Arrow Second Ever battle of the Sphere

OOC: All involved know what they're getting in to. Anyone else should read my post in the ooc thread or find the thread, "Come One, Come all" a bit down the page, or maybe on the next(how can i be sure...) Anyhoo, here we go again.

BIC: Dang waited in the lobby, waiting for participants and spectators to congeale in and around the stadium.

"It feels good to be here again," Dang sighed, excited despite his calm demeanor. "I can't wait for it to start." He added, belieing his excitement.

BoB:IT'S TIME FOR THE SCOND BATTLE IN THE SPHERE!!!!!!! LET'S GET STARTED THEN! WE ARE ONCE AGAIN PROWD TO BE HOSTED BY THE ONE AND ONLY DANG MAN-CI, WHO'S FAMOUS AROUND HERE FOR HIS SPEED AND STRANGE STYLE OF BATTLE. A WORTHY OPPONENT FOR ANY MAN.(Yes BoB now speaks in italics as well as all caps.)

"You're too kind, really," Dang said, almost inaudibly after Bob's thundering voice. Raising it, "But, I believe, although I am participating. It is time to introduce our other battlers."

With that, he walked toward the large domed shield, and the mages dropped thier barrier to admit him. Nodding to the white mages standing at the ready, he allowed himself a moment of calm to compose himself as Bob thundered out his opponent's names, with a short description, showing that he is much better informed than Dang had originally thoguh when hiring him.

OOC: It is assumed that the match time limit remains, one half hour, then we have a two minute intermission. be sure to keep timers

Re: Second Ever battle of the Sphere

The lights of the arena quickly seared through the mercenary's battle hardened face as he entered the arena in a confident disposition, with an almost beaming visage. His eyes narrowed into razor sharp slits of fury as he began to surrvey the surrounding area. An announcer's voice thundered throughout the sphere as the boisterous crowd whooped with deafining cheers restlessly as more fighters began to show themselves. As he examined the others from a range, he went from a haughty smirk to a shrewd scowl of great vigor. He let loose his arms and flexed his hands, as well as cracking his neck as the final contestants finally arrived, hoping to give his opponents the impression of the fight they were to receive in a matter of minutes or seconds. His hands had the urge to just suddenly draw, but his eagerness to battle swelled up in the pride and ego he was exhibiting. Indeed, the resounding echo of grinding steel was such a good start to an exhilirating spar. Of course, he could settle for something more ...lethal, he chuckled to himself as the thought raced through his mind. He raised his head again from his thoughts and set out to meet the ordeal.

Re: Second Ever battle of the Sphere

OoC: I'm all still very new to the Battle arena scene... Who is fighting who again? Other than that, I am happy to have Brather fight here, and all I can say is... IT'S ABOUT TIME! I got tired of waiting...

BiC: Brather pulled her staff from the sheath on her back. She didn't pay attention to the shouts of spectators or even the faint smell of spice that was stuck in her clothes for some unknown reason.

Closing her eyes, she did a few practice moves and some kicks. She felt embarassed to do such things in front of people, being anti-social, but she knew that this fight would be challenging. She had covered her symbols with skin colored clay to make her seem less menacing, but now she was regreting it. Looking intimidating could win an edge over some of the toughest opponents...

Forgetting her exercises, Brather did some complex stretches to make sure there were no complications. Seeing that there were none, she waited on the last few fighters to enter, and she observed those who already had.

Re: Second Ever battle of the Sphere

OOC- I will be using Nicoli
I've been waiting to get into the BA for about a month now, so I'm ready to go!

BIC- “I see this guy has a taste for theatrics...” Nicoli said with a sarcastic smirk, “It’s a good thing he’s not battling, or else he’d be gone within a few minutes...”

As the bright lights of the stadium shown down upon him, and the roars of the crowd made him feel that the upcoming battle was at hand, Nicoli looked at his opponents. One seemed to be cocky to the point of arrogance. The brown haired man was laughing to himself as he also examined the competitors.
“One's personality will make or break you...”

There was also a very muscular man standing in the arena, only saying a few words to the anouncer.

