Unlikely Friends
The city is a busy place, so different from the Dome, but also so alike. Always people, everywhere, no place to hide, or rather, many places to hide, both for a hunter, and it’s pray. It’s so crowded, so full of people, but at the same time, it’s one of those places where you are completely alone. Those people walking with you, they don’t know you, don’t care where you are going, won’t comfort you, won’t protect you and won’t help you… even if you help them.
I once experienced that very thing. I saved New York, from certain destruction, and what was my reward? Nothing! Not even a thank you. Of course, I’m not angry, not anymore, but back then, I... couldn’t control my temper. And of course, I did not leave empty handed. I gained a friend, in a rather unexpected way. Together, we saved the world. It happened during my training time at the Dome. I guess I was reckless, thought I could take on the world with my powers, and the Dome, or my teacher, thought I needed to get my feet on the ground. So one day when I woke up, I found myself in a hotel room in New York, stripped of my powers. How they managed to take my powers away, I still don’t understand, but then again, nobody understands the Dome’s ancient magic. Confused and frustrated, I decided to wait it out, to see why I was sent here. I must admit I had problems with doing common things like pouring juice in my cup without my powers. It was a most powerful lesson for me, but perhaps in a wrong way. To not being able to use my powers, it made me angry and frustrated, and I knew it was wrong, but I kept on blaming everything on others. It was not me, but everybody else that was the reason I was angry. Looking back, I had no one else than myself to blame for my temper. Anyway, I stayed in my hotel for about a week, with no clue to why I was sent here, and I tell you, to do nothing is worse than having too much to do. All I did was lying on my bed, watching people from my window, visit the library, in short, I had nothing to do, and I could not take it anymore. It was Sunday, and I woke up thinking that today, I should do something, something reckless. Just for the sake of it. All my life I had been able to do things people normally couldn’t do, and suddenly, I was just a normal man. I wished to be special, and I wished to do special things. Walking around in a parking lot, I finally found a car with the keys left in the car. I memorized its location and left the line. When I saw there was no one left that had seen me, I returned, and casually got in the car. It was thrilling. I was a thief, and nobody had seen me. It was enthralling to drive around, looking for cops, in case my theft was discovered. Of course, things never go as you plan, and my introduction to the cops came in a way I had not expected at all. When you have broken the law, it always seems as if there are more cops than there are normally. But I couldn’t help but notice the high amount of police cars it was today. Turning on the radio to listen for any mention on the news, I was quite disappointed when I heard someone had broken into a company building, and that the whole police force were headed that way, meaning they were not looking for me… But, what if… I thought, and sat my course for the building. I could enter it myself, perhaps look for the thief or whatever he was, and take him down myself. It was only when I had arrived at the building I remembered that I did not have my powers anymore. Disappointed, I drove slowly past the building and looked at the scene unfolding at the base of the building. Two swat teams prepared to enter the building, and from the entrance, a few civilians were escaping, with their hands in the air. I parked by the sidewalk on the other side, and watched. The two teams had entered the building and you could see them through the big windows as they progressed up the stairs. Then, I noticed a cop looking at me. I jolted back, and my adrenaline started to work. He started to walk over slowly, probably to say that I couldn’t be there, but it was still exciting. Suddenly, he widened his eyes, and said something in his comlink, before he ran back, pointing at me. Of course, I got confused and worried, did they know, I remember I thought. Then, I heard his voice. “Drive now if you want to live!” |

