Just curious why you would need old characters to create a magic system for everyone to use with their new or current characters. |

That said, I've recently begun the planning stages of a character who may fit better in your plans than as a proper BA character, so even if I don't retire the sisters, I'm still curious as to what your plan is. |
I’m transforming retired characters into these things called remnants. A remnant is like the echo of a ghost that has disappeared beyond death. It’s also a few other things, but it’s difficult to explain in only a few words. If you think of Lovecraftian eldritch horrors existing primarily outside of reality, then a remnant is outside the place that an eldritch horror’s soul goes when
it dies. They’re very, very displaced from the concept of existence, but their echoes can be felt by anyone with the right knowledge. Echoes of their nonbeing persist in reality regardless of their condition.
Each remnant has a few things in common. Anyone who knows one’s name, its seal and any special requirement one might have, can summon an apparition of its essence, make a deal with that being, and join that remnant to their own soul. (Although, some of the more powerful ones can only be bound by more experienced joiners.) Only creatures with mortal souls can do this. Since time has no meaning to a remnant, it’s also perfectly possible for a remnant to be joined to several different people simultaneously.
Once bound, a remnant confers a small number of powers onto its joiner. Usually two, three or four such powers, although I suppose one might have more or less.

I believe I do remember Hayden, even if only vaguely. From what I do remember, I think she would make a fine remnant.

But they'd have to know how to summon them through the rune spells. From what I gather it's not difficult to learn but it would be interesting to reuse so many of other's retired characters. |
Yes, the most important thing about joining magic is that it’s stupid easy. Literally anyone who can speak one’s name and supply its seal can summon and join a remnant. And yes, one of the great things about this kind of magic is that we would all get to re-use those old characters.
