Re: Out of Character Thread 2.0

*sighs in exasperation* Okay, guys. Let me make one thing clear. I want to start seeing SUBSTANTIAL posts from all of you. Filling up a page in a matter of ten minutes is absolutely crazy. I'm getting tired of these one-liner posts. And half of this stuff could be kept to simple PMs. Those two or three PAGES of talk about the ZU Clans shouldn't even exist! When I say this thread is for the sole discussion of matters related to the BA, I mean it. If I don't see an improvement in the quality of these posts in this thread, I'm going to get rid of it completely. And no, I'm not in the least bit joking.

OKAY, moving on....

What is it that first drew you to the BA? For me, it has to be the writers and the abilities that the characters created here. I am still here, because I'm improving in writing.

Re: Out of Character Thread 2.0

It was the sheer pleasure of knowing that one day people would talk about you in PM's and you would be nominated for best battler or best character.

I also love creating characters and using them, the abilty to create anything your heart desires and use it, its like a dream come true!

Plus standing up for your group, knowing that you have power and knowing that people want to be like you, thats why I am still here battling, I want people to wish they could be like me, or could defeat me one day!

I mainly battle now for the BA knights and for popularity!

I was attracted because of the explicite and non-imitatable violence, myself. It's perfect for a death-obsessed guy like me. ^_^

Either that, or the fact that Power Shot goes here... he's my BA idol... in the creepy way.

Re: Out of Character Thread 2.0

ROTFLMBO!!!!!

*pulls self off floor gasping for air*

Okay, okay, I can't let this all go by without answering to it.

1. Power is nothing. All things being equal, a good writer with a weaker character will beat even a stronger one. I actually play Aurora as a weak character most of the time. I rarely powerplay her. It's purely inventive tactic that makes her seem so unbeatable. I don't play her base strength in favor of her finely tuned abilities. Why do you think no one in the BA has ever seen her summon? ;P

2. I'm very curious as to this weakness that a couple of you seem to have found. I, of course, know her true weakness, not that I would tell, but I'm wondering what you've come up with, so why don't you two PM me and let me see if you're on the right track.

3. My favorite BA characters:

-Anything invented by LEA. Hands down. I'm highly offended that she has not been given more attention in this thread. She is a fantastic writer, and her characters have varying degrees of strength. Sileya is closer to Aurora's power level than any character in the BA, and by the end of Dragons' Soul (shameless plug) the elven princess will be all the same as equal to my summoner in sheer power. Not to mention she is the queen of char development. Her writing is just a beauty and joy to read and if you can't see that immediately, you have no soul.

-Domestic Dude. The king of food fights in all their spastic glory. You think I start a good time in a kitchen, look into the archives and see what you come up with. Domestic Dude and Mondo Man had, without a doubt, the FUNNIEST (and punniest) fights I've ever had the sheer joy to read. Comedic characters and purely nonsensical plots are a ray of sunshine in this place that is too often bogged down by all the serious plot and bloodshed.

4. It's a shame about what you all call great battling now. When I came to the BA, they had fights that would make you ALL die of nOObish heartattacks. Most characters were uber or higher, and no one cared, they just got joy out of writing together, regardless of who won, or who was more powerful. We didn't care about upgrades, heck, we didn't see the need in them, really. The only thing worth improving on a char was its story. I still feel that way.

5. Finally, if you feel like you've got what it takes, then bring it. I'll take on anyone who can write without making my eyes burn, or giving me a migraine. >_> I think that thins my competitors FAR more than the general power level of chars around here lately.

You tell 'em, Ry-san! *laughs* To be honest, I've been waiting for a response from you. Seeing everyone's reactions is going to be quite amusing.

And to the rest of you...heed LEA's words above. Should you ignore her warnings, you'll receive a severe tongue-lashing from myself. If the relentless abuse of this thread continues after that, I won't be holding her back. Believe me, that is not an idle threat.

Re: Out of Character Thread 2.0

You know? I can't even remember. I just thught the BA was a cool concept, creating a character and fighting others in a large battle arena. It seemed so cool then, and it still does today.

Re: Out of Character Thread 2.0

Ah! Where'd she come from?! *huff puff*

It's not that I depend on power... I just want the perfect epic battle, that's all. These 'upgrades' are actually ways for me to explore my character more, add to his story, and attempt to become epic. My idols are you Ry-san, and Wielder and a few other people. I apoligize if I've offended any of you, but another thing is that anything I make you could probably say I'm copying off you, but in all honesty a lot of epic things could sound the same, but that's just how I like to battle.

Oh and Tower of Time is over... I feel I did well...

...

What. The. HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL?!

Oh wow. I feel the need to run to the IRC and grab 2 Dope for some major pwnage. *looks around* Oh wait, you all don't know of my capncornflake-like pwnage persona on the main ZU forums, do you? ^^;;

Why has everyone forgotten about LEA and Shade? You all idolize me and WoTS, but... *no offense, WoTS* LEA and Shade write better than both of us, IMO. Tokumaru may be cool with all his fiery magic and stuff, but Max... come on, HE'S A VAMPIRE WITH A SWORD NAMED AFTER THE GREEK ROOT SANGUI, WHICH MEANS BLOOD! And Mariana... HOMG. Love the Angel thing more than anything on earth. She's so cool... @_@

And Bloodsword. Terrin... is... Tokumaru's best friend... ever. Along with Blitz, but Terrin still takes home the cake. He and Tokumaru are like freakin' brothers sometimes! And him being ignored in the BA recently has angered me. *cocks the SaferGun*

Anywho, stop worshiping us. It doesn't make me laugh, or any of this. Power is judged by how well you write, and... *looks at the SWARM OF THOUSANDS OF DOOMED-TO-NEVER-BE-FINISHED NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOBISH battles outside in the BA*

Judging by the quality of those posts, I'd say you better get working if you even want to stand on our doorsteps.

