Harry Potter RP

Matt was beginning to get bored with Lori's predictable antagonism. He definitely didn't feel the need to glare at her, since he'd heard her throw much worse insults at him. Shaking his head, he followed her. "Lead away, mighty Lori. Protect me from the big bad monsters, would you kindly?"

Lori glared at Matt, but stepped back. As she was walking back to the group there was a loud groan from behind. She turned to see a second stone flying from the bushes and hitting the troll in the face. He rubbed his face and reluctantly opened his eyes. When he saw his unwelcome guests he stumbled to his feet and raised his club high above his head, letting out a blood curdling roar.

"I meant to throw pebbles at you from a distance, but trolling you seemed like such a better option." A familiar voice squeaked out from the bushes.

The troll chased after the group as they ran - for having such stubby legs he was surprisingly fast.

Matt felt...focused. More than usual. Strange. A troll was chasing them. Seems natural he'd be panicking, but he wasn't. All he could think of was Once I get my hands on that bastard I'll curse him inside out...

He sprinted forward, turned around, and yelled "MOVE!!" as he raised his wand at the troll and yelled, "EVERTE STATUM!" An invisible force streaked forward and struck the troll squarely in the chest, momentarily raising its feet off the ground and throwing it back two feet. Without hesitation, Matt spun and cast his second spell, "PETRIFICUS TOTALUS!" The troll froze where it stood, its eyes bulging with the effort of trying to move against the jinx.

Speaking loudly to the sky, Matt said, "Oh? Is that the best you've got, mate? I've seen better plans doodled in a toddler's picture book!"

To say it stank would be the understatement of the century. Cassandra nearly gagged on the smell as they opened the door, bringing her sleeve up to her nose. And it was pitch black to boot. Lovely.

Mr. Prongs would like to say this is how Mr. Wormtail smells even after he took a bath.

Cassandra looked down at the map and frowned, and took out a small muggle flashlight out of her pocket.

Mr. Padfoot would like to ask why Miss Scary Eyes has a muggle flash light. She is a witch. Use magic.
Mr. Mooney would like to remind that first years aren't taught Lumos.
Mr. Wormtail thinks that's stupid.
Mr. Padfoot thinks Mr. Wormtail is stupid.

"Oi!" Lori yelled at Audrey as she was forced to be pulled along. "I can handle this! Let me go!" She had managed to pull her wand out of her jeans pocket and between running, she pointed it at the troll.

However, Matt beat her to the punch. Lori paused, kind of pissed that Matt got to it first. But then the troll started moving again. What the hell! Even with a brain the size of a walnut, Matt's spells should be able to stop the dumb beast.

Lori pointed her wand at the troll herself.

"Expelliarmus!" She cried. The troll lost it's club, but it didn't seem to notice that fact at all and kept charging the group.

"What do we have to do to stop this thing?!" Lori cried as she double timed, this time grabbing Matt before he could cast another spell. Things didn't seem to be working and running while casting spells didn't seem to be helping at the moment. Even if one of them in the group was a blood genius.

Matt fought against Lori's grip. "Oi, will you let me go? I can beat this bastard if you just give me my bloody space!"

He fought enough to get his wand hand free, and while being dragged, cast, "Furnuculus" while aiming at the troll's feet. Angry, red boils broke out on its exposed feet, which popped when it ran. The troll howled painfully and fell over, clutching its feet.

Lori paused, noticing the forgotten club a few yards back. She blinked, gaining an idea.

"Wingardium Leviosa," she cried, doing the mandatory swish and flick. The troll, now thoroughly enraged by Matt's spell started to stagger (although at a much slower rate then before) at the group, determined to squash the little bugs which dared to piss it off. Lori yanked back her wand and as the troll quickly approached them, howling and grunting and pointing to them making what Lori could only assume were troll obscene gestures, the club which she had cast her spell on came flying from the back and hit the troll with a dull thud.

