OoC Thread XXII: Y'know... Quark is a pretty cool guy, when you think about it

*Introduction*

YO! Wassup, my fellow writers and awesome people? This here be the OoC thread. It's where we hang out and talk about RP related things (as well as a bunch of random junk but more on that later).

This OoC thread serves the following purposes here in the marvelous BA:

1. The discussion of anything BA related such as characters, battles and writing technique

2. Writing in general may be discussed as well. Giving helpful hints about writing style and helping others to improve their writing are very welcome

3. Immersive situations can also be discussed in this thread where a member may come up with a situation and ask other members to share their opinions or answers to such a situation.

4. Small, fast-moving discussions are best left in a chatroom. Like the BA's Chatroom, for instance. You can find it here. Just type: "/join #zubac".


Now, beyond that, the OoC Thread also exists for casual chatting and general discussions on any number of topics. Serious discussions are allowed as writing often draws from internal reflection, but just don't let it go too far. Just remember that this is not the Serious Discussion board. The OoC Thread may be somewhat lenient, but it'd be smart not to abuse it. :3

------Ye Rules------


The following rules are non-negotiable so... obey em.

1. Posts that contribute nothing to the discussion will be deleted on-sight.

2. Posting without an approved player is not allowed is perfectly fine now!

3. Flaming will be severely frowned upon and may lead to an infraction.

4. Blatant smexual content will be met with an immediate infraction.

5. Excessive swearing will be rewarded with an infraction.

6. Evading the swear-filter will warrant a post deletion or editing.

7. Picture plugging is to be kept to a minimum, this is not an image-board. Supply links instead. In general, keep them smaller than 200KB. Use them only sparingly when they really are needed for what you are saying and a link will not suffice. The images must follow the rules for signatures and avatars, meaning that no vulgar or inappropriate content in them will be allowed. Keep it to about one or two images a page for the sake of those with slower connections.

8. There will be no exceptions or special favors. Those who deserve an infraction will get one, regardless of gender, status, popularity, pwnsomeness or Councilorship.

9. Mods are expected to fulfill their duties and you as BAers must demand that those duties are fulfilled and that any violation of these rules is immediately reported to them.

Overall, this is to be kept family-friendly. Jerkiness, while not strictly outlawed, is loosely outlawed. Don't be a jerk and we'll all get long fine. :} We're here to have fun, humor, discuss and socialize. So... have fun!

So here's a crazy idea. Introducing:

Stryder's Big RPs!!

Zombies!

Space Pirates!

Superheroes!

And more!

Tired of making those big old profiles? Looking for something new and fresh!? Maybe you just want something different to the norm! Well look no further! Why not try out the all new Big RPs?! These are roleplays which typically involve several people at once, and can range from space pirates to ninjas to superheroes and more!!

But Stryder, none of my characters fit those roles! D:

That's fine! One of the main aspects of this whole deal is that you make fresh new characters, just for this role!!

What!? A whole new character!? But I don't want to have to put in the effort of making a new profile!

Ah ha, well that's why this is perfect for you! This idea uses mini-profiles which are a lot shorter than the regular profiles, and are a lot easier to make too!! (And a lot more fun! ^-^) Plus, becasuse they'll be made exclusively for these RPs, they can be a lot more flexible and easier to approve, and afterwards you don't even have to use them again!!

Hmm, I don't know...is that even allowed?

Normally, it wouldn't be, but for this it is! The profiles will be made especially for these RPs and will approved by me (or another Councillor involved with the BRPs) so they'll be just fine. They only need a tag in the thread title to mark these characters out from the regular profiles and hey presto, I'll be there!

Group RPs sound like a lot of work...

But these Group RPs are different! They're a lot more fluid, a lot more relaxed, and you can post whenever you want. We can even allow permissions to other writers so things won't get stuck in one spot. And because they use mini-characters, they're easy to come up with and fast to make! They'll also be helped along, so they should never grow stale.

How many people are allowed to join?

That depends entirely on how many people want in! There's no real limits or requirements, so it's all pretty easy going.

So how are the plots made?

There'll usually be a discussion thread depending on how many people are interested, so we can come up and decide as a group on what plot to go with.

I might be interested...how do I sign up?

There will be a sign up thread along with the discussion thread (they may even be the same thread) posted in the Village, and plenty of notice in the OoC thread beforehand, so we can all get involved and have our say. I'd also like to get some idea of whether or not anyone is interested in getting involved with these in here.

So if you think you might be interested, let me know here and I'll get some discussion going on what we can do! Remember, the main focus on these to bring good old fun back into RPing, and I think that these BRPs can do that. Let me know what you think!

I happen to like RPs that use one-off characters, but groups are unwieldy.

(And I still really do want to use a couple of my "proper" characters in RP(s) some time soon.)

DOO EET! Start with the first episode with Christopher Eccleston and work your way up from there. When you're all caught up, you can go back and watch the old ones (I recommend Tom Baker). ^_^
