boy was sleeping in. Aronin started to run, and as he arrived, he saw a gang of five soldiers standing around the boy. Quickly understanding the conflict, Aronin walked up to the group, just as one of the soldiers were about to stab the poor boy with a dagger.

“What quarrel does you have with this boy?” Aronin asked firmly and made his way in-between the boy and the soldier.
“Mind your own business, civilian,” the soldier said and pointed his dagger at Aronin. “We are the royal guards, so if you don’t get out of the way you can look forwards to a nice cold cell in the royal prison!”

“Clearly, you are drunk, and should not be in possession of such dangerously things,” Aronin responded, placed a finger on the side of the blade pointed at him and pushed it aside. The soldier looked at Aronin with hatred in his eyes, clearly irritated by the arrogant behavior of the lower life standing before him, and made a stab at Aronin. But with a flick of a finger, the dagger was no longer in the soldiers hand, but stuck in the stone underneath.

“Amateurs,” Aronin said and grabbed the soldier by lifting his hand, and threw him backwards to the end of the alley. “And stay there!” he yelled after him, before lifting his hand almost in a salute, which caused the soldier trying to stab Aronin from the back to jolt backwards and into another soldier.

They quickly got to their feet, at the same time the two soldier who were holding the boy drew their sword. And from the end of the alley, the first soldier also came running, with his sword drawn. They quickly surrounded Aronin, who quietly stood still, watching their every move.

“By the royal seal, you are under arrest! We have you surrounded, so don’t try anything!” the first soldier said, and pointed his sword at Aronin. The others were ready to strike at any time.

“Such pretty swords,” Aronin said and smiled. “But I really wonder why they are made of so weak material…” And just as he said that, his hands burst into a blue fire of plasma, which lit up the whole alley with dancing shadows. The soldiers took a step backwards, before the first soldier charged at Aronin with his sword lifted. Aronin lifted his palm and blue plasma engulfed the sword, melting it in mere seconds, leaving the soldier with glowing metal on the pavement. The remaining soldiers then charged all at once, but in a quick movement, Aronin had all the swords aflame, and in mere seconds, the soldiers were disarmed and scared to death. And in a final move, Aronin proceeded to pick everyone up, and hung them by their shirts on the wall.

“That will teach you not to mess with things smaller than you,” Aronin said to the dangling soldiers, who remained silent. Then, Aronin turned to the young teen and motioned towards the end of the alley.

“Come on, let’s get you a warm bed and some food.”

Re: Powers you never knew you had... [Fluesopp]

Ooc: I shalt be known throughout the BA for my notoriously short posts. RPs are a lot different that getting assignments in the Dome, but oh so much more fun.

The white-haired boy sank further into the corner, untrusting of the strange man.

“Okay, you don’t trust me. I understand, I’ve been through some rough times myself. But, seriously, if I were going to hurt you in any way, wouldn’t I have already done it? As you’ve already seen, I could kill you easily, but I’m not going to, I’m not that kind of guy.”

That is true… thought Windsor, And he did save my life from those soldiers. I guess I can trust him… The only thing that worries me is what he did to those soldiers… How can he have that much power? How is that even possible? thought Windsor, remembering the blue plasma on the dark-haired man’s hands. “Okay, you’re right, I’ll come.”

“Follow me,” said the man, turning and walking out of the alley. “By the way, my name is Aronin Orino, just call me Aronin,” he added, turning his head slightly back to Windsor, “what’s yours?”

“Windsor Dais,” answered Windsor, checking to make sure he still had his charm and dagger.

Windsor followed Aronin through the city, walking for about half a mile before Aronin stopped and turned to Windsor. “I hate walking this far…” said Aronin with a sly smile, “Have you ever flown, Windsor?”

Before Windsor could answer, he was lifted off his feet by some invisible force. “Wha-?”

“That’s one of the things I can do, I have telekinesis,” said Aronin, also rising, “now, don’t freak out, we’re going to my place.”

The two began moving through the air, towards wherever Aronin was staying. Windsor was scared at being in the air at first, but soon he realized that he felt at home in the sky, he couldn’t explain it. It was like some lost part of him had been awakened. “Woohoo!” exclaimed the white-haired boy.

Aronin turned for a moment, the both of them still in the air, and smiled at Windsor. “Well, we’re here,” said the dark-haired man as both he and Windsor slowly dropped to the ground. They found themselves in front of a house, not unlike any of the others in the city. Windsor was glad to be at a place where he would, most likely, be safe. His only regret was that he had had to leave the sky.

“Come on in, you look like you could use something to eat,” said Aronin. Windsor followed him in the house, whose doors had opened on their own.

Neither had noticed that it was not Aronins powers that had opened the door, but a small gust of wind.

Re: Powers you never knew you had... [Fluesopp]

Well in, Aronin found some leftover bread from his late meal and placed it on the table along with some butter and cheese, telling the boy to dig in, which he did with great eagerness. It looked like he hadn’t had a proper meal in days from the speed he devoured the slices. Aronin shook his head at the table manners of the boy and went to the storeroom to get some milk.

But as he returned with the milk pail, he halted by the door. He could not remember opening it when they entered, and it was not like him forgetting to lock it when he left. He opened it and peaked outside. Only a stray cat moved outside, playing with a mouse it had caught. Aronin closed the door and looked down. Was there someone in the house?

