Vandals with Class discussion

So, since a discussion thread would be much easier to plan things out instead of PM/VM considering there is three of us, here it is.

Now, Vandals with Class is about Natasha returning to Altamire with a dragon called Pyre to wreak havoc to make sure that people aren't going to kill her younger sister Angelica over the new twin bill. (Twins are killed upon birth in Altamire.)

Elsie and Mariam in some shape and form join her in her party and her cause.

So, yup. Let's figure out everything before we go into this and use this for discussion.

I just got Miriam approved. It may take about a day to read the whole previous RP because I'm doing a lot of stuff tomorrow. I'll also take a look at the your guys' characters.

I can see how Miriam would be able to sympathize with the cause. She is very fond of the defensless, and she had witnessed her children killed in her past. I'm sure she would enjoy preventing that in the future.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. It's a bit of a tangled mess, especially concerning Natasha.

Well, here's what happened (or is going to happen, we're not completely done but very close):

Rak and Natasha get dragon egg. Travel together. Fight off assassin group. Reach volcano, Natasha chucks egg in while Rak kills old enemy. Natasha gets the dragon, Rak becomes a marked man by the assassins.

that's the TL: DR version.

In this RP, Elise will be joining after a brief rescue from getting in over her head, for compatibility and a feeling of debt to Natasha (already kinda talked about this). That could be anywhere from the second post to the second page, depending on where we start and how Westerly thinks Miriam would best fit in. Since this is primarily Natasha's story, Luna will be starting us off, right?

Yup! That's right

Ok then, all we need to do now is finish Hatchling (shouldn't be long at all now, I just made the final duel scene) and figure out Miriam's join details.

By the way, I never asked, what are we actually doing if Pyre's the one burning up towns/farms?

I'm on page four of hatchling. I should be done by early tomorrow if not today. I'm beggining to have a better understanding of the story. Once I finish and get a better idea of what you plan to do with this roleplay I can think of a better way to join the roleplay. I don't want to hold you guys up to much, so if you think I'm taking too long to get organized don't be afraid to tell me.

I would also like to commend you guys for writing such and interesting story. It reminds me of the days when I read eragon, only its a whole new story.

Also, I was thinking that perhaps Elmir and certain high class members of Altamire (not the Council of Elders) or low class members have a secret black market slave trade for twins going on. Since twins are killed at birth, nobody knows that they are missing. Those who are born with magic (like Natasha and her sister Elaine) are worth more because Altamire magic users are more powerful then they are in Elmir.

If the twin bill gets passed, Elmir looses its source of (black market) slave labor, so while on the front they are trying to quell the rebellions, they are also having members helping with the assassination movement of Angelica.

While in Elmir, the group will learn of this, so while Pyre is causing havoc in Altamire distracting people from "hey there is this twin bill that is trying to destroy the way we have done things since forever" to "HOLY ♥♥♥♥ THERE IS A ♥♥♥♥ING DRAGON ATTACKING US."

So, not only are we stopping assassination attempts, distracting people from a bill being passed with a dragon, we are also stopping a slave trade ring.

That sounds really cool, Luna. It still has sweet assassin fights, but in addition we take on a unique group. Stopping a black market slave trade is anything but cliche. Awesome!

And wow, I never expected someone to say my writing was as good as a bestselling novel's. I really appreciate that comment.

What do you guys think would be better or more likely for the slave trade on Altamire's end? The high class society or the shady dealers? While I can see both, but I'm not sure which would make for a more interesting story. (Well obviously the black market will be the one shipping the twins, but should we include the upper class of society for a double whammy?)

I think that to be realistic, both would be involved. The higher classes will be scared by the destruction of their property by a dragon, dissatisfied with Angelica's rule, and probably angling for good positions when the Elmirans take over or the army starts a civil war. I don't think they'd bother with assassins, but would be more interested in war, where they have the biggest chance to gain a better position in court. The black market will be sending assassins though, for sure. They'd also be more like the mafia, organized crime that reacts poorly when its livelihood is threatened. So they perhaps would even strike against citizens to stir unrest at the provoking law.

Well of course a lot of parts of society will be involved; I'm talking about who should be involved with the crime ring of the selling of twins. Also, the Elmirians would only take over after a civil war. It would be more likely that the Elmirians would prefer a puppet ruler of Altamire. This way people will have "one of their own" as the leader even though Elmir is the one pulling all the strings.