Well ... I've never really posted or looked in here much before. *looks around the place* Anywho, yeah, even Wielder got caught up in the whole power thing. You should have seen him threaten Jaie in my homeroom with Blitz. Personally, I believe Jaie's writing skills could match or even surpass Wielder's. No offense to WoTS, of course. >_< don't hurt me.

Oh, and when I get a chance I wanna battle Ry-san some time ^_^

Oh, no offense taken. In fact, I agree. Shade and LEA are definitely better writers than us. Shade's just plain nuts, that's all there is to it; but that's what makes him such an awesome battler. He comes up with these crazy ideas out of nowhere, like Heiketsuga and Soliere. Heheh...who doesn't love summoning? Innocence is a brilliant example of Shade's "crazy idea" technique, I think. I'm glad he decided to go all out, and really make the best use of Ja'gan. Tying the histories of Ja'gan and Kyros was definitely a good move on my part, because it gave him the incentive he needed to just lose it. ^_^ Ideas like that just come to me from time to time, but not nearly often enough in my opinion. It feels odd say this, but I wish I was as crazy as Shade!

LEA is just...wow. Character development galore, and written in such a fascinating manner. I love LEA's ability to describe things in such a poetic sense that you can't help but be drawn to her technique. I'm really torn between whether to fight Sileya or Mariana first. Since I can't imagine any of my characters wanting to inflict harm on Mariana (except Giathra, naturally), we would have to have a common foe. ...Hold the muffins... By George, I've got it! That's it, LEA! ^_^ She could fight Giathra! Why didn't I think of it before? And since she's...whoops... Heehee, almost let it slip. But you get the idea.

Yes, LEA is definitely a fantastic writer, though I'm not completely certain I would place Shade on her level. Hmm...I'll have to examine their styles more closely to determine just how close they are. But when you think about it, their techniques are so different. Can you really compare them?

My only real strength, I'd have to say, is...hmm... You know what? I don't even know what my strength in writing is. That's odd. I've never really thought about it before... Well, this certainly gives me something to think about. *wanders off in an introspective monologue*

Again, no offense taken. I haven't seen any of Jaie's work, but since you praise him so much, I'm curious. Though, to be honest, I'm not so much to be praised. Saying that he surpasses me isn't all that impressive. I mean, heck, until I get published I'm really just an insignificant writer on an insignificant forum somewhere in the leylines of the ethernet. And my work is so inconsistent that I doubt I could ever publish something at my current level of skill. No, I have a long road still to travel. Either way, I'll be certain to give Jaie's work a look. Heheh...this should be interesting.

Oh, and to all of those who were saying they could defeat Aurora, be on the look-out for a battle soon to come. It will be a two-on-one battle, and I'll be using Blitz. Your other "idol" (seriously, stop that, it's blasphemy) will also be involved. This battle will be going down in legend, I should think, since it will once and for all end the dispute of who is greater. On a side note, I do know how Aurora's power works, and it's so simple that coming up with a weakness is exceedingly difficult. Somehow, though, I'm certain that the weakness itself is incredibly simplistic. I'm going to see if I can unwravel Aurora's secret in this battle, but in the process, I will be getting myself royally owned. All of you, feel free to observe the festivities, because this will be one of the few battles in which Blitz and Tokumaru let everything go. Watching Aurora pin us to the floor is going to be very amusing, especially when Safer and I enter Celestial and Ethereal Inferno forms, respectively.

[EDIT] Heheh...will ya look at that? *glances in the general direction of Dragons' Soul* It looks like Tokumaru-sama will be the first to reunite with his teacher. Kudos, buddy.

Hm, probubly my first battle with Surge because it was probably my first battle that really had teamwork. And it was simply fun having Surge get pissed off by an annoying little girl.

Couldn't start a new thread without getting one last, on-topic post in, and that quote sparked it. I just had to disagree, the urge was unresistable. The real truth is, the BA is moving up. It's going forward and increasing in quality, writing-wise, I mean.

I've looked back, and I have to admit that it is true that we've become somewhat egotistical, but the overall writing quality has improved immensely. It's actually quite surprising. I know that recently, with such a clutter of threads, a lot of them haven't been getting enough care, but the talent of the average writer has improved, or at least the drive of the average writer has.

Disagree with me all you wish; go on and on about the "good ol' days; tell me that I'm believing only what I want to, but I can clearly see that this is true, and I'm proud of this generation of BAers, no matter what the past generations may have been like.

And second, I noticed a whole bunch of posts going around about idols and such. I'm not sure exactly whether we're talking about only BA members, but we're also discussing why we got involved in the BA. So, I feel that it's only fair that I state my idol.

T'was Mirren. He was a BA member once, and he's an amazing writer. In my opinion, he's probably the most talented writer on this site. His writing was also what made me want to write, and then GC's training was what made it so fun.

So, I paid my respects, or whatever it's called, and now...

We're going to make a new OoC thread. All discussion can be continued, as if nothing ever happened.

*Updates*
