Revolutionaries (English)

Characters

Solsetur:

Name: Teir Claen

Gender: Male

Age: 26

Appearance: Long black hair and the grey eyes of a magic-wielder. Very fit, with a decent amount of muscle, and has scars marring his body in multiple places. Wears black leather armor and wields a black sword.

Magic Abilities: Has been training for years, and has gained the ability to transmute weapons from the ground and make his current weapons stronger. Has recently gained the ability to make things using the earth as a conduit.

Strengths: Quick, a good fighter, and an excellent strategist.

Weakness: When injured will try to run away from the fight. While he will fight like a rabid dog when no escape is necessary, he can't sustain a large amount of blood-loss due to a heart condition he has. He rarely ever makes the first move, and requires another to instigate a fight.

Personality: Has a forceful personality, often imposing himself upon others. He rarely takes no for answer, and argues with many people. He's a natural born leader and fighter, and never backs down from a challenge. He'll often fight to the bitter end just to prove a point, and any one who defies him openly will quickly fall subject to his wrath.

History: His parents sent him away to a special magic school when he was young. They were repulsed by the idea of having a magic wielder in their family, and they disowned him as soon as they felt he could live without parents.

Abandoned, Teir rebelled against his tutors and quickly gained the name of 'rebel' among his classmates. He trained for years at this school before his teachers got tired of him and sent him into the military. Teir began as a lowly footmen at the front line of battle. He fought hard, and was usually the last one on the battlefield who could say they were in the first company of soldiers to attack.

He gained a good reputation among his superior officers and rose quickly, eventually becoming close to the king of the powerful nation of Schwarm, where he'd been raised previously. His relations with the king grew better and better as time passed, and he was soon promoted to the rank of general.

Teir, with his new rank, strutted around the city in uniform and often made a fool of what he called "lesser people". He eventually met a girl who made him realize his mistakes, and after becoming close to her she was killed in an uprising led by the people.

Torn, Teir devoted his time to the military and rose among the generals in the city. He eventually became the head of their group, and controlled 10,000 soldiers within the city. He was determined to stop another uprising from happening again, and he was ready to do anything to put them down.

character inspired by Tavros

English:

Name: Elaine Shadowseer

Gender: Male

Age: 20

Appearance: He has very short black hair, and flaming red eyes. He is at the height of his testosterone, and wears armor so large, he can only fit in his special armor. He has no complexions, except for a large scar that runs an inch above his left eye's pupil to the middle of his lower lip. His armor was forged by his father, and is made of the strongest material which isn't sold in any store.

Magic Abilities: Elaine has self taught his magic since he was 18. He is only capable of shooting fire from his hands like a flamethrower. He has also been learning simple blocking spells, but most attempts end in explosions.

Strengths: Elaine is strong enough to kill a bear with his bear hands, but always takes the opportunity to think through his actions.

Weakness: Elaine's blocking spells don't always work, and sometimes explode in his face. He doesn't like to accept help from others, unless he needs it.

Personality: He never backs down from any challenge, especially if it involved physical strength. He isn't very persuasive, but can easily gain the trust of others. Elaine gets easily angered, but is just as forgiving. He likes to take orders, and he follows them as best as he can. He likes to give orders more than he likes to receive them.

History: Elaine lived in the forest in his father since he was born. His mother left his father two weeks after Elaine was born. His father used to be in the army, but quit for political purposes that Elaine was too young to understand. He was trained in the way of the sword by his father until one day, when Elaine's father was found at his doorstep, head seperated from the body and a sword wound to the heart. Elaine spent an entire day preparing the hole and the flames for the funeral pyre.

Although the death of his father was devestating, he continued to live in his cabin by himself. He continued to train himself, using his father's dummies, as well as by hunting down the fauna of the forest. He retrieved some of his father's objects that he had kept, such as the sword, shield, and armor that he currently uses.

When Elaine was 18, he started traveling into the city frequently. He got a job as a woodcutter but shortly turned it down. After losing that job, he stopped a murderer who had recently killed a soldier, and got paid handsomley for the capture. Since then he worked as a bounty hunter, capturing thieves and murderers for the reward money.