He placed the pail on the table and went to the second floor after taking out some more bread. Carefully he opened the door to his bedroom and peaked inside. The moon shone through the window just as before, bathing the room in white light. Aronin checked every shadow, including under the bed and in the closet, but found nobody. He proceeded to the second bedroom, but still nobody.

He did a final check in the living room before returning to the kitchen. The boy had finished his meal and was drinking heartily a big glass of milk. Aronin lit up a candle to light up the second bedroom, which was suddenly blown out by a strong gust. Quickly turning around, looking for a threat, the only thing in the room was the boy, who were yawning. Aronin lifted a brow, but decided to let the question wait until tomorrow. After all, it was only a tired boy sitting in front of him.

“Let’s find you a bed,” he said and lit the candle again.

Re: Powers you never knew you had... [Fluesopp]

Ooc: My 2ooth post!

"You can sleep here," said Aronin, motioning towards the bed. "You can wake up anytime you like, I'm in no hurry."

"Thank you," said Windsor rather awkwardly. Aronin walked out of the room.

~~*~~

The next morning, Windsor woke up, the sun already high in the sky. Oops, well, Aronin did say I could wake up anytime... He made a feeble attempt at untangling his rather long hair, then took his charm and dagger and walked out of the room. He found Aronin in the kitchen, fully dressed, breakfast already laid out on the table in front of him.

"Ah, you're up, good. Well, time to eat, go ahead, help yourself," said Aronin, sitting down and motioning for Windsor to do the same. They both sat at the table and ate. Windsor, despite being much smaller than the older man, probably ate twice as much as Aronin, and was done with his food before him.

When Windsor looked up, he found Aronin looking at him. Did I do something wrong? he thought to himself.

Aronin, seeing his worried face, laughed and said, "What are you worried about? Oh, I was looking at you, wasn't I?" said Aronin. Then he added, thoughtfully, "I just had a question for you..."

Re: Powers you never knew you had... [Fluesopp]

OoC: Dialogue, dialogue and more dialogue. Just cry out if I portraited Windsor to childishly.

“How long have you known you were a wind elemental? Or the likes?” There was an awkward moment as Windstor, as Aronin remembered, was taken aback by the ambitious question.

“I.. I’m not a wind elemental? I think…” he said carefully and watched Aronin carefully.

“Well, obviously you got the power over winds, or air.”

“Wha.. I can’t do anything like you can? Flying and making flames in your hand.”

“No, wind. Air. Or so I assume. So you really don’t know, do you?”

“No…” Windstor said carefully.

“Well then Windstor,” Aronin started. “Windsor,” Windsor interrupted. “Oh, sorry, Windsor, you are special. You have powers, either you know about them or not.”

Windsor was quiet, before his face got a curious and childish look. “So, I can do things? Magic things?”

“Magic, not magic, I don’t know what these powers are,” Aronin said and made his glass float in the air. “And neither what yours are. But that is minor details. You got powers, and you’d be better off if you learn to use them.”

“Where can I do that?” Windsor said eager and stood up so quick his chair tipped over.

“The Dome!” Aronin said mystically and stood up, walking to the living room. “It’s a magical place, with everything you can imagine. And teachers who will train you in your powers.”

“Where is it? How do I get there?” Windsor replied eagerly.

“I don’t know. It will find you when you are ready. It’s in another dimension. I got here through it.”

“Dimension? Are you from another dimension?” Windsor asked in disbelief.

“Yeah, I’m here on ‘vacation’. But you see, you can’t decide when you are ready, so in the mean time, I’ll be your teacher.”

“You will?”

“Well, think of it as a guide. I’m not qualified to be a teacher, but to tell the truth, it’s not in the Dome I learned to use my powers. I learned it from just a nobody. Now, if you are done eating, let’s take a walk in the woods.”

Re: Powers you never knew you had... [Fluesopp]

Ooc: You made Windsor seem a bit too childish, and a bit too eager. Still, I like what you did. I created Windsor to be, well, me. I think that might be how I might act if I discovered that I was a Wind Elemental. Remember, Windsor's 14, not 11. Yeah, and I thought that this post would be good reflection time for Windsor.

“Okay… yeah…” Windsor replied, still wondering about him being a Wind Elemental.

“Follow me,” Aronin motioned towards the door.

Windsor followed the telekinetic out the house, and further to the edge of a wood, outside of the city; here he paused for just a moment.

“What is it?” asked the apparent Wind Elemental.

“Oh, nothing. I just have this, feeling. I don’t know what, but I feel something. It isn’t anything dangerous, so don’t worry. It’s not really a presence at all, but more something like a.. a premonition, a feeling that something is going to happen, going to happen soon,” Aronin glanced back at Windsor. “Ah, come on. No use wasting time talking.” Aronin walked into the woods, the apparent Elemental following.

What’s going on? thought Windsor. Could I really be a Wind Elemental? There has to be some explanation for what happened in that town with the soldier. I have to be an Elemental… But… I’m scared. I don’t know why, but this is terrifying. It makes no sense. I have more power than I ever thought possible, and it terrifies me. Windsor remembered the looks of the soldiers, their faces only moments before they knew death was coming. He shuddered. Killing scares me… I’m not scared of having power, I enjoy it. I’m scared of how I may use it… The eagerness that Windsor had felt earlier was fading.

