You might be new, you might be old, but you probably have questions. This is where they are answered. If you have a question regarding the Dome as a concept, what goes on here at the Dome, what you can and cannot do here, or anything else (so long as it is related to the Dome), this is the place to ask. The Council and the staff alike have answers and will give them to you, with the obvious stipulation that you have to actually ask them.
Once several questions have been asked, they and the answers to them will be added to this first post as a "Frequently Asked Questions" section so that, if your question has been asked before, you will not have to look for it. Please remember to keep the wording of your questions polite and succinct.
<%lys> what did they change about it?
<%lys> looks like all they did was threw out the school?
<%lys> and then added something called the "common rooms" without any explanation of what that even is supposed to be used for.
<%lys> is that supposed to be like a general discussion area or something?
<%lys> do we really need another general discussion area?
<%lys> well whatever anyway
<%lys> probably isn't going to change anything for me.
<%Avalanchemike> The school is substitued with the peer review.
<%Avalanchemike> The common rooms are the cafeterias, libraries, etc explained in the paragraph before they're mentioned.
<+Flueworks> I think it's a large IC thread.. <%Avalanchemike> They're for roleplaying *inside* the Dome.
<%Avalanchemike> I mean, outside of the battles there. <%Avalanchemike> Basically crossroads in the Dome.
In addition, every thread here in the Common Rooms will have a corresponding thread in the Peer Review section for (shocking!) peer review between participants. The Dome is still supposed to be a learning and improvement center, after all.
The students and teachers may still have dorms, but you have to remember, the Dome has its own will. It could have changed what it wished to occur within its halls, shifted its focus. Characters can still have learning experiences within the Common Rooms IC. Just not with a formal teacher per say.
I'm sorry... :< But maybe a reboot was just what they needed to get you writing them again...
S'kay. The only ones who had any real personality or anything interesting about them - at least to me - were Raven & Rachael. Tera was a complete Mary Sue, Thira had no personality, Lumia didn't have a solid raison d'Ítre, and Aquira is essentially still just a note on the drawing board.
So the purpose of this place is not just to serve as a crossroads in the Dome, but also to give new people a chance to get integrated into the Dome? And, presumably, other members are encouraged to help them in this endeavour?
Probably the person helping the newbie could start off by reviewing that newbie's first post (if the newbie is indeed the thread-maker), but you can both get feedback from each other. You start one whenever you're doing an RP in the Common Rooms. I'll prod Honor to clarify when he's online.
The peer review threads would be started by whichever roleplayer wants to start them. Newb or veteran, peer review still means the same thing. Even someone as good as Ry-san can get good advice, and someone being a new member in the Escapists' Haven does not necessarily mean all their advice is going to be bad. For that reason, anyone can start the peer review thread. All threads in the Common Rooms have to have one, so it doesn't really matter who starts it.