Also, they won't need to provoke citizens to cause unrest. The only ones who are on the side of the law is those families who have been affected by the death of twins or selling of the twins on the black market. So, while they aren't the majority they are a large enough part of the population to cause enough of a ruckus.

Pyre is there to get people's attention off of the issue of the twins. I mean what are you going to prioritize? A dragon attacking you or some bill that hasn't been passed yet?

Also, Angelica is somehow have to be informed of the plan (either her or Jack who will help influence Angelica) and once she defeats this dragon nobody is going to question her rule, even if they do remember the bill.

Also, Rak what do you think about making Pyre Angelica's "familiar." (Kind of like Pyre works for Angelica--lot less chance somebody is going to ♥♥♥♥ with a 12 year old girl who controls a dragon.)

If you do make him her bodyguard or familiar, I'd suggest making Pyre an actual side character like you did for Angie. You're right, it would absolutely solidify her as both a legitimate ruler and one you don't mess with.

But Pyre only agreed to help Natasha for freeing him. Whether he stays or not is completely at his own discretion. If I was a dragon freshly hatched after circa 700 yrs, I'd pay my debts and travel the world for an epoch. Dragons don't take to being lapdogs either.

Jack influencing her will make for a better story imo. That way, Angelica is not aware of the background of the events around her, and grows stronger as a ruler herself. i.e., she doesn't realize Pyre isn't going to fry her on the spot, or that her sister is tirelessly working to undermine her enemies' plots.

Well, Angelica is adorable and cute and very interesting. We could use the plot hole of ADORABLE. Plus, I kind of wanted to make the final chapter of Natasha's story (when Angelica is killed by a twin which she helped save and everything goes to hell) kind of revealing that not only was Pyre not truly Angelica's "familiar," but Natasha's. (Of course this is how the people of Altamire will see it and is just a ploy to up her epic hero status. I can, however, scrap that idea if you do not like it because you have full say in how Pyre is used as well. Also, I think it would be kind of awesome if Rak is part of the final revolution with Natasha. Just a thought.)

What could work as well is that Pyre travels the world and ♥♥♥♥, but will occasionally stop at Altamire because he gets fed and ♥♥♥♥ but people think Angelica can contact him and get him to come back at any time, so its kind of the "big brother" thing.

And yeah, good point with Jack. I should probably make a NPC profile for him as well. (Although, he is going to be killed when Angelica is. Or would it be better to keep him alive. Decisions decisions.)

Wait wut. Angelica dies. I did not know of this. O.O

If Natasha manages to find Rak wandering the world, she can hire him to help her. He is a mercenary after all, and one with loose morals when it comes to who he kills. I don't think he gives a rip about Altamire though. He wouldn't come of his own accord. Revolutions wouldn't interest him, save maybe in the case of a slave revolt.

Honestly, I don't really mind what you do with Pyre, I'm just thinking in context, a dragon is a free spirit, they normally do whatever they want to do.

Not in this RP, no. But for Natasha's story to end, she is going have to die because as long as she is alive, the hero of Altamire will be Angelica (who doesn't know the only reason she is so is because of Natasha.)

Well, I think it would be cool if they maybe ran into each other again after Angelica is killed and Natasha is going back to Altamire to kick some ass and take some names. Natasha flippin ♥♥♥♥ sane is much more terrifying then Natasha flipping ♥♥♥♥ berserk.

Let's discuss future RP matters in VMs or PMs, poor Westerly has a ton of stuff to read when he gets back in, haha.

So do what you feel would be good for the RP with Pyre. I don't plan to use him, like, ever.

So if Elise is rescued from the previously discussed predicament, how shall we incorporate Miriam? I can think of a few ways, but I'd like to hear others' opinions first.

Alrighty, I have finished reading hatchling, or at least what has been written so far. I now have a good idea of what is happening going into this next roleplay. I am interested in seeing what happens with Rad considering he isn't a main character in this next roleplay.

Considering Elise is a strong believer in wearing ladylike clothes, dresses and such, and Natasha chooses not to. Perhaps Elise could make a critical comment and the two would start arguing. Miriam could be travelling nearby and overhear them fighting. Miriam could settle the fight and in some shape or form, join their little group.

That is just an idea I had. I'm not in any way particular on how Miriam joins, so I am happy to hear your guys' opinions.

Well, Natasha hides her identity as a female for safety measures. As such, if anything Elsie would make snide comments on her clothing while Natasha just kind of tries to ignore it without trying to flip ♥♥♥♥.