Nicoli looked around once more to notice a very tall girl, apparently, going through her routine.
“That girl seems to be fairly disciplined... She’ll be a challenge...”
He chuckled to himself, “Speaking of which, I need to complete my preparations...”
Nicoli then unveiled his sword, remembering how he had obtained it.

Re: Second Ever battle of the Sphere

Mmmm... contest. Sounds fun. Chronos' link is on my sig.

BiC:

When Chronos' name was called by BoB, people's heads turned. He wasn't famous, but at the same time people had heard the name. Chronos walked out modestly to the cheering fans. To the others he seemed completely normal, save for the fact that his face was shrouded in black cloth, along with the rest of his body. Only the short brown hair was visible, flailing everywhere, turning from brown to grey with the breeze.

The others began to size him up, but saw him as a minor threat, for though he was strong and musclular, he didn't seem to have any magic on his side. One walked up to him to shake his hand, a girl. He looked down on her with a look of confusion coming from his mask.

He took the hand, the girl felt a grip of iron from inside the glove. The tall man shrugged and waited in a corner, leaning onto a column pole.

OoC: I don't care who Chronos fights, just make sure you read his info completely if you fight him.

Re: Second Ever battle of the Sphere

OoC: I'll use...Axis. The link to him is "Immortal Eye Fighters." He's down the list a little.

BiC:

The robot, BoB, scanned the arena, shouting out the next name on the list.

"AXIS IS THE NEXT FIGHTER!"

There was a lengthy silence, which was broken when what appeared to be a person wearing a ragged, trashy, baggy jean jacket showed up. The jacket had a flannel hood that draped over his eyes, his youthful chin pointedly sticking out from beneath it as he walked silently into the arena, his old jeans and old tennis shoes making him look like a nobody. The other competitors stared at his lank physique, wondering how in the hell he could put up a challenge. The weirdest thing was that even with all the crappy attire he had on, he either had metal hands or silver gloves on.

No one cheered for the nobody, just watched with intent. There was a dark, mechanical crackle as the figure slammed his fists together, taking a stance on one foot.

"...Perhaps a way to test my power..." He muttered in a low, irritated tone, a string of black hair falling in front of his nose. A streak of green electricity rippled across his body, making him recoil a bit, stopping at his ear.

Axis waited casually for the event to begin.

Re: Second Ever battle of the Sphere

OoC: I will be using my newly approved character. Link in my sig.

BiC: The whole stadium was bustling with activity, and raucous shouting. The announcer's voice calling out each fighter's name. Onimura was unusually calm, ignoring the activity manifesting, and encompassing him. He was meditating. Gathering in his surroundings, and sensing other oppenent's presence. He stood there, quiet, already thinking up a stratagem. Tetseari, lingering by his side calmy, sharing Onimura's
thoughts. They had no reason to be feverish of of the fight to come. In all reality, they didn't have any thoughts as to why he even entered in the fight. He just knew...that this was going to be an event to remember.

Ooc: Alright, let's get this thing started.

Re: Second Ever battle of the Sphere

OoC: Whoo! ^_^ That was actually kinda fun. Alright, let's get it on!

BiC: Blitz waited impatiently in the lobby, leaning his back against the wall for support with his arms and legs crossed, contemplating the fighters that had already arrived and what many were likely to come. His runic clothes which had been all but destroyed in the castle of clouds had been refitted and completely repaired by the Alliance. Of those he had seen already enter the arena, there were seven interesting combatants. That Axis character, though, was most intriguing. Blitz could sense something vaguely familiar about the man, and yet something haunting as well; still, he could not quite put his finger on whom or what the man reminded him of. Another fighter that particularly interested him was that young girl, Brather, though not in the way that most men would be interested. In fact, Blitz was almost intimidated by her. After all, he had never enjoyed fighting women; something about it had always seemed wrong. But what an odd name for a woman! Still, he wondered what she was capable of. The fact that she was nervous—which was made obvious by her perspiration and the desperately composed look in her eye—did not lend to her fighting ability, Blitz knew. In fact, a nervous opponent could sometimes be the most dangerous. And that other person… Nicoli was his name? He seemed far too young to be involved in such a heated competition. What am I thinking? chided Blitz to himself, chuckling. Size doesn’t matter; it never has.