“We’re here!” said Aronin, turning back to Windsor, interrupting him from his thoughts.

“Wha-? Oh, good…” answered Windsor, a little unsure of what his ‘teacher’ was going to be teaching him.

Re: Powers you never knew you had... [Fluesopp]

The duo stopped in a clearing in the forest, with mossy ground and flowers in the south end. An idyllic place for picnics, which would soon be completely ravaged by uncontrolled powers. Sometimes, things have to be destroyed to create something else. And today, a new force would be created. Awakened from its slumber.

Aronin looked up at the foliage above them that filtered the light, creating beams of light in the light. He had picked this place specifically because of the high concentration of forest dust in the air, which would easily be disturbed by the smallest wind, hopefully created by Windsor. The air smelled of tension as the two looked at each other, before Aronin motioned at the flowerbed.

“Make the petals blow away,” he commanded. Windsor looked a bit confused, almost a bit frightened or confused, but he tried at least. He mimicked a motion Aronin had done the previous day, and Aronin nodded to himself as the sunlit dust around his hand changed direction and moved a bit away from the hand.

“Did you notice?” he asked. Windsor shook his head. “Nothing happened to the flowers?” he responded and looked at the flowers.

Aronin smiled back and nodded. “Nothing happened to the flowers.” He waited and watched Windsor’s reaction. “But try it again. And look at your hand.”

He repeated the motion, and got wide eyes as he noticed the dust blow away from his hand, a bit more powerful this time.

“See? Now, you are mimicking my motions. But you can’t just do it like that. You have to figure out for yourself how to “call” on your powers.”

He made a flick with his hand and a branch was cut down from a tree and slammed into the ground. “It’s almost as a new body part. Move your arm. Just move it around.”

Windsor did so, and moved it in a circle.

“Have you ever wondered how you were able to do that?” Aronin asked.

“Do what?”

“Move your arm…”

Windsor looked at Aronin as if he was stupid asking such a dumb question, but Aronin looked back with a firm look.

“No, seriously. How do you move your arm? The whole point is that your powers are controlled just like that. You are probably on the level of an infant trying to get control over his powers. So, the only thing you can do right now is to just wish for it to happen, literary. Imagine that a strong gust flows out of you, and blow away the petals. Just do whatever feels naturally, use your body, your mind, your equipment. Just be, act like, the wind.”

OoC: First day will only be "you got powers. Here is how you controll them." The attacks will come the next day, unless you wish otherwise. You can use Aronin to give guidelines to windsor as he tries.

Re: Powers you never knew you had... [Fluesopp]

Ooc: Sorry if I messed this up, I wasn't really sure about this post.

Act like… the wind? thought Windsor, confused. Nevertheless, he thought of the wind, how it moved, how it could be a gentle breeze, feeling cool against his face, or create a raging tornado, destroying everything in its path. Windsor had that power, he just had to unlock it. Windsor began to search inside himself for the hidden power that he knew he must have; he stumbled upon something strange and alien inside himself, it frightened him, yet was at the same time so enticing. The Wind Elemental, almost subconsciously, raised his hand and made a motion like he was backhanding the air in front of him. Suddenly, a huge gust of wind shot out from him, not only blowing the petals off, but forcing Aronin to shield himself, still, he was knocked to the ground.

“Sorry!” exclaimed Windsor, horrified.

But Aronin was laughing, “No, that’s good! That’s great! Now, you might want to learn to control you power though, that way you won’t destroy anything unintentionally.” Aronin got up, dusting the dirt off his pants. “Now, I want you to try to concentrate that same power, try to keep the power, but try keep it in a more exact spot.

Windsor reached for the power again, this time, it came easier, if only slightly. He Closed his hand into a fist and stuck two fingers straight out, the middle and index fingers. The white-haired boy made a quick jabbing motion directed towards the stem of a tall flower in front of him, a small cut appeared in the side of the stem, it was leaking green-tinted water.

“Good,” Aronin said approvingly. “ I must say, you’re advancing extremely quickly with your powers, much quicker than I had expected. Still, you lack the ability to use them instantly, you’d still get killed in a battle situation. I want you to continue practicing that, try to get faster at it. You should be able to do it without having to think about it hardly at all.”

“And what will you be doing?” asked Windsor, an eyebrow raised.

The telekinetic laughed, “I will be watching.”

Windsor sighed, but turned to face a tree and began practicing. He once more reached inside for his power and found it, once again a little bit quicker, though he didn’t notice it; Windsor made a quick backhand motion that caused a decently powerful gust of wind to blow at the tree, causing several leaves to fall from their branches. How can I ever be as powerful as him? thought Windsor, remembering how Aronin had made the soldiers swords melt the previous day. Practice, I guess… But how much?

“What are you doing?” asked Aronin, looking up from the book he had been reading. “Shouldn’t you be practicing?”

“Erm… Yes, sir,” said Windsor.

Aronin laughed, “I don’t know about ‘sir,’ just call me Aronin.”

“Uh, right,” replied Windsor, and turned his attention back to the tree; it was intimidating, seeing the huge, thick tree there and comparing it with his frail self.

