IC Thread I: An irrelevant title!

Kristina: Greetings, everyone. My name is Kristina, but you can all call me Kris. I will be one of you moderators for these proceedings and I shall reign in any shenanigans as I would if you were in my class. As such, please adhere to the rules and give everyone the same respect you would require in turn.

Yet here I am, communicating through hollow tubes in the ground like a warlock. Amazing. Truly I sayeth. Though I must ask, what is the meaning of this symbole "xD". I art confused. It is clearly not a word, lacking in a vowel, but seems to change the interpertation of the entire sentence. Someone must explain.

Habit: To be honest, Sir Byronitus Begara, I'm not entirely sure what "xD" means. I think it represents a laughing face or something. I personally haven't asked anyone.

Habit: I'd sure like to see, Phantasmo. I'm a big fan of magic, actually. I've made a career of collecting various powers and tricks over the years. If you have a rather interesting or unique power, you should check out my store some time. Took me a while to understand it too. "xD" is an expression commonly used to signify laughter or amusement, as apparently the configuartion of letters is to look like closed eyes and an open mouth if on tilts their head in such a way as to make the capital 'D' the mouth.

Also, if I were you, I would update your grammar and linguistics as speaking in such a manner is archaic. Of course, if thou wishes to keep speaking as such, then that lies solely in thine domain. ;P

(The above expression signifies a wink and tongue being stuck out in a playful manner, representing jocularity.)

Kira: Hello everyone! I'm Kira Greenthorne, just another mod to help govern this lovely thread. Glad to see everyone is having fun and such n.n keep it up.

Tree Shade: *needlessly elegant bow* Welcome, fellow mods Kris and Kira! I feel a little left out that my name isn't as short and sweet and similar, but I think I'll manage! :} I haven't actually talked to either of you before, but I'm sure we'll get along just fine.

Kira: I agree ^^ I'm sure we'll get along. Just adjusting to this internet thing, but you pick it up pretty quick. I mean, when you travel to all sorts of worlds through the Dome, you kinda just learn to take the weird and unusual in stride. I kind of forget what's actually "weird" anymore xD

Anyways, I'm trying to get my friend Leita to try this. She was hesitant because she's never done this before, but I told her Edward would probably be online as he comes from a world that knows this kind of stuff. So I think I can get her to try it now.

Ed Stone: Yeah, I'm here. Just lurking about, mostly. Nothing particularly interesting has been said so far.

Leita: Oh, hi, Edward-kun.

I don't really know what to say. I've never done this before. What do all these symbols mean? "xD" and "^^". Kira seems to know them already.

Ed Stone: Hello Leita! Good to hear from you. Most of those symbols just represent small faces to represent various emotions.

"^^" is like two closed, smiling eyes.

"xD" has already been mentioned, but it's a sideways face closing its eyes and smiling.

I personally don't use them much, though.

Leita: Okay, I think I understand. Still, I'm not sure what we're supposed to do now. What are we supposed to talk about here?

Ed Stone: Anything that you'd normally talk about in a public setting, really.

How have you been, Leita?

Leita: Oh, I'm good. How are you? Do you do this often?

Ed Stone: I'm doing about the same as usual. Somewhere between good and bad.

As for chatting in these kinds of places, I don't usually do this. I read through them from time to time, but I've never been a big fan of reading.

Leita: Oh, I see. But you're so smart, I kind of thought you read a lot or something.

Ed Stone: I mostly just don't like reading fiction. It plays out too fast for me. I can read a book that takes place over the course of a few years in under a minute. I'd much rather watch a play or a movie. They play out closer to how it does in real time, thus I feel more invested.