A few of the other combatants in the room were looking at him suspiciously. They had been roused by his chuckling, and Blitz was a little worried that he might have unwittingly thought aloud. Hmm… I shall have to be more careful about that. After noting each of them just for familiarity’s sake, he returned to his contemplations.

The others—Dang Man-Ci, Chronos, and Onimura—did not seem terribly dangerous, but he would have to keep his guard up. After all, he knew nothing of anyone here. Their pasts, their skill with their weapon, and whatever mysterious powers they might possess, were all a mystery. I will have to be careful, or this might not bode well for—

“…KEIR! WHILE HIS FIRST NAME HAS NOT BEEN REVEALED, HIS SURNAME IS THAT OF A MYSTERIOUS LINEAGE THOUGHT TO HAVE DISAPPEARED ENTIRELY! HIS RUNIC SWORD WAS CRAFTED BY THIS VERY RACE OF PEOPLE!”

“Gah?!” cried Blitz without thinking, jumping in shock. Now the others in the lobby were definitely suspicious of him, and each was eyeing him with the sincerest scrutiny. How the Hells did he know any of that?! thought Blitz in a motley anger and surprise. All of that information was very well-guarded by the Alliance; even they did not know everything about the Keirs from which he descended. How could this machine, BoB, know about the Keirs and the weapon they had crafted so long ago? It’s impossible! He had not even been listening to the robot until now; who knew how much classified information it had given out?

“ER…KEIR?”

It then occurred to Blitz that he should probably be on-stage by now. He was still feeling miffed, however, and placed one hand on the pommel of his sword for comfort. He’s lucky that I am not currently in service of the Alliance, or I’d slay that idiot robot right now. Although, the prospect is very tempting… Still gripping his swordhilt, he strode up the small flight of stairs that led up and into the arena. A shower of cheers met him as he peaked the staircase, leaving behind the skeptical fighters still waiting in the lobby. His eyes scanned the crowd carefully, seeking out a particular individual. Where is she…? Just then, a loud whistle echoed above the crowd. Instinctively, Blitz’ eyes locked onto the source of the sound. At the head of the bleachers, whistling with all her might, was his beloved. She was shouting something, but her voice was drowned out by the crowd which was roaring in excitement; yet Blitz could tell that whatever she was saying was encouraging. He gave her a smile, not positive that she could see it. A moment later, she smiled back.

Alright, he thought, let’s get this show on the road! He himself was fueled with a positive nervous energy. Only once had he ever fought in a tournament before, and that had been one of his missions. This one was purely for entertainment, and he intended with every bone in his body to enjoy it.

Re: Second Ever battle of the Sphere

OOC: I believe everyone's here, so without further ado. Oh wait, I do have something to say... Since when is BoB a robot? I never said that, and it's my character-thing. I'm not sure who said it first, but he was meant to be human, just a very loud herald.

And, it's been brought to my attention that I didn't publicly state that I want this turn-based. Order of firts post seems fair, so after me is

Frost Guardian
ZeldaFanPlus
Alehandro
Power Shot
Shade
Darth Numra
Wielder of the Sword
COTAhanger, etc.

NOW, we can start.

BIC: Dang watched as the last of the combatants took their positions at the lighted beacons, placed evenly about the stadium. He was tingling with anticipation, and drew his sword, holding it overhead and forward at a 45 degree angle with the ground. He drew his right hand around and held it in front of him, palm out. Gathering his wits, he closed his eyes and concentrated, experiencing a wonderful feeling of glee as the timer was set and another, smaller timer began the countdown. The seconds dragged into hours, or so it seemed to Dang, but in reality, the ten seconds were moving rather quickly.

3..... 2..... 1.....

GO!!!!!

