OoC Thread: Swords Crafted From Ink (Read the Rules)

Here it is. Now behave.

The real purpose of this thread is not to organise battles and such, although that is one of it's most important uses. The real purpose is to offer a safe environment where everyone can get in touch with each other and most importantly, have fun.

The Community Thread serves the following purposes as regards the BA:

1. The discussion of anything BA related such as characters, battles and writing technique
   
2. Writing in general may be discussed as well. Giving helpful hints about writing style and helping others to improve their writing are very welcome
   
3. Immersive situations can also be discussed in this thread wher a member may come up with a situation and ask other members to share their opinions or answers to such a situation

Now, beyond that, the Community Thread also exists for casual chatting and general discussions on any number of topics. Serious discussions are also catered for, as writing often draws from internal reflection. Just remember that this is not the I:SB. The Community Thread may be somewhat lenient, but that doesn't give you the right to abuse it.

The following rules are non-negotiatable and will be adhered to:

1. Posts that contribute nothing to the discussion will be deleted on-sight

2. Flaming will be severely frowned upon and may lead to an infraction

3. Blatant sexual content will be met with an immediate infraction

4. Excessive swearing will be rewarded with an infraction

5. Evading the swear-filter will warrant a post deletion or editing

6. Picture plugging is to be deleted on sight, this is not an image-board. Supply links instead

7. There will be no exceptions or special favours. Those who deserve an infraction will get one, regardless of gender, status, popularity, pwnsomeness or Councilorship

8. Mods are expected to fullfil their duties and you as BA'ers must demand that those duties are fullfilled and that any violation of these rules is immediately reported to them

Overall, this is to be kept family-friendly. Smutty behaviour is not outlawed, of course, but not at the expense of intelligence. We're here to have fun, humour, discuss and socialise. Just don't step out of line.

Can't there be a rule that says only people with characters can post? Since you can't be Out of Character if you don't have a Character.

Hopefully a few certain people won't mess up the OOC thread like they have the last two or three times. I will more than likely not be around here for the majority.

I second this. I really think that there should be a rule like that. Though, if we talk about writing and battles enough outsider would come in and say anything. Great job on the new rules Power Shot.

I will be starting a battle soon, a game of dodgeball, for anyone who wants to join. I will be having two teams of five, and five places are taken already by Southern Belle, Zorolo, Honour, myself and Uhex. PM me with which character you will be using. Five spots left.

I don't really see the point of not letting people without characters post, as long as they do the things within the rules. I mean, I have two characters from long ago, but I don't see what difference they make to this thread.

Yes! It's about time this thing's been fixed. I like the new rules, now I believe that'll keep the spam level down.

Edit: I believe that people who don't have a character are ok to post in here, as long as they're writers themselves or are waiting a character's approval. Also, there might be some newbies who may want to ask questions in here before doing anything. In my opinion I think that would be good.

So, let's kick things off, with a scenario!

A mysterious figure comes to your character late one night, and explains that they have the power to fulfil his or her greatest desire, but in return, they would have to give up whatever is most precious to them.

How would your character react? And if they accepted the deal, what exactly would they be forced to give up?

Well, basically anyone who can view the thread can post, and besides, this is the first place any possible newbies will come to with any questions.

Actually, no. It was *all* Andurhil. I would've helped, but he decided it was a one-man job, so I went and worked on the other thing that failed immediately and without consideration due to a vague protest.

I was for it, because this is an important change, but several of your resident Councilors are very CLINGY AND AFRAID OF CHANGE.

It's been done. Nevertheless, I suppose I'll participate. It's been awhile since I took one of these things seriously.

Blitz (whether he were alive or not) would firmly decline. That which is most precious to him is also his greatest desire; namely, Amy. The same goes for her. As long as the two of them are together, they are content.

Drake's greatest desire is to die. Sound odd? Consider that his sole purpose is to carry out the will of a Master he's never seen, tormented by the memories of the sins of every human--dead or alive--and too withdrawn as a result to feel any connection to humans. And yet, his life cannot end until the Master wills it. I bet you'd want to die, too. No one should have that kind of knowledge. The one thing Drake holds most precious is the forgiveness and companionship of those dearest to him. He would gladly sacrifice that in order to have his life finally ended. But he would do so in private.

Viscen's greatest desire is to be reunited with his family; especially his older sister, Cora. His most prized possession would have to be his service to the Alliance. He simultaneously loves and loathes it. While he loves and cares for the men he leads, Viscen secretly despises what serving the Alliance has done to him. It's all he's ever known, but if he could be with his family again, I bet the ol' dog would be willing to learn a new trick.

Ethan's greatest desire is to be with a fellow immortal. Not necessarily a romantic relationship; just a familiar face from his homeworld. His sister was the last, and she died at the hands of the Crystalline Goddess thousands of years ago. Ethan would give anything to meet one of his kind, even his own life, as he sees little point in it when everything dies around him. The futility is frustrating.

For those who don't know, I believe that's probably me he's referring to. See, I was the main antagonist in his quest to replace the beloved title of this thread with a Star Wars pun. You can all thank me later. =/

Eh, the Council kinda did away with member tournaments awhile ago. Most died in the middle or had too many people to keep track. Though, if you really want to start one, you need to ask a Councilor.

To answer it for myself...

Bella's greatest desire would likely be to have some close relations... to have a family, or old friends that she knows she can always count on. Really, as she's become a wanderer, all she has are people she's happened to meet on the road and travel with for awhile. What she'd have to give up, however, would be her connection to the forests, and her ability to walk through them, live in the, be around them. And that's much too precious for her to give up.

Not to mention she'd never trust the guy anyways. I mean, it's some mysterious dude coming to her in the middle of the night, making slanted deals. Would you trust him?

Edit: Hoji, however, might trust him. He'd want his name cleared in Soul Society, and most importantly, he'd want to know who framed him. He's lost just about everything he had though... so really the only thing he'd have he could give up would be his Zanpakutou. And if he gave that up... then what he wished for would be rather pointless. So, I guess he wouldn't take the deal. x3