The troll paused a moment, blink stupidly and came crashing down, it's head at the foot of Lori's feet. Lori collapsed to the ground, still in shock at the whole incident.

"Well," she said finally. "Teamwork gets the job done. Good job team."

Lori was shaking in her shoes. They were attacked. By a troll. But she wasn't thinking about that. She was too busy thinking about how if Matt wasn't there, she wouldn't be able to help stop it. To help defend everyone. To be the knight like she wanted to be. She had promised to protect Matt (and everyone else) and she almost couldn't.

And that bugged her. Scared her.

She still wasn't good enough.

Matt spun on Lori. "Really? You couldn't let me handle it? Not once? I had this under control! What gives you the right to steal every moment I have? You blew up the bloody potions classroom, and now you knocked out the troll I was about to take down! You're! Just! Like! That! BASTARD!!" With that last word, he yelled and swung his wand, and one of the smaller trees had a hole blasted clean through its trunk.

"You mean duel effort." Audrey corrected.

"Temper temper." The familiar voice spoke up again. Audrey yelped as a furry face popped up from under her vest. She resisted the urge to slap at it.

"How did you get in there?" She looked amazed at the tiny face looking out from her chest.

"I'm an earthbound spirit. A ghost, a freak. Kekeke." He climbed up and sprawled across her shoulders. "I doubt you could have taken the troll on by yourself, Mr. Hot Head. I've seen better spells at a 3rd grade spelling bee. You would have been squashed if it wasn't for her."

Matt snarled as he heard the voice behind him. Spinning on his heel, he raised his wand and yelled, "DEPULSO!!" As soon as he finished uttering the spell, his eyes widened, and he frantically tried to aim the wand elsewhere, but he was too late. The spell struck Audrey square in the chest where the voice came from, and watched, horrified, as she was thrown thirty feet away to land, skidding, on the ground.

Matt dropped his wand, stunned, and ran over to Audrey's side, trying to help her up.

"Oi! OI! Are you ok? Speak to me! Oh god...oh god, I'm so sorry..."

Lori wasn't paying attention to anything. Not to Matt. Not to the hole in the small tree courtesy of Matt. Not to Audrey. Not to Shaun. And not to the little voice (although it registered somewhere in the back of her mind) that had manifested itself again.

However, she did hear Audrey's pained gasp and Matt's curse and her mind still on the failure to protect everyone made her whip around to see Matt with a shocked expression, his wand pointed at the Slytherian girl who was on the ground about thirty feet back.

It didn't take a genius to figure out what had happened.

And that man's face was still in her mind. That cruel face. Mocking her. Cold fury crept through Lori's veins. She didn't know a lot of spells. She couldn't do much. But god help her, she wouldn't fail this time. She wouldn't let that bastard have the last laugh.

She pointed her wand at Matt's back, surprisingly level for her state of mind.

"Expelliarmus," she snarled and a jet of red light hit the middle of Matt's back. In addition to making him lose his wand, Matt was thrown forward just like Audrey was. Lori stood up, and picked up Matt's fallen wand.

She dangerously walked towards him, her wand still trained on the fallen boy. Her eyes narrowed.

Shaun was yelling something. Probably to stop all of this. But Lori wasn't listening. Matt had just hurt Audrey. Matt had just hurt her friend.

And he was going to pay.

Audrey let out as cry of pain before passing out. A few feet away the furry little beast made growling sounds as he tried to stumble to his paws, but couldn't.

Matt's shoulders heaved as he pushed himself up off the ground. As he turned around, Lori could see they were sobs, and tears stained his face. His face was the picture of purest despair. Suddenly, he looked her directly in the eyes and stopped crying.

"Kill me. I deserve it. I hurt her...even though I didn't mean to. I deserve every bit of wrath you have. Please. Kill me."

He closed his eyes, an expression of peaceful resignation on his tear-stained face.