Re: Unlikely Friends
Cities were both a blessing and a curse. To Grundcull's sensitive ears the constant thumpping of feet, revving of engines, and the chatter of people was torture. Then the smell of smoke and car exhaust attacked his nose. But there were the positives too. He could walk up to someone, morphed of course, and steal magic right then and there. Grundcull liked to go outside a city then go in at night for feeding. Hobos were just as filling as the people in the penthouse apartments. For whatever reason, that night he chose the penthouse people.
Grundcull stood on a ledge, his paw claws digging into the stone. Cold, crisp air with just a tinge of gasoline filled his nostrils. Cars filled with anyone from late-night clubbers to businessmen on there way home drove across the street, their lights looking small as fireflies being so far away. Grundcull was playing a game he did often. Search the entire city for a magic user. They ususally lived higher-up on the economic food chain so penthouses were the logical place to go. After Grundcull got the powers he'd spend the next hour or so messing with people on the streets. Some were hard to use but others could be easily appplied. Mind control was his favorite. Grundcull's mind snapped out of thoughts of his game and back to standing on a ledge roughly four hundred stories high. He shimmed the window open as silently as possible, it only made a small creak when he slid it open. He jumped in silently and appraoched the bed of a black-haired man who appeared to be in his mid-fourties. He pressed his claw lightly to the man's head and willed himself to absorb the magic. The magic flowed but it felt... wrong. Instead of the warm flowing of life it was a sharp pain crawling up his arm. Eventually the pain crawled through to his entire body excpet the head. It inched it's way slowly up his spine then finally when it reached his brain he fell to the floor, unconcious. He opened his eyes and they were assulted by a very bright, white light. He closed them for several second then opened them again. It was a completely bare room with nothing but the glowing white walls and Grundcull. It reminded him of the compund he'd been held in in Russia. He sighed as he realized there wouldn't be much to do. Grundcull stood up and strolled around the room. He wasn't sure how much time had passed. It could have been a minute or a day of mindless walking when a door opened. A man in a white labcoat came out of it and smiled. "You realize I could drain you of all life right now, right?" Grundcull growled. "If you tried to do that you'd be knocked unconcious again," the man replied with a chuckle. Grundcull didn't like the guys attitude so he just growled again. "Y'know we've found others like you." Grundcull's ear pricked up at this statement. The man chuckled again and said, "Sadly they all died. We didn't know what they needed. But now we know. We'll give you people every week." "I don't need people," Grunducll said as he took a corked bottle out of his pocket. He took out the cork and plunged a claw in. Warm magic flowed through his system and he smiled. He pointed his closed fist at the man and opened it. A fiery explosion erupted from his hand. Grundcull dashed out of the room, exploding scientists when he felt it was needed. When he exited the compound he saw it was disguised as a large warehouse. Police sirens whirred and Grundcull muttered a string of swears as he jumped into a car and prepared to mke his getaway. Sadly, some punk was coming back to the car. A police officer was also walking towards the car. Apparently the kid thought the cop was going after him. He got in the car and Grundcull growled, "Drive now if you want to live!" |

Re: Unlikely Friends
Of course, I did not hesitate, but accelerated to a quick and smooth getaway, just as if I were suppose to be there. Destiny, I suppose. Anyway, I did not care who or what had just gotten into “my” car, but it was exciting, much like my powers had been. It had been just a week, and I were already crazy for action. While driving, I did not mind my passenger, except for a quick view when I looked to the right for traffic. He appeared human, but apparently not all my powers had left me, so I still sensed something about him that was not quite human.
A quick view in the mirror after getting on the highway revealed that I, we, were being chased by the cops. Luckily, the traffic was heavy, and I must admit I was a pretty good driver used to take risks, so I was not thinking of the consequences, only the thrill. I think a part of me understood that they would not only come from behind, but frankly, I was too engaged keeping track with the three police vans behind and dodging cars in front to think of other possibilities. It was not until the traffic cleared I got my thought clear, but by then it was too late. On the next ramp, the traffic was redirected down, past a couple of police officers. And on the highway a little further up, a road blockade of police vans were lined up, letting none past. “What now,” I asked the stranger beside me as I sped past the police officers towards the road blockade. OoC: Writing in first person is actually pretty cool. A new experience. And I do hope Grundcull have some tricks up his sleeve to get us out of this situation... |

Re: Unlikely Friends
OoC: He still has his explosions left, as shown below, and he has more magic bottles. Don't worry, he'll be going for awhile. >:3
BiC: "Just keep on driving while I do the hard stuff, kid," Grundcull said as hair grew from all over his body, his knees disappeared, his ankles grew higher and his general body structure changed. He was out of the stupid human form. He rolled down his window as swiftly as the electronic device could go then hooped out onto the roof of the car. There he crawled down to the edge of the hood where he opened both hands and gigantic explosions erupted from his palms. They incinerated all in their path, including the road blockade. He smiled at his little destruction. The moral of the story, humans, is not to **** with Grundcull. The beast swiflty got back in the car through the window and morphed back to his human form. "Hey kid, name's Grundcull. Call me whatever you want. I don't have any explosions left so try not to let the cops catch us; I'd like to save as much powers as I can." Grundcull didn't mind telling the kid his name and such. He'd likely just wipe his mind at the end of the venture. He was safe from the news reporters because no one would believe headlines saying, "Bear Creature Explodes Police Blockade". |