Re: Second Ever battle of the Sphere

The simply word was barely audiable to the hardened mercenary as he surged forward towards the center of the incoming fray. The sound of grinding metal clanged throughout as Arthur drew his colossal zweihander from its well decorated seath. His firece eyes flared about as they began to scan and surrvey the arena for the first of his hapless prey. He was sure that he was first and of course, he would have the better ground. He was not usually one to be of such impulse, but with a quick glance at his rather furitive rivals, he had derived that they definitely looked inept at the way of combat. The brash man's eyes hovered all those who rmeained the least idle, those who hadn't sought out their foes and it was a quick affair when they reached the guise of the one they called Brather. He chuckled to himself as he aligned himself and blazed forward with a fury locked into his gleaming sword. Of course, he thought the girl was the first and most obvious option, she looked no more matured than perhaps fifteen or sixteen judging from the face-- although she was ridicolusly tall for her age, he thought. She would crushed easily, he thought giving no sign to mere underestimation. As their contrasting constituions met within striking distance, Arthur gave a cold grin as he thrusted his blade forward towards her ribs.

Re: Second Ever battle of the Sphere

OoC: hmmm... a bit rude, that character. I'm going to have to make it short... I want to get the feel of things before I try to make it any more complex. I hope you understand... Any complaints are welcome... I'm still getting back into the BA style of things.

BiC: Brather stepped aside as the man ran at her. He missed , but he tried to side-slash her as he ran by. She easily blocked it with her staff.

"Great..." Brather whispered to herself, "I get the ugly brute..."

"What was that you said?" The man said with an utter lack of pleasantness, "I'm gonna cut you down just for that!"

He ran at her with his sword out once more. This time he was a little more precise with his blows. Brather was just able enough to block his second slash before he got a close cut in. She was surprised at his skills with a sword... But she managed to step away from the attack before it hit.

She wondered... what could he do without the sword? With that thought, Brather sent a stream of flame bouncing onto the sword, and swirling the flame around, heating it.

How do yah like burning hands? She thought to herself.

Re: Second Ever battle of the Sphere

OOC- You'll be surprised how wide Nicoli's spectrum of abilities are. I am strategic person, so I'll just see how you respond to this.

BIC- As the signal sounded, Nicoli approached his chosen opponent.

“HEY! You! Blitz!”
The man seemed to be almost surprised by Nicoli’s statement, but he immediately wheeled ‘round to face him.

As Blitz ran toward him, Nicoli said with a small smirk on his face, “It seems that you need to be more alert Blitz. I've heard great things about your speed, but if you can’t even get to your own announcement in time, it’s doubtful that you’ll be agile enough to avoid my blade.”

With that, Nicoli drew his sword, held it in the light that shone upon him, and waited for an attack.

Re: Second Ever battle of the Sphere

OoC: Just as a question, what happens to the character that wins?

BiC:

Chronos walked camly out to the sound of the fight's opening, while the others dived in. He had no intrest with waisting strength by running. No weapon created could harm him.

He suddenly found that he was being restricted in movement, and turned around to see Dang's sword thrusting into his back. "Your sword is too weak," he said simply, for it was already begining to bend against the MetaSkin in his body.

"What are you?" he shouted in amazement.

"The man who cannot feel," Chronos answered simply, letting metal flow from his wrists, careful not to shred his gloves. They formed tendrils, which rapidly wound themselves around Dang's neck. "Now pay a price," he finished, throwing the tendrils, and Dang, against the walls of the colossium. Dang's head was already bleeding, it was difficult for him to stand, but the tendrils retracted into the metal man's body.

"I cannot lose," Chronos said simply, "how do you best a man whom you cannot even hurt?"

Chronos said nothing further, but stood waiting for the next attacker, thinking that Dang had learned a lesson.

How does he do that? Dang thought silently. Why am I so insignificant to him?

Re: Second Ever battle of the Sphere

OoC: Eh, heheh. Considering how everyone has an opponent, I think I'll just steal one.

BiC:

As the other warriors commenced in battle, Axis had been standing in the midst of the fray, unmoving from the same exact spot he had been since entering the arena. He turned to the left, his dull green eyes giving him the look of someone recently dead. Taking several steps toward Dang and his opponent, the android smiled, sliding it's hood off, revealing matted, medium length hair. Axis appeared to be of asian descent. He opened one of his silver hands, and aimed his palm at the two warriors' general direction.