When he was 20, he caught a girl named Servine Foxhunter who a bounty of unexplained reason. When he questioned her, she said that she found out secrets that the military wanted to eliminate. She knew that the military sent assassins to kill certain former-soldiers who knew of an unknown plot, and that those killed were the only ones who knew of the plot. Realizing that his father may have been part of this organization, which would explain the unknown death of his father, Elaine promised to let Servine go in exchange for her help on figuring out the plot and releasing it to the public. He was going to avenge his long-dead father, finishing what he had started...

"How much longer until our plans are completed?" Teir was getting impatient with this; he'd rather head outside and put down the damn rebels that were getting in his way. He didn't have time for this 'infiltrate' nonsense. If there was a corner of the city that was giving problems, put it to the torch. That was the quickest way to get those dogs to lay down and beg for forgiveness.

"Two weeks, sir."

"Two weeks? That is unacceptable. Make it three days."

"Th-three days? Th-that's impossible. We don't have a-a-all of our men in p-place."

"Stop stuttering like a fool and get to work. If you don't have all of your men in place then GET them in place. Do you understand me?"

"Yes sir, I understand..."

"Good. Then get out of here." The man turned and ran from the room, and Teir caught a glimpse of sweat running down the man's neck. He'd made him nervous; and he should be. They didn't have time to wait around while the rebels took block after block of the city.

"Tanya?" A small image of a woman popped up from the metal device on his desk.

"What is it, Teir?"

"Send in Lein. We need to set up some sort of defense before the rebels are knocking down our doors."

"Right away, sir."

Teir leaned back in his chair, looking up at the ceiling. A small light swung back and forth as the fan above it revolved quickly. I'm surrounded by idiots... A knock broke his thoughts, and a tall man walked into the room. Teir saw two guards position themselves at the door as the man walked forward and sat down in the chair before his desk.

"Ah, Lein. It's about time you got here."

"Heh. I was held up at the harbor. Bunch of rioters trying to capture a ship. We put them down quickly, though, and got here as quickly as possible. Lost five men to those bastards." Lein spat and looked up at Teir, blonde hair falling behind him and gloved hand grabbing the sides of his chair. "What did you need me for?"

"I need you to take two-hundred men and set up a perimeter around the rebels piece of the city. We have no authorization to engage them, so tell your men to fight only if it's necessary. Under no circumstances do I want them gaining any more ground. Got it?"

"Yes, sir. How are the negotiations going?"

"Horribly. Council doesn't want to acknowledge that this open rebellion, king doesn't want to spend money on any more war, and people everywhere are either dying or protesting. Add in the people who are calling for everyone to be hung and we have absolute chaos - as usual."

"Tch. Bunch of idiots if you ask me. They spend more time trying to gain power than trying to protect the power they've already got. At this rate, they're the ones who are gonna be hanging. And we'll be right beside 'em, too." Lein stood and nodded at Teir, signalling that he was going to leave now. He gave a salute and turned, walking towards the door.

"Oh, one more thing, Teir."

"Yeah?"

"I think these are the same guys who killed Chloe." Teir looked down at the desk and clenched his hands. He thought he'd done away with those bastards years ago. He thought... "Teir? You alright?

"Huh? Oh. I'm fine. You have my leave, Lein."

I... I thought they were gone. And now they're back... Now they're back...

Re: Revolutionaries (English)

Elaine looks down at his map that he pick pocketed from an officer in the city. In the early stages of his plan, he marked all of the areas that he had in "control", and which were still with the army. He smiled as he looked at the map, because roughly half of it was in his control. Not many of them were big areas, they were all small and easy to control. This was part of his plan, though. To control a lot of small areas that made a big difference.

He had been waiting for Servine to come back, god bless her soul. Unless she was dead, she should've been back by now. Elaine slams his fist on the table in frustration, which accidentally sets the corner of the table ablaze. Damn, just what I needed. I need to get more magic practice in for myself soon... He first pulls the map away from the fire, then douses it with a cup of water that he had been drinking. Almost as if by cue, Servine walks into the room.