"I'm not a murderer," Lori spat. "I don't kill defenseless people." She pocketed both of their wands (she didn't need them; she didn't even know enough spells to make them useful) and swung back her leg and kicked Matt as hard as she could in the stomach making Matt cough out in pain.

"And don't be so god damn suicidal," she snarled as she lifted him up with ease by the collar with one hand. She pulled back her hand and punched him in the face and there was a satisfying crack as Lori's hand connected with Matt's nose; she had just broke it.

"I hate people who won't defend themselves."

Another punch.

"I hate people who attack defenseless people."

And another.

"And I hate people who run away from responsibility for their actions."

Lori threw Matt back to the ground, his face covered with bruises and his nose broken. There was tear marks under his eyes; one of which Lori blackened for him.

"And guess what Matthew 'Bloody' Cabrera? You are all three." She breathed heavily, and she just noticed Shaun's cries to stop.

Shaun couldn't believe what he was watching.

"Lori!" He screamed. "Get the bloody hell away from him!"

Lori gave Shaun a dirty look, the rage still in her eyes. She was dangerous right now and should not be trifled with.

"He deserved it," she said, her voice void of any emotions. "He could have killed her. He was like him." Tears began to roll down her face.

"He was just like him god damn it!"

Matt collapsed to the ground, sobbing through his broken face. He accepted the pain he felt. He deserved it and more. He deserved everything she gave him. He turned around and dragged himself to a the nearest tree, leaving a trail of blood and tears as he went. When he reached the tree, he drew his head back, and slammed it as hard as he could against its trunk. Thud. He felt the vibration throughout his body; drank it in, accepted it. This is what I deserve. This and more. That's what she always said...why didn't I listen to her? I hurt that girl...I should...I should... He reared his head back and bashed it against the trunk again. Thud. A drop of blood began to run down the bark. A third time, he pulled his head back and aimed his temple at the trunk. If I'm lucky for once in my life, this should finally end it... His vision was fading at the corners as he rammed his head into the tree. A flash of white, and then he knew no more.

Shaun locked eyes with Lori. He spoke in a slow, calm voice.

"And how is beating the snot out of Matt going to help Audrey?"

Tears began to stream down Shaun's face.

"Please stop it Lori. Please."

ooc: Lori stopped when she threw him on the ground. She was done with him at the point. She is pissed off to an extreme, but she isn't heartless. She just beat him up enough to get her point across. Then he bloody goes and knocks himself out.

BiC: "If I don't stand up for Audrey, who will?" Lori asked. Just then she noticed Matt dragging himself towards the tree. "Hey, what the hell are you doing-"

Much to Lori's shock he began to hit his head against the tree.

"You idiot what are you doing?!" She cried and went to stop him, but Matt crumbled to the ground. She was too late. Again. She couldn't defend anybody tonight.

"You are just like him," she said finally. "It's sickening."

The parallels between the man that almost killed her that night five years ago and Matt made her nauseous. She couldn't even look at Matt right now without seeing that man's face in the forefront of her mind.

Shaun was tired of this. He was tired of these people. He was sick of this blasted school and these crazy students. For the first time since he arrived at Hogwarts, he wanted to leave.

Shaun ran over and looked at Matt. His face was bruised and covered in blood. He was unconscious. Shaun couldn't take this anymore. He fell to the ground and pressed his face against the tree roots and began to sob.

Upon hearing all of the yelling, a centaur ventured out of the brush. His eyebrow raised as he looked around at the scene.

"What is going on? Unconscious students, unconscious troll, bickering children? This is not the place to be having your cheap thrills. I am taking you back to your school and I hope I should never see you there-after." He laid down between the bodies and motioned for the two to help load the unconscious bodies onto his back.

OoC: Seriously, we need a wagon for these bodies . . . Bring out your dead. Ding!

Whoa whoa whoa, lets all worry about Matt and not Audrey who was blasted in the chest. Poor Audrey. =(
