Where there's Fire, there's These Two. [Cio E:]

The black elf Vyn Valin shadowsidled into the village. During eventide, he hunted for blood.

As he stepped silently into a nearby house, not making a sound, his tongue swept against his lips, and his fangs bore themselves.

"Blood, blood is what I need..." he whispered longingly, walking into a young man's room. Leaning over his sleeping guise, Vyn drank deeply. And then he crept outside of the house, running into the forest. Trees passed at some eighty miles per hour, the speed of his sprint. Nowhere near his destination, he stopped abruptly. Something around him was altered in some way...

Vyn did not notice the fact that the whole forest was on fire until a fireball shot past his left ear. Spinning around, he saw a short man holding up a piece of paper. Smiling, the man threw the paper on the ground and let it burn.

"The sign said you were wanted. I don't know why; you're a pretty disgusting sight to behold." Vyn did not even twitch. "I'll work on that one."

The man raised his arms, one clutching a gnarled staff, and a few seconds later let his hands go. A jet of flame rolled out of the staff, straight towards the dvunrae. Still unmoving, he waited. The only moving he did until the flame made contact with him, actually, was the gripping of his sword's hilt. His skin glowed green for a second, and the flame was launched back with even greater power. Although at first heading toward the fire mage directly, they arced around him without making contact.

Vyn's two swords came out of their sheaths.

"Your blood is mine."

Re: Where there's Fire, there's These Two. [Cio E:]

OoC: You don't have your characters in your sig... ;___;

BiC:

It wasn't always in Quintana's nature to go after those who were wanted. Quite frankly, he didn't want to help anyone, nor did he want it for the glory. But this man peeked his interest. That was the sole reason for his venturing into this forest.

Sneering, the pixie looked over the swords, “Is that really all you have? I'm really scared. Look at me, shaking in my boots.” He walked forward, the fire around him seeming quite fitting. Though it didn't do much for his image, he looked up at the man menacingly. Sensing this oddness in height, he said, “I'll have you know to never underestimate your enemy.”

Quickly, he began to flap his wings, the wind spurring on the flames around him, making them rise. And, with that, he'd bridged the height gap. He almost wanted to retort with a 'what now', though that would most likely ruin the stranger's idea of his attitude. Instead he called forth his magic casually with a flip of the hair covering his face. His hands became engulfed in the fire instantly.

Playfully, he morphed it into a ball of fire and threw it into the depths of the already burning forest. Daniel then flew a few feet back, “Enough of my mastery of fire. Why don't we see some of your wonderful skills.” He took no heed in hiding his condescending tone.

The man merely stood there, swords at the ready, looking as though he would leap out at any second.

All Quintana could do was stare back. His hand twitched slightly, his staff gleaming in the early moonlight. His eyebrow rose, slightly, sensing that he should make the first move. I didn't want to have to make the first move... that always leads to a harder battle... Still, the pixie wasn't patient enough for this.

“I guess you have no skills to show, otherwise you would have by now,” the mage rushed forward, staying wary of the blades. His hands were aflame and his eyes shone with an equally shimmering heat. “Let's see if you'll remain wanted after this.”

Re: Where there's Fire, there's These Two. [Cio E:]

Vyn's blades were almost instantly out of their sheaths as the mage circled the air around him with grace. Quintana raised his staff once again, then raised his other hand; a huge wave of flame rose from the earth, trying to swallow the black elf. With no such luck (as the fire moved around him) he engulfed the blades of his swords in a potent poison enchantment, one that would numb the enemy wherever it hit. And so he sprinted towards Quintana immediately, swords wavering around in a dance that meant death.

Skillfully and intricately twisting and wavering his staff, the fairy boy managed to hold the elf off for a few moments. But as the dvunrae's attacks grew in their aggression, he hit harder and faster, knocking Quintana off balance. And as soon as Quintana's hands were forced up by a few vertical strikes that were executed by Vyn, he struck with a jet of flame. What Quintana did was spin around, and the fire began to twist, as well as split into two seperate jets, completely avoiding him.

He kept spinning, then took wing, the fire playfully spiraling around him. And as he turned, its temperature greatly rose. He turned all the way around to fly straight towards Vyn. In an attack that assumed a flaming drill, he launched himself towards the elf. Vyn tried to sidestep it, but the lightweight fairy boy was much faster. He rammed himself into Vyn's feathery robe, and it burst into flame. Vyn himself was thrown to the side.

The angered elf extinguished the flames with his own will, and glared at Quintana with the promise of death.

"That was cold. Unlike your robe," he smirked. Vyn gripped his swords tightly, sheets of ice enshrouding them. He raised them up, and used Triturate. Quintana tried to fly away, but found his wings too heavy.

Aggrandize was next. And the swords impaled his hands, as well as froze them to the stem.

OoC: Sorry, that was kind of mean D: But Vyn is a ruthless elf.

Re: Where there's Fire, there's These Two. [Cio E:]

OoC: Once again your lack of character links in your sig makes me sad. D: But, since I took forever, I guess we're even...

BiC:

Immediately he could feel the effects of Vyn's attack. His moments became sluggish and his wings would no longer lift him off the ground. He turned back, deciding offensive would be the only course of action left for him. But, as he turned to face his opponent, he saw the previous normal sized swords enlarge, closing in on his hands, penetrating his skin and forcing him to his knees in pain.

The pixie wanted to scream out in anguish, feeling the nerves in his hands being severed and hearing the bones cry in pain. Nevertheless, all he allowed himself to do was grit his teeth and sneer, “Oh, that's soo very painful.” As usual, the sarcasm dripped off his tongue, or perhaps it was blood from biting. Either way, Quintana pulled his hands back, feeling them numb chilled, almost quite literally. Though, perhaps it was literally.

Nothing seemed to be going his way. And, his sarcastic view of things never helped brighten it up. Yet, he braced himself, not prepared to lose in the least. His decision to prepare himself wavering ever so slightly. Of course, it quickly shifted to him just wanting to take this guy out, regardless of the beating he would get. Even if his hands felt worse as the time ticked by. How, at this very moment, he wished he could use his healing magic on himself. How, at this single instant, he wished he could deliver an all out punch without bringing more harm to himself than his enemy. Unfortunately at this moment and instant in time, neither was possible.

He looked at the elf, smiling as casually as he could manage. “Is that really all? Oh, I suppose I should show you how us pixies battle,” gripping his staff weakly, the fire burst from the center point, slowly seeping out. “that is, if you can stand the heat.” In a rapid release, a surge of flame shot out at the elf, it's pure heat evident with its shimmering blue color. The continuous fire went on for longer than the mage had ever managed.

Quintana dared not look into eye of the fire, for fear his attack was doing nothing. He dared not stop the heat for fear that he could not keep the staff up. He dared not speak for fear that his concentration would be broken and all would be for naught. For once, the pixie was still, taking this fight far more seriously than any he'd ever encountered before. He was completely unsure on why he'd been sucked in so far into the fire of this fight, but he liked it.