"Excellent timing," Elaine says. "What's the news?"

"We weren't able to capture the ship, and all of our people died while only getting five of theirs."

"Although I do feel that the loss of our seven comrades is saddening, this is how it works. Although we didn't get what we wanted, we did weaken them, though not by much... Besides, it is only one ship. Now, if we were going after a battleship, or the entire dock, THEN it would be a problem. But there would be more of our men out there anyway."

Servine gives Elaine a look that shows that shows that she disapproves of something that he said, but regards everything else that he said.

Elaine sighs and continues "In any case, I will send the family members of the deceased a letter and the money for their service. Although if we're going to keep doing this, we'll need to control more areas of the city and get some more money on our side."

Servine asks him "So what do you plan on doing next?"

Elaine sits in his chair and gives a few minutes of thought into looking at the map and figuring out what to do next. Finally, he says "Where we'll need money, we take the obvious course of action: we take control of the bank. This is one of the largest sources of income in the city, and is positioned just right for an either sudden and/or large ambush. Servine, I request that you take some of our strongest and stealthiest rebels that we have; anyone who doesn't fit the bill will only impede the assault. And of course, I will be part of this operation."

Servine nods in agreement. "I will go get some, and be back between a few hours from now or a couple of days." When she leaves the cabin, Elaine walks outside. I have to get more of this fire stuff in; it's really annoying sometimes. It also probably won't hurt to try working on some of my blocking spells.

Later, there is an explosion in the forest.

Re: Revolutionaries (English)

"I'm heading out." Teir opened the metal door leading into the building and stepped out, letting it close behind him. The street before him was full of people moving about; either to work or back home. The sound of cars zooming by overhead was heard, and the bustle of the city buzzed all around him.

He stepped into the street and guards came up behind him - thirty. The cleared a path as he walked, and kept people from attacking him. A few from the crowd yelled curses at him, and others praised him for keeping the city safe. It seemed his presence in and of itself could spark riots; several people had to be pulled away from his guards. He walked on, ignoring the crowd, and kept his mind focused on one thing: The bank.

He needed to withdraw fund for military spending, since the blockade would cost some money to set up. Rather than go out of his way to the safer bank across the city, he'd chosen to head to one near the frontlines themselves... which turned out to be a bad idea. While it was more convenient to walk here, tensions were also the highest here. It took all of his willpower to stop himself from ordering his guards to kill every last one of them.

These... bugs. They scramble around for money and power, but all they do in the end is annoy me. It's sickening. He opened the doors to the bank and set up two men at the doors, five at the steps, and then the rest set up elsewhere. He looked around the room and sighed; the line was huge.

Looks like I'll be here for a while.

Re: Revolutionaries (English)

At 9:43 PM, Servine walks into the room where Elaine has an ice pack on his head and left knee. "Maybe I should try some healing magic... It'll be the same category as my blocking spells, right? Actually, no. It too will probably explode for all I know." He lets out a weak chuckle before he notices that Servine is in the room as well.

She rolls her eyes and then says "I have prepared one hundred citizens that I have gathered. They are all waiting outside for your command."

"Okay, give me a second to think through the plan." Elaine ditches the ice packs - it was probably already enough - and picks up the map. He zooms in with the map and examines the bank. Strange, there are some guards posted around the building. This wasn't expected seeing as how this is a privately owned bank. He takes a closer look with the map: he could see twenty guards, seven at the front entrance, five at the back entrance, and eight on the roof. I'll have to assume that there are a minimum of twenty, but there's a possibility of more. But as long as there's between 20-30 guards, we will make it through this. After all, an attacking team must have a 3 to 1 numerical advantage to be guaranteed victory. After looking over the data, Elaine walks outside.