Dang was the first to notice, and when he looked, this distracted Chronos. Dang used this moment to break free of the tendrils, creating small gashes in his skin where the tendrils had secured themselves. Just as Chronos was about to attack in Axis's direction, a pillar of green flame hit him. Instead of just dissapating, it seemed to grow. Chronos jumped to escape his weakness, and when he did, a cold metal fist slammed against his chin with strength equivalent to even his metaskin armor as Axis had leapt to meet him in combat.

Axis suddenly raised another hand, and the forearm of his sleeve ripped open, and his arm, which was indeed silver, rose and expanded in size, a silver mass. There was a slight oozing noise as the liquid metal took a sharp state not unlike a stalagmite. Chronos readied himself to counter whatever the mysterious opponent had in store. The silent machine rushed forward, making not a single noise as he swung the morphed arm at his enemy, who counteracted by dropping to his knees and rising with an uppercut to his jaw. The metal creature didn’t even blink as the unique warrior made contact, gripping Chronos by the side of the throat and tossing him backwards, his eyes glowing green for a small moment as he touched the cheek that the human had hit, feeling a small dent that had already started to heal.

“Strike harder.”

0:03

EDIT: Sorry to confuse you, COTA, I was counting backwards.

OoC: Btw, you don't get upgrades based on victory or defeat. your quality of writing is what is judged.

Re: Second Ever battle of the Sphere

OoC: Ahem... I am currently working on my post, but I thought I should declare this publically just for some hype. I hereby announce that this thread has a themesong! There are no legally downloadable tracks for this song, but a link to a page that has a fair-quality recording should suffice. In addition, you will get to see an amusing Zelda flash cartoon. Just let it load (you have to click the "Play in current window" option first), click play, minimize the screen, and let the creativity flow into your words. Personally, I think the track is very appropriate. "And here we are. We're the Princes of the Universe. Here we belong, fighting for survival. We've come to be the rulers of your world!"

BiC: A bolt of excitement rippled through Blitz’ mind, giving him a sort of high. He simply could not wait to deal the first blow! Putting on an ecstatic grin, he pounded the ground once with his legs and hurtled toward Nicoli at full throttle. What he did not expect however, was for the boy’s raised sword to reflect the sun’s brilliant rays directly into his eyes. He was not certain that the act was intentional, but it would be best not to attack dead-on. After closing half of the gap between himself and the other human, he thrust himself into the air, sailing over Nicoli’s astonished head, mantle trailing gracefully behind him in the air. He landed and whipped around in one seamless motion, thrusting his sword at the opponent. To Blitz’ pleasant surprise, however, the boy thrust his sword over the back of his head, and the Supernova was deflected harmlessly off of the blade. Heh… this is fun!

Nicoli whirled around and dealt a furious horizontal slash in Blitz’ direction, but the Supernova was already waiting in a vertical guard. In the instant that his opponent’s sword became stationary, Blitz took in the sight with interest. The boy’s weapon was a half-foot longer than the Supernova, and Nicoli was four inches taller than himself; though the latter fact was more difficult to discern, considering both combatants were in a slight crouching stance. The untrained eye would say that there was a distinct size disadvantage; however, the Wielder of the Sword would say, “Bring it on.” As a matter of fact, he did.

The younger swordsman replied with an amused grunt and a series of forceful vertical and horizontal slashes, all of which Blitz blocked without effort. “How disappointing,” he said with a grin, still blocking the unrelenting yet predictable barrage from Nicoli. “I was hoping that a swordsman more youthful than myself would prove a worthy opponent. I sincerely hope that you haven’t begun to fight yet.” Blitz could tell that his grin was beginning to grate on Nicoli’s nerves, and he hoped that maintaining it would cause a spark in the younger boy. After all, he had come here for an enjoyable fight.