Re: Unlikely Friends
Ok, I admit I was a bit shocked when suddenly the burglar I had protected somehow shifted, morphed or whatever you call it, into a monster. I was not afraid, not at all, I had been in situations more bizarre than that, talking skulls, skeletons, moving statues… Nothing could shock me.
But as we passed the police blockades, my mind started working. He had powers, much like mine, he exploded things with just his mind. Perhaps, only perhaps, was he connected to my loss. Or perhaps he could find a way to get my powers back. “You! You have powers! Just like I!” I shouted out, pretty excited, “Only, that I lost mine…” The road was empty, and my stolen car was not second class. When I first stole it, I did not bother about the type, but I thanked the lord that I had found a Lamborghini. Overhead I heard a police chopper calling out for us to stop the car, but now I had once more reason not to be caught by the police. Stepping on the pedal, I accelerated away from the chasing police vans to give myself some room. “Can you help me to retrieve them?” |

Re: Unlikely Friends
Grundcull laughed. "I lose these powers daily. It's just the matter of finding a way to get them back." After he made the comment his mind turned to the boy's question. He contemplated what helping the boy would entail for him. It could possible be linked to those scientits, thereby getting him revenge. He also could find more of his own race, which would be the absolute best situation. The constant therumming of a chopper pounded against his sensitive ears and the smell og gasoline attacked his nose. He rolled up the open window and the smell dimmed slightly.
"I'll help ya but when I get what I need I'll leave. No questions." He waites several seconds for the boy to comprehend what he said then added, "You haven't told me your name and that's rude." |

Re: Unlikely Friends
”It’s a deal then!” Aronin said as they entered a tunnel. “My name is Aronin.”
He did not know why he had asked him, nor why the beast had accepted, but to him, it didn’t matter if he was lured into a trap or just being killed. He just needed his powers back. “We should be able to lose them in here. If you could just use one more explosion at the lights in the ceiling, it would most likely cause all the lights to go out. Then we jump out, and let the car crash. And then we stay in the shadows, or try to get out while the cops search the burning vehicle.” It was dangerous, yes, but Aronin didn’t bother much. They could not keep running, and the further they got away from the city, the further they got away from where they should be, he just had a feeling. Behind him in the tunnel, he could hear the sirens. The police cars had entered the tunnel. If he remembered correctly, the road separated in a few hundred meters, the ideal place to get away. “Blast the lights now!” he shouted, “and get ready to bail out!” |

|

|
Re: Unlikely Friends
Grundcull sighed, the plan all rode on his ability to get the lights out. He took out another bottle and stuck his finger in it. As if it knew he was in danger the magic shot up his arm in an instant instead of the ususal slow flow. He shot his hand up and it flew through the roof of the car. What was the point of preserving it if they were going to crash in a few seconds? Out of his hand shot an explosion that immeditaely destroyed the lights and all the other lights fizzled out aswell. He grabbed Aronin by the waist and picked him up. He hit the brakes on the car and it jerked to a halt then the beast pushed down with his muscular legs and the two flew out of the window. While soaring through the air Grundcull twisted his body and shot an explosion at the cieling. The fragile rocks come tumbling down and the poilce car collided with the Lambrugini. Grundcull turned and pressed his bosdy against the wall, sandwhiching Aronin between himself in the wall. The kid might mind the smell but it would save him from explosion damage. As this thought crept through Grundcull's mind the poilce car's fuel tank ignited, sending out a large explosion that hit Grundcull's entire back. He resisted the urge to open his mouth and yell, knowing the fire would go down his throat and burn something fierce. When the explosion ended Grundcull took out another bottle containing magic from a healer. Pink sparks gathered around the burns on his back and they healed quickly. He heard police sirens coming and saw the headlights of the cars farther down the tunnel. He let out several small explosions at the ceiling and it crumbled down, blocking the cars advance. He threw Aronin on his back and began sprinting away from the cars.
"Any idea where to go, kid?" he said, his breathing slightly struggled from the combined effort of lifting the extra weight, running, and talking. |