There are a lot of people outside of various shapes, sizes, genders, and races outside. "I'm not going to give you guys any speech about how this is is a big night or any Lord of the Rings crap. So I'm just going to get right to the point. I'm going to split you guys up into three teams:" Elaine looks to the left and glances over approximately 40 people, then points to a medium sized muscular man. "From you to the left, you guys are going to get onto the roof of the building before anyone goes in. You guys are going to quietly dispatch the guards on the roof, there are eight of them, either before or while you are on the roof. After that, you guys need to find a way into the building and override the security. You guys will have ten minutes to do this. After that," Elaine glances over about the same amount of people from the right side. "you guys will dispatch the five guards in the back, and then break in through the back entrance. After that, you guys need to be able to quickly break in and the roof team will join you. Finally, the rest of you will make an assault on the front end of the building with me. Then we will all run into the main area of the building and claim the building. It is very important that we do not kill any civilians, or we'll lose any trust in other people we have on our side. It's also expected that there will be guards inside the building as well, so be on your toes. Does everyone understand?"

"Yes," is the very confident response from every single person from the crowd.

"Good. Now everyone take your weapons and follow me."

Re: Revolutionaries (English)

Teir makes it to the counter - finally - when a scream erupts from the crowd.

"People are descending the stairs!" An explosion rocks the back of the building, and Teir turns quickly and draws his sword. "Men - to me!" The survivors - about fifteen of soldiers - quickly make his way to them. The civilians, by this point, are gone. They're surrounded by the enemy.

♥♥♥♥. No escape.

"Are you willing to surrender?" One of the men in the group steps forward, and Teir looks at him. Surrender... No. I will not let these dogs beat me here.

"I want three of you to head out the front. Everyone else is coming with me." Teir grasps his sword tighter and looks at the ring of men around them; there looked to be around eighty of them by now. He'd have to rely on the three men to provide a distraction while he and the others cut through the enemy.

Teir reached inside of himself, the twelve men that remained forming a ring around him, and formed a large circle of stone around them. He began to sweat from the effort, but let the magic go. Shouts were heard on the other side of the cylinder, and Teir assumed that fighting had begun. Enemy soldiers began pouring into the cylinder from the only entrance he'd left, and Teir began to use spears of earth coming from the ground to decapitate them. It was exhausting.

"I want five of you to head to the bank's vault. Burn everything inside; we won't let them have anything from this place. The rest of you will fight with me. Are you ready? Good. Let's go."

He let the magic go - again - and charged into the midst of the enemy, his allies at his side.

Re: Revolutionaries (English)

Damn, and earth shield. Wait... OH ♥♥♥♥! Only the general uses that type of magic! The sudden rise from the earth caused some of the citizens to flip out, and everyone started attacking at the column, trying to break it loose. Maybe a little fire could melt it... Elaine launches a fireball at the column, but it ended up forging a little section to be a little stronger. Crap. Well, I'll just wait.

After about a minute of attacking, the cylinder gets let down. Most of the guys are too exhausted to attack the guards that were inside of it. Seven of them start running for the back exit, and five more start running up the stairs. Now why would- The money! "You guys!" Elaine points to the half of the room closer to the exit. "Get the runners! The rest of you! Come with me to stop those other soldiers!" Elaine plows through the mob of people chasing after the five guards.

When Elaine gets to the vault followed by the mob of about forty people, the fire has already started. The mob all rushes forward to beat the guards to death. Elaine rushes forward to try to stop the fire, but accidentally adds to the fire, making it worse. God ♥♥♥♥ing damn it! While Elaine desperately tries to figure out a way to put out the fire without hurting himself, the fire weakened the floor along with the added weight of melted coins becomes too much for the building's structure. Half of the vault's floor falls off, taking the burnt money and some that weren't with it. The floor falls on top of the fire below, extinguishing it. Will you look at that... I guess miracles do exist.

Re: Revolutionaries (English)

They hit resistance almost right away; the one's closest to them converged on top of them, and the group began to slash every which way. A couple launched balls of fire or electricity at the enemy, and men went down left and right.

This is bad... Teir swung left and brought down a man, and then charged into another and spun to kill two more. They were literally everywhere; they couldn't hold them off much longer. One of the guards went down, but everyone kept on going. Another followed, and Teir cursed. If they lost more guards it would be over.