“Hah!” Blitz shouted, delivering a well-placed thrust at the opponent. Yet again, Nicoli surprised him by twisting himself and guarding with a handy-looking shoulder brace. Sparks emerged as metal grated against metal, but the Wielder of the Sword could tell that the Supernova had left its mark on the metallic surface. Too bad for him those braces aren’t runic, he thought, still filled with that all-pervasive high.

SHING!

Too close! Nicoli had reacted much faster than Blitz had seen him move thus far. Following the guard with his brace, he thrust his elegant sword at the older swordsman with startling speed. Blitz had barely managed to jolt his body to the right in time to avoid the blow. So he was holding back. Good! Seeing this display of skill from the enemy, he decided that he did not need to restrain himself. It was time to go nuts.

Leaping away from the fray, Blitz held one hand out to the side and summoned up a nearby patch of fire element. Without hesitation, Blitz forced all of the energy from his body and into his closed fist, letting it coalesce between his fingers with a warm sensation that calmed him slightly. Flames wreathed from his hand, extending and weaving together until it had lengthened to approximately four and a half feet. Now the flames calmed their dancing and became almost solid.

“I hope you’re faster than you’ve let on, kid,” Blitz taunted gleefully, crossing the blades in front of him with a stylish appeal. “This flaming sword has no weight, and is almost literally an extension of myself. You’ll have to do better than this to defeat me!” With that, the Wielder of the Sword plunged back into the fray with all blades a-swinging.

OoC: Hmm... Not my best (definitely not my longest) post in the BA. Still, it passes the ol' SL inspection.

Re: Second Ever battle of the Sphere

OOC: Definetely not your longest. And although I think Numra should be given another chance before the rotation starts again, I will offer my choice of a themesong, conveniently zipped and attatched. I could find a link as well, but It's tedius as I'm not entirely sure where I got it.

Re: Second Ever battle of the Sphere

OoC: SORRY. For such a long wait. Not being able to go online during the week can prove to be a nuisance. Matter of fact I shouldn't even be on right now. Sorry that I cannot post right now. So you will have to skip me. I'm still in though, just don't expect a post from me until tomorrow. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Track One

Track Two

Track Three

Track Four

Track Five

Track Six

Just my suggestions that are from mostly Final Fantasy tracks. The quality of them aren't the best, but hey, it's what you get for using a 56k friendly format(MIDI). Just check them out if you have time.

Re: Second Ever battle of the Sphere

The surge of a hot pain shot up the mercenary's gloved hands as the mammoth sword clanged to the ground. The hard eyed man grimaced as he began to retreive his heavy weapon, faint specks of gray sizzling into into the sky of the arena, the dying embers smelt of prominently as Brather began to conjure a strange chant. A searing crimson beam blasted through the sky as Arthur dove to the ground in order to evade the move, cursing incoherently as he moved. He ran forward as she began to make spheres of fire from her palms. He darted past one and in a great effort, he heaved his body above the flame and as he ascended, slashed his zweihander at the largely built girl. She raised her staff forward as the attack was imminent and great sharp noise rasped across the area.

Arthur landed on his feet from his jump as the impact sent vibrations into his body, struggling to make his coordination stabler. He leered his eyes forward and saw that the staff hadn't even received a dent on its fibres. He swore loudly as Brather lashed ahead and nearly struck him on the head as he manuevered across the assault.

He swerved his zweihander with the ease of the dagger and stabbed to her side but she managed to roll out of the way in great precision. A shout was uttered and another series of embers blasted cross the sky. A barely audiable yelp escaped the warrior's parched mouth as a burn shot up the side of his temple, more towards his ears. He gingerely caressed the area as he groaned in anger. In a raged frenzy, he swung his sword carelessly in an impulsive dash. Brather was far from taken aback, but lost ground as he contiunied the onslaught.

Finally, he slammed the sword down and he heard a tear and he found that the blade had bitten away at her cloth. He gave another cold smile as he went forward for her flesh next.

Edit: (Yeah, sorry about that. My mindset kind of tells me that should I divide the paragraphs-- they don't feel as long as they should be. But sure, if you're uncomforatble with that.)