Seeing the discouragement on Windsor’s face, Aronin said, reassuringly, “Hey, don’t be discouraged, you’ve already learned how to use your powers, and how to control how much power is in them. All you need is speed and a bit more power, “ Aronin grinned. “Remember, just a few minutes ago you knocked me over, and that’s not an easy thing to do, you may not have been controlling it then, but still, that power’s there, you just have to unlock it.”

Aronins words were more encouraging than they normally would have been, because they were true, and Windsor realized this. With newfound determination, he faced the tree, quickly reached for his power, found it within two seconds, and let loose a huge gust of wind at the tree, ripping it halfway apart and tearing all the branches off.

“Woah… did I do that?” the ¼ Wind Elemental asked himself.

“Apparently, you did,” said Aronin, grinning. “Now, see if you can do it again, the same amount of power, but in a small, jetstream-like burst of air. It should be enough to create a decent gash in that tree over there,” Aronin pointed at a very thick tree a few yards away from the one that Aronin had been practicing on.

“Okay,” replied Windsor, a little more determined now that he had been able to damage the first tree so much. He stuck his middle and index fingers out and made a slashing motion with his hand, simultaneously reaching for his power. Just as Aronin had predicted, there was now a large gash in one side of the tree.

“Good!” exclaimed Aronin.

Re: Powers you never knew you had... [Fluesopp]

“Good!” Aronin exclaimed. “You are progressing much faster than I had thought,” he continued and nodded.

“But still, that was to expect. Let us try it once more,” he said and motioned at a thick tree. “Write something. Write your name on the branch by using your powers.”

Windsor was now eager and optimistically, as he had already managed to control his powers. He lifted his fingers, and made a downwards swipe. Sure enough, a cut appeared in the bark. But as Windsor made a second swipe, the cut did not appear where it should be. It was not far away, but it was still off.

“You got the power, alright, but you need to train your aim. Let’s see. How about you finish the X on that tree,” Aronin said and made a cut with telekinesis on a tree on the far side of the clearing. Windsor closed his eyes for a brief second, and made a motion at the tree. The whole tree was split in two, and crashed to the ground with a loud sound sending birds flying everywhere. Aronin turned at Windsor and lifted an eyebrow.

“Well, you did finish the X,” he said, to which the surprised boy let out a little laugh. “But even though you got a lot of powers, you can’t make use of them if you got no control,” Aronin said and lifted the tree back onto its previous location. “There you go,” he said and released it. “Good as new.” The tree fell once more over, and Aronin lifted yet an eyebrow. “That was not supposed to happen…”

---------------------------

When the time came that they had to go home for the night, Windsor had managed to control the magnitude of his wind force, so that he would not accidentally blow down the house when they would continue the training there. Aronin was both proud and impressed by the little boy, who possessed that much power, and still were so innocent young. When Aronin were a bit older than he was, he had already killed countless men, all because he had no control of his powers. In some ways, he teaching Windsor, it was his way of repaying his misdeeds.

“So,” Aronin asked after the meal, where Windsor had tried to lift things, and hold them still, with the wind, “How is your world? I only arrived a week ago, and I don’t even know where this city is.”

Re: Powers you never knew you had... [Fluesopp]

Ooc: It's mostly Windsor talking, so I separated his speech into three paragraphs. I'm not sure if I did it correctly, though.

Bic: “My… world?” asked Windsor.

“Yes, remember what I said about the Dome? I’m here on vacation, remember? I used the Dome to get here, though I wasn’t completely sure of where exactly where I would end up. So, how is your world?” answered the telekinetic.

“I don’t even know about everything here. My whole life up until a couple years ago I was living in an orphanage, but I ran away.

This was not the answer to Aronin's question, but he allowed Windsor to continue.

"I lived on the streets for a couple years, and then one day I came to a village, I’m not sure what it was called. One day some soldiers attacked our village, I ran, but they caught me. They weren’t going to hurt me, at least, they said they weren’t. But they took my sack that I carry everything in. They tried to take this,” Windsor took the small sack he had mentioned out of his pocket and showed Aronin the golden amulet that was all he had left of his unknown parents. “It has my name on it. At the orphanage they told me I was found with it. They named me Windsor because that was what was on the amulet.

“I… I got angry, I don’t know where the anger came from, it just started surging out of me. They laughed when I threatened them, that made me angrier. Then… I don’t know what happened, I remember screaming, and then I blacked out. When I woke up there was… nothing. It had all been destroyed. I thought I had done it, but I wasn’t sure how I could have. Now I know, it was the Wind Elemental part of me…” tears appeared in Windsor’s eyes. “All I found was this, and my amulet.” He took the dagger from his belt and layed it on the table. “I- I’m scared Aronin…”

Re: Powers you never knew you had... [Fluesopp]

This kid was scared, and Aronin knew he was the right guy to comfort him. He needed someone older than him, who could be his father figure. Exactly where was his parents anyway? He decided it was best to not take out another sensitive part. Instead, he tried as best he could to give the young boy faith.