Re: Unlikely Friends
It was not exactly what I had in mind, but it got the job done. The police would have problems finding us now. But still, they knew that we were alive, and would not call the search off. We had to find a way out.
But I remember that what just had happened.. Explosions, I was almost unharmed, except for some scorches on my right, or left, forearm. Grundcull had protected me. Was it because I had something he needed? Or was it because I could lead him to something he needed? It was the first time I had thought of the situation. A bear like creature that just accepts my request for help? I didn’t get time to either thank him or to think more of the situation, as he sent out a few explosions, causing the ceiling to collapse. Then he grabbed me by the waist and threw me on his back, and started to run away. I could only barely hold onto him as I hang on his back. “Ba… ck to n,n,n ew yoh, ohk.” He slowed down to let me finish. “It’s easier to find hiding there. And I have this feeling that it’s there I should be. There is probably an emergency exit nearby where we can get out. But we should not take the first we find, as they would be expecting us to do that.” |

Re: Unlikely Friends
OoC: Took me a bit to understand what Aronin said.
![]() BiC: Grundcull sighed then smiled. "Actually they know we're smart so they know we'd think to go to the second emergency exit we find. They'll be at both of them. We'll take the third," he said then began running again. It was odd going through the tunnel. Pitch black with no noise except the two's breathing. He thought back to why he was even helping the little punk. His trail of thought always lead back to those scientists. They had, quite possibly, found a way to keep him from feeding. His thoughts flashed back to when he tried to feed on that man and he shook his head, shoving the thoughts to the back of his mind. By that time they'd reached the thrid emergency exit door. He set Aronin down so that he'd be out of the line of fire and opened the door. Three large men with bullet proof vests and pistols in their hands pointed the guns at Grundcull with an expression of shock. He simply smiled at them then grabbed one man by the top of his head and turned it quickly. The man dropped to the floor, dead while one of his partners jumped back so Grundcull couldn't reach him while the other stood frozen in fear. He snapped the neck of the one closest to him and then looked at the other. The man shot off several shots at Grundcull and his jaw opened wide as the small bullets merely bounced off his tough skin. Grundcull smiled and punched the man in the nose. The punch was so hard the man's nose went inside his head and hit his brain, killing him. He stepped through the door to make sure no one else was there. The coast seemed clear so he threw Aronin on his back again and ran. Several minutes of running later and Grundcull and Aronin were within city limits. Grundcull realized that a man piggy-backing another man would be easily identifiable. He set Aronin down on the edge of a street then walked into the middle of a freeway. A car stopped infront of him and he approached it, walking calmly. He made an apologetic face and motioned for the person to roll down their window. As soon as they did Grundcull's hand darted out and unlocked the door. He opened it quickly and threw the person out of the car. That's what they got for not wearing their seatbelt. Aronin got into the passenger seat and they drove off in the yellow 911 Porsche. "First thing's first," he said. "We need to get a change of clothes. You also need to get a hat or something to cover your face." Grundcull had already morphed his own head to brown eyes, brown hair, and a crewcut hairstyle. He was on course for a relatively cheap clothing store as he spoke. OoC: Dress-up time! |

Re: Unlikely Friends
”What? Clothes? Wha..”
I was really tired after riding on Grundcull the few miles till we came to a road. I only remember faintly that he placed me into a car, and said I needed clothes. I fell asleep shortly after, watching Grundcull change into a human. He was nice for a monster, I thought. I woke up with a start when I suddenly felt Grundcull push me, and the back of the seat, down. He motioned that I should remain calm, and continued driving. I saw the top of a police car through the window. “We need to get you a disguise, now,” he said and entered the highway towards New York. I fell asleep again, only to wake up what seemed like only a minute later when Grundcull stopped the car. I yawned and got out of the car, glaring at the low sun. It was almost six o’clock and I was wery hungry, so a disguise was not on the top of my list. “I need food first. Do we time for a hot dog?” OoC: Finally got to it, and the quality sucks... And can you forgive me the PP? |