"You, get that door open!" Teir turned and pulled up columns of earth from the ground, launching it at the enemy. They formed a semi-circle around the man working on the door, and the cut down anyone who tried to get through. It worked - the door opened and the rushed out, Teir using the last of his magic strength to close the exit with a block of steel from the floor. It was a close call.

The group took off running towards HQ, not looking back. One of the survivors fell, an arrow to his back, and that only caused the group to run faster. A small fire could be seen in the bank, and Teir smiled as the ran.

Re: Revolutionaries (English)

"This was all for a good cause." Elaine says to himself as he surveys the wreckage. There were 25 rebels killed where there were 25 killed on the other side. All-in-all, the ratio was much better: 1:4 for the rebels, 5:6 for the army.

Servine looks at Elaine has he continues surveying. "We need to start refurbishing this place so we can start making money. We can use the money that survived the fire to repair the structural damage. We have much more than enough money to do so. We'll use some of the money to purchase armor and weapons, and we'll put some of it into stocks."

"We may not want to do that; if the enemy finds the stocks, we'll lost it all. Just put it into more armor and weapons." Elaine points out. No matter how much I try to suppress the thought, the fact holds true that now the general won't ♥♥♥♥ around with us...

Re: Revolutionaries (English)

"Teir? It looks like you had a bad day."

"I don't have time for this now, Tanya. We just lost more ground." He looked at the red haired woman and shook his head; she joked around way too much for his tastes. This was war, and she came to work every day in frilly dresses with too much make up on like it was nothing. He couldn't understand how people found the time to be calm during all this.

"Tell the Council. Maybe they'll change their minds."

"Hah! I'd like to see that. They'd rather die than agree on something. In this case, it looks like they will die."

"What are you going to do?"

"Act, that's what. I'm heading home now; I want any maps of the city you can find on my desk tomorrow morning. Got it?" He took his things from his office and left after that, not waiting for an answer. He'd need to test their defenses, and he'd also need to get that damned bank back. Looks like the military funding will have to wait until tomorrow.

He got in his car, inserting the key and turning the ignition. The car started with a satisfying vroom, and the dark red hunk of metal lifted into the air. He adjusts his mirrors and pressed the gas, speeding past streets lined with people.

The city was an interesting sight to him; on one end, you had low buildings where most civilians lived. They were fairly small, and they were close together. They were all of the same dull brown color, and were made of some type of stone found in this area hundreds of years back. You could see newer buildings among them; the white, black and silver of random businesses, signs for some obscure restaurant, and even a tall new apartment complex at some blocks.

On the other side of the city you had towers that stretched high into the sky, housing hundreds of offices and even military housing. They had huge storage sheds, car dealerships, and most of the developed city lay here. Apartments were located every other corner, and they housed thousands of the cities residents. The entire city was surrounded by some thirty foot high walls as well, though this was for show more than anything. With recent advancements in magic technology the use of walls was moot; anyone could get over them now. Not only that, but compared to the magic some people could perform they were like glass, waiting to be broken at any time. He didn't know why the Council hadn't agreed to the king's proposal of scrapping the walls and using the raw materials obtained to expand the city. Then again, most people didn't know why the Council did anything. It was ridiculous how stubborn they could be.

Teir hit the brakes of the car and let it hover down, turning it off when it hit the ground. He stepped out and entered his house; it was a small building with several rooms inside. He stepped inside, and stopped.

Inside he found blood - a lot of it.

Re: Revolutionaries (English)

Servine walks through the front door of the cabin. "What do you do now?"

"I don't know..." Elaine replies. "The general is going to get into this more than he originally had been. He may even come in personally..." Elaine puts his hand to his chin to think, and exhales heavily. The breath catches fire and ignites the table once again. He quickly puts out the flame and tells Servine "Remind me to get a fire-resistant table later."

"Are you going to have any plans right now?" Servine asks after regarding Elaine's statement.

"I have to think..."

Servine's cell phone starts ringing, so she picks it up and walks outside. Elaine can faintly hear the mumbling of her conversation through the wooden walls as he thinks of what he is going to do. When Servine walks back inside, Elaine says "I have an idea, but it's just a thought. We'll have to take care of the general."