“Ain’t we all afraid,” Aronin said and nodded. He had no idea what would be the most appropriate thing to do, so he walked to the living room, and lit the fire in the hearth with a small burst of plasma. “We are afraid of the unknown, of the strange, and the uncomfortable, and all those things are just part of being human. I was almost in your shoes a few years ago,” he said and sat down in an armchair.

“I discovered my powers pretty much like you did. I got angry, and I killed a guy. I was shocked, repulsed of what I had done, but it could not be undone. The police never solved the case, as powers such as these,” he said and lifted a book lying on a nearby table, “is not scientific ‘possible’ in my world. I was never blamed, but I lived with the guilt for a long time, until it was replaced. I couldn’t take it anymore, and ran away from my parents, friends, and home.”

He sighed, and continued. “It was a dark time for me. I was confused, had problems accepting whom I was, and unsure of what I should use my powers to. I spent a few years in solitude, in which I let my feelings roam free. I killed many men during those years, mostly in bar fights because of alcohol. I was trying to forget, but somehow, I never did forget, or was properly affected by alcohol. Turns out my cells can use telekinesis on a micro level, and somehow heal themselves. But I was angry, and I made people angry, and that resulted often in fights.

I was haunted by the ghosts of those I killed. For a long time, I thought I was becoming mad, until I finally had to repay my debt. I was hunted down by a professional assassin, and killed. I was not angry, I realized then that my punishment had arrived, and I was glad that I could finally pay for what I had done. And for the first time in many years, I was glad. And that caused some energy to be released inside me, which resurrected me, as a new man…”

Aronin blinked. He had not meant to tell his life story, but it just came rushing out of him. “Oh, where was I? And that was when I discovered the Dome, and learned how to control my powers, and use them properly,” he quickly finished.

“Now, you should not be afraid. As long as you are afraid, your feelings are controlling you. Fear, for a stronger enemy, or in a dangerous situation, is not wrong. It’s just natural instinct. That just help you survive. But fear of what will be around the next corner, what will happen in the next minute, or second. Unconditional fear. That can be dangerous to you, and others.

But, you still haven’t told me about this world?”

Re: Powers you never knew you had... [Fluesopp]

Ooc: Not sure if I explained everything well enough, tell me if I didn't, and I'll edit it.

Bic: “Yeah… sorry,” said Windsor, wiping the tears from his eyes, comforted by the older man’s words. “I couldn’t tell you about the whole world, but I will tell you what I know. The only thing that I think of as magic that I’ve seen is only our powers. Everything in this city is completely new to me, it’s all so… well, nice. Every other village I’ve been in has been mainly small wooden houses. Here everything is made of stone.”

The Elemental continued, “The castle that is in the center of the city is so fancy. It’s so bright and beautiful.”

“Could you tell me more about the other villages you have been in?’ asked Aronin.

“The village that I grew up in, the one with the orphanage, it was pretty nice. We had a room full of bunk beds for the boys and one for the girls. There were two rooms for the caretakers, I don’t know much about that though, we weren’t allowed in. The entire village wasn’t very big, the orphanage was the nicest building there. All the other houses were, like I said, wooden huts. The orphanage was made of stone. There was grass everywhere, and there was a forest like the one we were in. The only reason I ran away was because the caretakers treated me worse than all the other kids, and all the kids avoided me. I think it was because of my hair and eyes…”

Windsor continued, “After I ran away, there were a whole lot more villages, all of them pretty much like the one I grew up in, except there was no orphanage. As I went farther, the plant life always seemed to become… less. When I was in the village where…” Windsor held back a sob, “where I killed those soldiers, it was all desert, only a few people lived there.

“After I left there I traveled some more. I went through a forest, but there wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. Yesterday was a week after I left that village.”

Re: Powers you never knew you had... [Fluesopp]

Though world, Aronin thought, but quickly reminded himself of his past, which made this world not so bad after all.

“Ok, so it’s some kind of medieval world, I think that’s enough,” he said and nodded thoughtfully.

“Medieval?” Windsor asked curiously.

“It’s when people use swords and shields, and horses, instead of guns and bombs and tanks.”

“What’s that? Something in your world?”

“Yes, but it’s better if you never will know what it is. It makes war much larger than it needs to be. Civilians are harmed, not the ones fighting the war. Lands is laid to waste, whole populations are wiped out. Nasty things. Now that I think about it, you’d be better off here, in your own world.”

“What do you mean?” Windsor said and looked up at Aronin.

“Oh, nothing. I was only wondering if I should take you to the dome or not,” Aronin said with a shrug, and interrupted Windsor as he lit up. “But now it’s bed time. And I think we’ll stay here tomorrow. I got something I need to find out about, in the city library.”

OoC: Ouch.. Short, and uninspiring. But I just had to write something, unless I'd loose interest.

Re: Powers you never knew you had... [Fluesopp]

Ooc: Man, took me forever to get to this... Sorry if it isn't very good, this is the first writing I've done in forever...

Bic: The library? "What do you need to find out?" asked Windsor, curious.

"Oh, nothing important. You wouldn't be interested." said Aronin offhandedly, yet Windsor had the suspicion he was hiding something.

"But I do want to come!" said Windsor, "I've never been to a library."

"No, you wouldn't be interested, seriously."

"Okay..." said Windsor in slightly exaggerated surrender.

"Good. Now, let's go to bed." said Aronin, sounding relieved.