Re: Unlikely Friends
Grundcull glanced at the sun and guessed the time to be about 6 o'clock. He then glanced at Aronin for a moment for a rouch estimate of his sizes then sighed.
"Fine," he said, "go get something over there," here he motioned at a small resteraunt across the street then continued, "and take this." Grundcull pressed his pistol into Aronin's hand then turned to go to the clothing store. First he found himself a white button-up shirt with sleeves that he rolled up to his elbows, black pants, and brown boots. He then went about looking for clothes for Aronin. After several minutes he went to the desk with blue jeans, a green shirt with a white Nike logo, and black tennis shoes. He also had a black baseball cap to cover Aronin's face and a small conatiner of make-up to cover the give0away scar on his face. He nervosuly glanced around as gum chewing woman checked out the items. He payed the proper amount then dashed to the place he had pointed Aronin to. The chatter of people greeted Grundcull's ears as he entered the dimly lit building. He realized he didn't know how the kid made the reservation. He hoped the kid had some wits about him and said, "I'm with the Mr. Cull that came in here several minutes ago." "He's right over there," the woman with a thick country accent told him. Grundcull smiled and walked to where she had indicated and found Aronin waiting for food. He sat down and told the waitress he wanted water when she asked him. He handed Aronin his bag of clothes and accesories while he said, "Go change in the bathroom and then we'll plan how we'll go about getting your... abilities back." OoC: Quality is low in this one and I feel like here's a hint of power playing in it so the wait time is null and void. ![]() |

Re: Unlikely Friends
The restaurant Grundcull had chosen was a dimly lit restaurant. Whether it was on purpose or just a coincidence, I did not know. But either way, it was pretty practical. I noticed a small table at the far side of the restaurant, away from the windows, and asked for that table when the waiter came, and got it.
Of course, I didn’t want to give away my name, and I expected Grundcull to easily locate me if he got back, so I simply said my name was Smith and ordered a pizza. It took not long until Grundcull arrived, in his human form. I did not recognize him until a waitress directed him over to my table. After ordering water, he showed me some cloths he had bought, and placed a jar of makeup beside the bag, and pointed at my scar. I simply nodded and went into the bathroom to change. I took the biggest stall I could find, and got dressed. But then, when I was about to apply the makeup, on instinct I reached out my hand, and the bottle of makeup soared into my hand. At first, I didn’t think about it, but as I began applying makeup, I realized why I did it. I had lost my powers, and now I had to get them back. But now I already had them back? I tried again. Nothing happened.. Was it just imagination? Some makeup and a cap later I stepped out to the restaurant where Grundcull were eating my pizza. I sat down at the table and picked up a slice. “Nice,” Grundcull remarked about the change. “Yeah… Green is really my color,” I said and started on my slice. “You know, I think I haven’t really lost my powers. I think I moved the jar just now. But I can’t do it now. You don’t think it’s a sickness or something? Do you by any chance know any “magic” doctors, scientists or something?” “Here’s your receipt, mr. Smith,” the waiter said and handed me the bill. “Have a nice day.” Grundcull looked at the waiter with a strange look, and back at me. “What? I can pay...” I said and took forth my wallet. |

Re: Unlikely Friends
Grundcull sipped his water and paused for a moment, gathering his thoughts. He looked directly into the woman's eyes and attempted to use his Fear ability but all she did was blink. The woman obviously wasn't human or she'd be a blithering wreck after Grunducll's look.
"Didn't you lead me to Mr. Smith after I asked for a Mr. Cull?" Grundcull questioned. The girl paused a moment before responding in an innocent voice. "I'm sorry, it must have been my hearing aid. I think it need new batteries." As she said this the girl took a small object from her ear and held it in her palm. After a few seconds she put it back. That hardly explains it, Grundcull thought but replied, "We'll be on our way then." He drew a twenty dollar bill from his pocket and muttered, "Keep the change." When he went to stand up his shoe got caught on a leg of the table and he tripped. To keep himself from falling down he caught himself on the waitresses' shoulder. "My apologies," he said and then left the bulding with Aronin following him closesly. They continued walking for several miments, cars whizzing by them and the occasional enraged driver giving an angry honk at the old lady ifnront of them. Eventually he led Aronin to a dark alley where stray cats prowled about, eating in the occasional garbage can. "She had magical abilities," Grundcull said, his voice breaking the silence of the dark alley. "When I caught myself on her shoulder I absorbed some of her magic. She apparntly boradcasts her thougts over large distances. I get the feeling that hearing aid was some form of communications device." |