Servine gives a disapproving look as she says "That's just what I got off the phone about."

"What? I haven't even thought anything through yet!"

Servine explains the situation that occurred at the general's house, even going back to the recording of the phone conversation for reference. "Since you have not given any such thoughts yet, we can only assume that a rogue has done this work."

Elaine grabs the edge of the table in preparation to flip it over, but he resists the urge. Instead, because he ended the action that he was about to do so swiftly, he accidentally ignites the table again. I need a new table sooner than I thought I would.

Re: Revolutionaries (English)

"What the hell happened here?" Teir walked in and flipped on the lights, blinking as a yellow glow filled the room. Color flooded in, and he saw that his things were torn, thrown about the room, and his entire home was in shambles. It was a disaster. He walked farther into the house, entering the living room, and looked around. Two men lay, dead, on the floor. Blood had pooled up around them, and the faint outline of previously burned wood could be seen around them.

"A tragedy, yes?" The voice made Teir jump. Turning around, he grabbed the hilt of his sword and stared at the man before him. He had short black hair, green eyes that glinted with rebellion, and a slightly muscular build. He had two swords on his back, and he wore grey chainmail. He had this dangerous aura around him, but nothing about him seemed particularly dangerous.

"Who are you?" Teir didn't take his eyes of the man.

"My name is Sayn, Teir. These men were here to kill. Lively things, really." The man spat on them and smiled at Teir. "They should really send better assassins next time."

"This must be because I escaped earlier... That doesn't pose well. The rebels are getting more ambitious by the day. If the Council doesn't act-"

"That's what I'm here about," the man cut off Teir abruptly. He put a hand to his forehead and sighed. "You're not going to wait for the Council to act."

"What? That would be treason, though!"

"You'd rather hang? I mean, what can they do to you. You have an army by your side."

"They have a king."

"See, that's the point. I'm actually acting on the king's orders. He has been in support of the swift destruction of the rebels this entire time, has he not?" Sayn turned and picked up something off of the floor, then turned back to Teir. "You wouldn't want her death to be in vain, do you?" He turned the picture to face Teir, and Teir gasped. Chloe...

"That's what I thought," Sayn continued, "now, how about we discuss strategy?"

"Yes... let's... let's do that. But first... How close are you to the king?"

"Very. Now please, take a seat. We're going to be at this for a while."

Re: Revolutionaries (English)

Elaine walks through the dark forest toward the city. It's usually a bad idea to be in the woods at night, some people say that werewolves and such wander the forest at night. Elaine knows that that idea is full of crap, and the real danger is the remains of the dead. He knows this all too well, and had to off twenty skeletons in the last five minutes. Those are probably as bad as the bears that come out in the day, although they are really easy to kill they still may have weapons that they took with them to their grave, so that danger is very real.

As Elaine approaches the gate to the city, he looks at the size of the gate compared to the wall. Most of the citizens don't see why the wall exists in the first place, and Elaine doesn't see to much why, either. It would be 16th century stuff where size is a means of intimidation, but that was centuries ago. It also kinda mediates the forest from the city, so that kinda keeps them away from his area.

"Hey, you there." Elaine hears someone demand. He turns to see a guard at the gate pointing at him. "I know you. Step over here."

Damn. Elaine thinks to himself. That bank attack really must have set the general off; I've never seen guards at the gate before. Because no one cared about the gate, they didn't need guards. Elaine approaches the guard, reluctantly.

The guard opens his mouth to speak, probably to arrest him or something for being in "cahoots with the enemy", but the guard never gets to let out his thoughts. All of a sudden, the guard lets out a yell and drops onto ground. The guard took an arrow to the knee.

Elaine looks behind him and remembers the tree houses that he had put into the forest near the beginning of the uprising. And sure enough, there's one of the best archers he has at his disposal with another arrow at the ready. I have to admit, this is probably a better wall.

"Damn, not again! This is what made me a guard in the first place! Thank god I survived that one, though." The guard yells some profanity as Elaine raises his hand toward the archer and closing his fist firmly. The archer nods, and fires an arrow right into the guard's head.

Now, gotta go get that table...