~~*~~

Windsor woke up blinking at the sunlight that was streaming through his window.

"Wha-?" Windsor asked the ceiling. "Where's Aronin?" Though it was not the ceiling that answered him, rather a note on the door that had been left by Aronin. It read,

Windsor, I've gone to the library. I have food already on the table. Don't bother looking for me, the library is too hard to find.

"Too hard to find?" Windsor asked, this time addressing the door. "I'll find him... Even if he doesn't want me to."

Windsor made his way to the kitchen, quickly ate the breakfast Aronin had prepared, and walked into the street outside the house.

"Excuse me sir?" said Windsor, walking up towards a rather grubby, fat man who was selling cabbages.

"What? Oh, erm yes?" said the man, turning to face Windsor. "Agh! Demon! Run!" exclaimed the man, his eyes widening at the sight of Windsors own.

"Wait! No..." Windsor kicked the ground in frustration, why did he have to look like this?" No, don't think like that... "I guess I'll have to find the library myself... It shouldn't take too long..."

Windsor did find the library, though it did take him about three hours to do so. This city was even larger than Windsor thought.

The white-haired boy walked into the large building, his eyes widening at the site of the huge shelves that towered above his small figure. Windsor suddenly remembered what he was doing, looking for Aronin. Well, I'd better start now if I'm ever going to find him...

Though finding the older man did not take very long at all; Windsor found him in around ten minutes. Now... he obviously doesn't want me here, I'll have to find out what he's doing without him knowing I'm here...

Looking up at the bookshelves, Windsor got an idea.

He dashed across the aisle, making sure Aronin didn't see him from the table he was reading at. He then walked to the point in the next aisle that he could best view Aronin from, and began to climb the shelf. Of course making sure that no one was watching him.

The part Wind Elemental soon found a gap in the books and climbed through to the other side. He looked down and found that Aronin was directly below him, though he still couldn't see what it was that Aronin was reading. He climbed lower. Descen-... ants of... Windsors reading wasn't that good, he was still learning.

"Woah!" Windsor had lost his balance and fell to the ground below, directly behind Aronin. Uh oh...

Re: Powers you never knew you had... [Fluesopp]

Aronin turned around at the sound of something hitting the floor and stared straight at a startled Windsor. Apparently, he had been spying on him from one of the bookshelves above, and lost his balance.

“Some landing you did there,” Aronin said and scratched the back of his head. “You hurt?”

Windsor shook his head and got to his feet, looking sadly at the floor.

“Sorry I followed you,” he muttered.

“Hey,” Aronin said cheerfully, “stop that. I don’t mind you following me.” Windsor looked up, a bit relived, so Aronin continued. “I didn’t want you to go because this is going to take a long time, and there is nothing to do here for a little boy. Now, if you want to stay here, you can sit over there and read some books. But be quiet. It’s a library. Ok?”

Windsor nodded and went over to a chair, picking up a small book on the way. Aronin returned to the giant book he had been searching through. Descendants of Jor Guabriel. So far, he had finished three books, none which yielded any results. He did not know why he had this obsession about finding Windsors lineage, but somehow he felt sorry for the boy which had no family. It was the least he could do.

The time flowed slowly in the old building, the sides seemed endless, and the names did not give any solitude. Everything was unknown, mystic, strange… From time to time, Windsor came over with his book, asking for a word, what it meant and other things. But still, it was boring, and it was with relief Aronin closed the book and lifted it to the top of the shelf with telekinesis. Windsor followed it with his eyes wide open.

Aronin hesitated before bringing the next book down. Should he continue? Or should he just stop, and continue Windsor’s training? He decided he should at least skim the book, and lifted the next one down. Windsor’s eyes followed again the heavy book on its descent, filled with awe. Then Aronin noticed a change in his expression, almost as if he was in shock.

“What?!” Aronin said sharply and prepared for the worst.

“That mark..” Windsor said and jumped down from his chair. “It’s the mark.”

Aronin lowered the book slowly and looked skeptical at Windsor. “What mark?”

Windsor looked a bit confused at Aronin, before realizing Aronin did not know about it, and quickly reached into his tunic, and held forth his charm. A emblem was engraved on it, resembling the one on the book Aronin just brought down.

“It’s the same,” Aronin confirmed after examining them briefly, and suddenly, he was filled with excitement, this was the book.”

Windsor went forth and grabbed the edge of the cover, and Aronin could swear he could feel a weak wind emanating from Windsor as he opened it.

“It’s... It’s my name…” Windsor said and pointed at one of the first names in the registery.

Aronin went up to him and confirmed it. Windsor Dias was listed as one of the first names. What did that mean? Was it just an ancestor?
They turned the page, and both gasped in surprise, as the page was blank. They turned it again, and it was also blank. And so was the next one, and the next one.

“What does it mean?” Windsor looked confused and scared at the same time.

“I, I don’t know… Such books are not stored here unless it’s full, or the lineage is dead. And you are definitely not dead,” Aronin said, just as confused. “But look, if this is really you, then your lineage stared with this man, your grandfather.”

“grandfather…” Windsor whispered and touched the name with his finger. Aronin felt yet a current blowing away from Windsor, yet stronger this time.