Re: Unlikely Friends
”Like, she’s working for someone?” Aronin said carefully? “And what did she want? Did she know about us or was it just a coincidence?”
“Coincidence? Probably not,” Grundcull said, and was about to continue when Aronin interrupted him. “But then if she was magic, and is part of some organization, probably specializing in magic, then they can get my abilities back! Let’s go back and ask her.” He was about to turn when he saw Grundcull roar out in rage, and turned sharply around. Out of his neck, an electric needle of some kind protruded. At the far side of the alley, two men had appeared, one carrying a rifle of some kind, and the other sporting a white lab coat. “So, we meet again, beast. Don’t believe we’ll let you go that easily.” Aronin looked at Grundcull, and saw that he was again the creature he had become in the car. Foam came out of his mouth as he charged against the two persons. The scientist took his hand out of his pocket, and pressed a button on the remote he was holding. Grundcull let out a growl, and fell lifeless to the ground. “What did you do to him?” Aronin yelled as he ran up to him. “A simple thanks would be enough. He was about to eat you, or something. He eats peoples abilities.” “But I don’t have one. Not anymore.” Aronin said confused. And suddenly it dawned upon him why Grundcull was so easily persuaded. It was because then he would be able to eat him… “He would?” Aronin said in disbelief. He could not believe it, for a second. By then, four more persons, each with a similar rifle as the first person, had arrived, and a black car had been parked at the end of the alley. Aronin could only stand and watch as the soldiers dragged the furred shape across the alley and into the car. “He escaped us once. But we didn’t take all precautions. Trust me, it won’t happen again.” The scientist said as he followed Aronin to another car waiting beside. “So, you don’t have any powers? Any ideas of why he met you?” Aronin hesitated. What would he say? That he stole a car, and Grundcull just came in? “It’s a bit complicated… I kinda.. stole a car, and then Grundcull hijacked it. But I had powers. I just have lost them…” By then, the scientist became interested. Aronin had to tell everything, that it was not Grundcull that had taken his powers, but that he had lost them a week ago. He had to tell about the dome, which the scientist were strangely familiar with. And by the time he had arrived at the destination, wherever that was, the scientist knew everything about him. Of course, with the help of a serum he had secretly injected into Aronin when he lead him to the car. OoC: Ressistance is futile. All precautions is taken so that Grundcull cannot escape his prison. I will only let Aronin get his power back, and introduce a new character I have been working on for a long time. (actually, three). Just let Grundcull wake up in his prison and let him have a chat with the scientist, will ya? |

Re: Unlikely Friends
Grundcull woke up with a nasty headache and a rough cloth rubbed against his hary arms as he tried to stand up. He looked down and sighed at the straight jacket around him and the shackles on his feet. He attempted to break free but there was no budge. He sat back down and reste dhis head against the wall.
A scientist opened the steel cell door and entered, taking a seat at the far side of the room. "So the Russians finally contacted the Americans about their secret project?" Grundcull asked. He winced slightly as he remembered the pain of being in an explosion. The scientist clapped sarcastically and said, "Good show, Mr. Cull." The scientist said it in a tongue-in-cheek manner. "So where's the boy I was with?" Grundcull asked. He realized he was in no place to ask the man questions but he obbiously would ask Grundcull questions later. "He's in this complex. We're quite interested in his powers, actually," the man replied with a smug grin on his pale face. "Suppose you know everything about him by now," Grundcull mumbled. "That's of no importance now. What I really want to know about is you. Where were you born? When we--" the man was cut-off by Grundcull here. "You get no information until I get food. A regular man is fine but I need him soon. My bones are beginning to grow weary and if I die you lose a well of information." The man stood up and left, grumbling in an undertone to himself. |

