In The Beginning -- An RPG Intro
Hyrule. A land that had been torn by wars of old and had been brought together under one banner by a king that had been praised for his kindness, ability to rule, and had united the land far and wide. Allies had come to him through knights, messengers, and suitors for his young daughter, Princess Zelda, allies just as strong as Hyrule had started to become. Alliances forged with the lands that bordered Hyrule the closest and the more further kingdoms had similar treaties signed.
Peace came to the land and it prospered for several years. Lon Lon Ranch rose up in the middle of Hyrule Field, the Hylia was at it's highest peak in centuries, the Forest and Domain were overflowing with life, and the Mountain of Death hadn't had a major eruption since the end of the wars. Life started to go back to the way it was, before everything had been torn up by war. Everything seemed to be going well, until the first signs of darkness came from the Desert.
Ganondorf, leader of the Gerudo Clan that dwelled in the Valley across the Field, had come to the king of Hyrule for his own treaty. Although the Valley was geolocigally part of Hyrule, it had never been considered part of the kingdom. Naturally, the king was skeptical of any Gerudo that came within his own boundries but heard him out. That was the beginning of the end, as the days grew darker and the wind started to pick up. All could sense the presence of evil as it lurked in the shadows and the army of the Gerudo was waiting. They could sense it in the air they breathed, slowly tainting with a foul taste.
Things were going to change.
And the change did come, once Ganondorf attacked and took over the land with such force that no one had time to recact. Calling upon the Triforce of Power, he begun his reign with an iron fist and drove out all that opposed him or killed them on sight. How he managed to get a piece of the fabled Triforce, no one knew save the one that is sealed within the Sacred Realm, the Princess-Heir to the throne, and the ever watching Sheikah Impa. No one could challenge Ganondorf at such an early stage, not even those that were beginning to form a rebellion against him.
That's the end of how things got started and the beginning of our story, of the Knights of Goddesses, of how we came upon the Arrows of Water. Shall I tell the tale of how and why I am here?
The Knights of the Goddesses were, in a sense, the protectors of Hyrule's weakest. There weren't many to begin with, since the start of Ganondorf's rule three and a half years before. Many had died, fighting against his minions or the diseases that were spread by corpses. But they did uphold the same laws that the previous king of Hyrule had set down before his murder, or at least they tried to. There were some that didn't see the same light as the Knights did, feeling they were doing a worse job then Ganondorf was doing. That was a matter of opinion for those that combated the minions of Ganondorf then to be ruled by those that kept the peace, such as it were.
The Knights, a band of renegades, had come together soon after the first wave of Ganondorf's forces were brought down upon Hyrule, not long before he took control of the land. It hadn't been a thought at the time to join together to form any resistance until after Ganondorf had secured his place on the throne. The order united as one soon afterwards, moving about the land to help those in need, all the while keeping their mission a secret. They found ways around Ganondorf, despite setbacks and other variants, helping where they could, and forming a true regime.
The order created a base within Kokiri Forest, a temporary shelter from which they could house their operations until a more secure place could be established. The safeguard was never found while the Knights were there, during the three years they had managed to elude any dark forces out to destroy anything that had even the smallest hint of defiance to the King of Evil. Perhaps that was why the Knights became too arrogant in their thinking, believing that they couldn't be touched by Ganondorf, when so many others had succumbed and failed.
They were wrong.
The Knights were decimated by the King of Evil himself, and their base destroyed, leaving naught but a handful of rookies and a few more experienced Knights alone in the world. The Knights were killed off, the ending Ganondorf had wanted in the first place. It was his life’s work that the downfall of anything good would come out of his terrible rule. And that was what the Knights wanted him to think, that he stamped out the last bit of rebellion in the people of Hyrule. After all, he had gotten quite cozy on the throne and was not about to give it up quite yet.
However, outside his knowledge, a vital Artifact had been handed from one Knight to another was about to embark on a journey that would become the King of Evil’s downfall. This Artifact, stolen from right underneath Ganondorf's nose, with him being none the wiser, was passed on, one of several. These Artifacts had been discovered to be a source of power for the Gerudo and became sought after by the Knights, something that he had foreseen when the first several attempts to steal these Artifacts had gone wrong. These foiled attempts were the downfall of the Knights, Ganondorf using the attacks as a way to plant spies within the Knight's network, something that the Knights handed back to them on a silver platter. They had their own spies within Ganondorf's own network, which had allowed them to find information regarding the Artifacts.
The same Artifact that was stolen from Ganondorf now rests in the hands of the highest ranking Knight that is still alive. One piece of the puzzle in his hands, and so many others to find.
The last stand is coming. The Hero must rise.