“Let me see that amulet of yours again,” Aronin said, and held it up against the mark on the book. “It’s… missing something, it appears,” he muttered and let it spin slowly as he held it in the chain. “Strange… It seems to be attracted to the book?” Aronin turned his attention to the first page again.

“It says here your father used to live in this city,” he noted. Could it be he that placed it here? Why would he do that? Unless… Who would look for this book… Only someone that would want to know where he originated from? Why leave it like this then? Hidden? It could not be for reunion purposes? The death-date of Windsor’s father even stood in this book. Did he know he was going to die? Was he hiding something which Windsor needed to know?

He had turned about half the pages now, and he noticed how each turn made a current in the slow moving air, blowing dust away from the covers of old books. There was something here... Hidden…

He turned yet another page, and stared open mouthed at the next page. It was decorated with lots of caligrafi art, and in the middle, Windsor’s name was written in dark green ink.

“What is that?” Windsor whispered in awe.

“Turn out your father have left you something, I suppose,” Aronin whispered back.

He turned the page again, and to their amazedness, there was a form in the paper, shaped just like Windsor’s medallion. It was hollow from the front, but there was no trace of it from the other side of the paper.

“Take your medallion, Windsor. Place it here.”

Windsor nodded, and placed the medallion in the hole in the paper. Some ink around it started to glow slightly. “Place your hand on it,” Aronin suggested, to which Windsor did so. Some more ink started to glow. But nothing more happened. “Well, you got to do something perhaps?”

“Like what?” Windsor asked, a little frightened.

“Try to use your wind powers?” Aronin suggested.

Windsor nodded and concentrated. Aronin could feel the weak wind that had been seeping away from Windsor ever since he opened the book increase in power, and in the dusty air he could clearly see the dust move further and further away. More ink now lit up, expanding at a constant rate, slowly reaching every line of ink on the paper. The wind increased even more in power and Aronin felt like he had to brace himself not to lose balance.

“Where is the demon?!” someone shouted as a door slammed open somewhere in the library. Aronin glanced quickly at the end of the aisle, and back at Windsor, only to look back shocked. His eyes had turned completely white, and the glowing ink now was almost lit.

“There he is!!” someone shouted from the end of the aisle. Aronin turned quickly and stood face to face with three soldiers, and behind them, a robe clad figure.

“You have nowhere to run! Give up!” one of the soldiers shouted, and pointed a sword at Aronin, which snickered.

“Such fools. You come against me with swords? I’ll show you, true power!” Aronin said and pointed at the sword with his finger. It shot out of the wielder’s hand and pierced his foot. The two others took a step forth and drew their swords, and Aronin got ready to take care of those.

“Don’t,” the robe clad man said and put a hand on the soldiers shoulders. “I’ll take him myself.”

“Heh,” Aronin laughed and lowered his hand. “You? What are you going to do?”

“Don’t underestimate me, boy,” the clad man responded and made a wave with his hand. Aronin took a step back, unsure about what kind of magic this man might have. But nothing happened.

“Well, whatever you did, it did not work,” Aronin laughed, and raised a hand at him. “Now, it’s mine turn.”

But nothing happened.

“Your powers won’t work against me. I have negated them, by reflecting your own powers against yourself.”

Aronin gasped. What was this man?

“Now, take them down. I want that amulet,” the mage said, to which the soldiers stepped forth again.

The ink reached the edge, and everything exploded in a huge explosion of wind. Aronin could only barely hear Windsor scream from the loud whine of the wind.

--==§§==--

Such a waste of fine books, Aronin thought to himself as he lifted away pieces of stone and wood that had collapsed on top of his barrier. The air was filled with dust, and all around he could hear the faint voices of people screaming and wailing around. Apparently, there was some deaths, and from what he could make out of it, the whole library was destroyed.

Such power… Where did it come from? He looked around for Windsor and found him not far away, lying in the middle of what seemed to be the center of the explosion, completely unhurt, except for the fact that he had fainted. He hurried to pick him up, and noticed the change in the charm he was clutching. It seemed like the missing piece had returned, completing the emblem.

However, the smoke cleared quickly from the strong winds that remained from the explosion, when the townspeople managed to see clearly, they stopped dead in their tracks when they saw Aronin carrying Windsor. He could hear the word demon on everyone’s mouth as he shoot up into the air and away from the city with Windsor in his arms.

OoC: Long? Mmm.. I kind’a got carried away, so just say if you don’t like it.
Regarding that charm of Windsor’s. I allowed myself to explore it, even though I did not discuss it with you before, but I think you got a great base for further stories and updates. How you will use it, I don’t know, but perhaps you could go with the “Bankai” style, an ultimate release of powers which he cannot use right now? It’s his first battle after all..

~~*~~the forest~~*~~

Windsor awoke.

"Wha-? Where am I?" he asked himself.

"Oh, you're awake..." said Aronin, "I've taken you to the forest, the city isn't safe anymore."

"Why?" asked Windsor.

"You don't remember?" said Aronin, sounding surprised.

"No... I remember you telling me to use my powers on the book then... nothing..."

"Hmm..." Aronin looked up at the stars above them. "The soldiers came back for you..."

"So? Didn't you just use your powers again?" asked Windsor.

"I couldn't, they had a mage. He was using magic to negate my powers, I was helpless..."