Re: Unlikely Friends
When Aronin wake up, he was in a room. Not a prison, but the door was locked. As he turned back after trying the door, he looked around the room. It was mostly white, with dark green furniture. The sheets were white and the chairs were black, but the small table and the locker in the corner were green. Same was the footlocker at the end of the bed.
He sat down at the bed and pressed his palm against his aching head. It felt like he had gotten a concussion of some kind, or like he had been drugged the night before. Yesterday was all a blur, but he remembered something about a brown bear, or black. He couldn’t remember. Then there was this white guy who had asked him a lot of questions. He lied back down on the bed, waiting for something to happen. The scientist watched the room in the briefing room along with the gamma team. Dan, Mike and Rose. The room was a simple room with no windows, but with three big screens showing information around the walls, and a round table in the middle. The four persons sat around the table watching the room through the screens mounted in the table, one for each person. “Aronin Orino. Norwegian, male, and apparently got the power of telekinesis. Threat level: green,” the scientist told the team. “So, why are we involved?” Dan asked and looked at the man in the bed. “Because he might become red. We don’t know, as it’s not sure if he got the powers he claims he got.” “Telekinesis? So what?” the guy called Mike said and leaned backwards. “He does not even have any powers now.” “Telekinesis, the ability to move and manipulate matter. We still are working out the general details of the power and how it works, but it is quite powerful. Possibly more powerful than the aura users.” The scientist rose and walked around the room towards one of the screens showing a simulation of molecules and rays. “It is believed that the telekinetic rays are not only able to move particles, but also to manipulate the properties of a particle such as temperature and spin, resulting in… unexpected results. Everything, and I mean everything, such as light, gravity, time perhaps… Everything that is both known and unknown might be affected by those particles. Either, he learns to control his powers, or he might cause a catastrophe. If we are lucky, he might only destroy himself, but the worst possible scenario is that the whole universe is destroyed.” “So, why not kill him now?” Mike remarked and looked at the scientist with a lifted brow. “Because he might prove useful. You are to look out for him, and make sure he survives until his powers awaken, if they should do so.” “Baby sitting? We are the most advanced team on this planet, and you are asking us to be baby sitters?” Mike stood up and was almost yelling at the scientist. Dan stood up and motioned that Mike should sit down. “Don’t overreact Mike. He’s not asking us. It’s an order,” he said and looked in his eyes. “But he got a point. We are not baby sitters. We are trained in the most advanced combat, and we should be using our knowledge and abilities to the good for this organization.” The scientist simply looked at him and waited a bit before answering. “Are you done? Good. Your task is to make sure he does not get into any fight he cannot handle. You are to make sure he is not killed. And as you said, that’s an Order!” “Yes sir,” Dan said as he sat down with an angry look on his face. He didn’t like it, but it was an order, and he was the leader. The scientist left the room, leaving the three alone. “Your say Rose? You’ve been quite silent,” Dan said and put his feet on the table, leaning back. “I don’t know,” she said and looked at Aronin though her screen. “He sure doesn’t look dangerous, but… It’s an order.” “Mike?” “Bullocks!” he snorted, but was interrupted by Dan before he could continue. “I agree. But we are going to do it, whatever it takes. But I will promise you that I will do whatever I can to make the best out of it. Dismissed.” Rose used her feet to drag the chair Dan was sitting on closer to the table, causing him to topple backwards and onto the floor. There was a short time of silence before they all burst out in laughter. “Please stop that! We got this feeder to feed. We don’t need more than a level 1.” The scientist had come back and was now shaking his head at the strange humor of the team the company had invested billions into. “A recon team reported of a hobo not far away from the central park with potential level 1 powers. Bring him back. Dawn will give you instructions.” “Yes sir,” the team said and stood up. |

Re: Unlikely Friends
The scientist from before came in an with him he brought a shortman with odd gloves around his hands.
"Here," he scientist said as he pushed the man with gloved hands in. There were several seconds of silence between the three but eventually Grundcull said, "I need atleast one claw free to eat." "Okay," the scientist said and stepped out of the room. The door closed then the straightjacket beeped and fell off the vampire. He stood up and stretched, attempting to get blood flow to his arms. "I'll be gentle," he said with a toothy grin to the man infront of him. He set a claw on the man's forehead and the worm flow of magic spread throughout Grundcull's body. "What's your power?" he asked the man. "As far as I know I can just emit sparks from my fingers," the man replied, his voice nearly cracking from nerves. "Interesting," Grundcull said and halted the connection to the man's magic. "I assume you leave now," he said and walked over to his little corner. "Okay..." The man opened the door and left without a sound. Grundcull began the quick process of learning the ins and outs of a power. At first he only know that he could make small, blue sparks emit from each finger. A few minutes later he turned those into little streams. Within five minutes he could make a ball of electricity in one hand. Nearly a half a minute later he made it one giant ball of electricity using both hands. As he worked he formed a plan of escape. The one thing that kept coming up was whether to get Aronin or not. He eventually decided to let the boy pick whether he went with him or not. |

Re: Unlikely Friends
”Specimen 452Beta-2: Feeder. The second feeder is a much more powerful specimen than the one in holding bay 43, Nevada. Feeded an hour ago, Level 1 electricity. Adaption: Severe. From small sparks, the specimen was able to create balls of electricity in less than five minutes. Precautions: Electricity conductor in addition to regular procedures. Possessions are now being looked through in the science lab.”
The scientist completed his memo and looked at Grundcull through the glass. Behind him, Aronin was lead into the room by another person which appeared unarmed. “Ah, there you are. Now, I thought you would like to see this Grundcull again, after he almost ate you,” the scientist said as he turned at Aronin. It’s pretty terrible, you know. We just moved him after we feeded him a renegade with powers, it becomes such a mess afterwards. Just look, he’s experimenting with his newly taken powers right now.” Aronin watched through the one-way glass, and saw Grundcull sitting in a corner, running small bursts of electricity through his fingers. He seemed unobvious of their presence, and the scientist assured him the glass was a one way see-through, which calmed Aronin a bit down. He remembered what he was told yesterday, and was frightened at what he could have ended up as. “You said he had been here once before?” Aronin asked. “Yes, but unfortunate, we did not take the necessarily precautions, which is done now. He won’t escape that cell unless someone opens it on purpose.” Aronin nodded and turned to go out. The other guy followed him out, as well as the scientist. The scientist led him to a lab, filled with other scientists, vials, screens, computers and other things. They passed most of it, until they reached another door, leading to a room with some sort of x-ray machine. “Now, if you please. We need to take some tests, to see what we can do about your missing powers,” the scientist said and motioned to the machine. “This here is doctor Joslavi, and he will perform the necessarily measures.” A pretty old man turned and looked at Aronin, which caused Aronin to look away, as his face was missing almost everything of the left cheek, almost up to the eye. With a thick Russian accent, the man introduced himself, and gave a short explanation to his look. One of his patients had reacted badly to the treatment, and… Aronin just held up his hands to gesture he did not wish to hear it anymore. Aronin was lead to the machine, it started to hum as it powered up and lights came on from every directions, bathing him in the light. After a while, he was led back to his room, while the scientists remained to examine the results. |

Re: Unlikely Friends
Grundcull's plan wasn't very complicated. Now that he thought about it was quite simple. It relied mostly on what the Scientist's didn't know about him.
He pounded on the wall and said clearly, "I need someone for food, preferably the same as last time." "In a moment," was the reply from the ceiling, After a minute or so the same man as last time walked in. "I still have a bit of a headache from last time," the man said while rubbing the side of his head. "That's not important right now. Come here," Grundcull replied, motioning for the man to come closer. The man approached timidly and sat down by Grundcull. Grundcull spent the next five minutes teaching the man the ins and outs of his powers. They whispered as quietly as possible so the scientists wouldn't cath onto their plan. "Now tell me how much electricity those gloves can hold in." "Well they are only designed to withstand the sparks..." The man didn't seem to understand yet. "I've just shown you how to make balls of electricity in your hands. Those gloves only stand up to the tiniest of sparks. See where I'm going here." Grundcull was impatient and didn't want someone with the brain capacity of a turtle as a partner. Atleast a turtle made a good shield... "Oh," the man said and his eyes lit up with excitement. "They'll probably get alerted if you break them now so wait. Would you like to escape this place?" "Yes. Yes, I would," the man said and nodded his head. "Good. Now go outside and reak havoc. When everything is good and done come back for me." The man nodded and walked casually back to the door leading him out. Nearly a minute later Grundcull heard shouts and a warning alarm went off. He smiled and began trying to break his chains around his feet with his hands. |