"Then how are we here? Shouldn't we be dead?"

"No, something happened. They were getting ready to kill both of us but then there was a huge explosion, I think it came from you. The entire library was destroyed, and you were unconscious."

"So... the mage is dead?" asked Windsor, wondering what exactly had happened to him with that book.

Aronin turned to face the Elemental, "I doubt it, the bad guys always have a way of not getting killed when it's convenient. He'll be back, so we'll have to train, even harder than we were; a lot harder actually."

Aronin suddenly looked up, glanced at Windsor, and smiled. "Now! Time to train!"

"What?!" exclaimed Windsor.

Aronin sent a telekinetic blast at Windsor, causing him to fly back several feet. "What was that for?" asked Windsor, indignant.

Aronin walked up to Windsor, "It's time to train." he reached down and helped Windsor up, then backed away; ready now?"

Ooc: I decided the sparring might be fun after all ^_^

Re: Powers you never knew you had... [Fluesopp]

”The most important thing about fighting is to win,” Aronin lectured as Windsor summoned up a small whirlwind in his palms. “Don’t bother about all that ‘participation is all that matter’. That’s just for weaklings. If you don’t fight to win, then where is the purpose of fighting? Now, come at me with your best shot.”

Windsor took a fighting stance and made a swiping motion at Aronin, sending a cutting wind at him, which Aronin easily waves aside with little effort. “You can’t win if you don’t want to win. Don’t mind if the opponent is stronger than you. Do your best, and you’ll notice that even the greatest warriors are reachable.” Aronin created an explosion right in front of Windsor, the shockwaves sending him rolling backwards.

“You must have the will to fight! Without a will, there is no power behind your attacks. Don’t hope to win. Win!” He made slicing movement with his own hand, and a cut appeared on Windsors cheek. “Don’t think “I’m afraid of getting hurt”! Think “I won’t get hurt!” and you’ll survive.” He sent out a telekinetic shock wave and pushed Windsor further back.

“Don’t think “I hope I’ll win”. Think “I will win!” and you’ll win! Don’t be afraid, make them afraid. Don’t hesitate to hurt them, or they will hurt you,” he continued and made another cut, on Windsor’s arm. “All you got to do,” he said and sent another telekinetic blast at Windsor, “is to…” Windsor stood still, not affected by the blast. “Win. I got it,” the boy responded with fire in his eyes.

Aronin smiled as the air around Windsor began to revolve around him.

OoC: Don’t worry about any wounds. Aronin can heal them afterwards.

Re: Powers you never knew you had... [Fluesopp]

Win. thought Windsor as the air began to spin around him faster. He suddenly looked up; simultaneously, the whirlwind Windsor had conjured flew towards Aronin, who raised him arms above his head to block the attack.

"Good!" he exclaimed. "But let's see if you can match this!" Aronin raised his hand again and made a cutting motion. Windsor quickly moved his hand across his own face, causing a blast of wind to nullify the telekinetics attack.

"How's that?" asked Windsor, grinning.

"Pretty good... But we're not even started." Aronin grinned back, and both assumed a fighting stance once again.

Ooc: New at writing fight scenes for Windsor, Sonlen mainly uses his sword and bow. So... meh.

Re: Powers you never knew you had... [Fluesopp]

OoC: It’s a good start, but a battle post should include more than just one action. At least end your post with an action or something.

Aronin smirked. Only a just teen and he already got fighting spirit on par with grown men. He shot a blast at Windsor, who dodged, and countered with a wind attack of sorts which barely missed Aronin. It was clear from the expressions that he was serious.

“Good,” Aronin said as he had to jump out of the range of a tornado. “But it was still too slow.”

He shoot two blasts at Windsor, who dodged one, but was hit straight in the chest by the other.

“See what I did?” Aronin said as he jumped up to a branch in the closest tree. “I made you dodge into my second attack. Battle is not all about muscle.”

“Like this!?” Windsor said and cut down the tree Aronin was standing in with a huge jet stream. Aronin floated in the air as his footing disappeared.

“Like what?” Aronin said with a smile.

“That!”

A whistling wind and the sound of a branch breaking revealed in the last moment the sneak attack from behind. Turning quickly, Aronin held out a hand filled with plasma and caught the branch with his fist, setting it aflame as he threw it away.

“You have learned the first lesion of battle, no doubt,” Aronin said as he descended. “But your power is different than mine, and easier to detect. You can’t play stealth in the same way. You got to develop your own style, which fits with your powers. Preferably an unpredictable on….”

He was thrown several feet away by the tornado which had been hidden away in all the mess with the fallen tree.

“Ouch. Good one,” he said as he got to his feet. “Turns out I was mistaken,” the telekinetic remarked and nodded with a smile.

He once again assumed a fighting stance, to which Windsor did too, and at once they shoot out a blast at each other, which hit right in between, with the opponents forcing more and more force in their attack to out power the other. The energy filled air suddenly broke and sent the two fighters flying in both directions, and leaving a barren patch where the grass was all blasted away.

The dust that remained after the explosion suddenly twitched and disappeared as a strong wind passed through. Aronin caught his footing and barely dodged it as it flew by.

“He’s already that fast?” he thought to himself as attacked once more.
