Welcome to the world of Pokemon! Pokemon are powerful and wonderful creatures that live alongside humans. Some people keep Pokemon as friends, some collect as many Pokemon as they can and some use their tremendous abilities for battle! Some Japanese people even produce Pokemon videogames to make astounding amounts of cash! From Kanto to Johto, Sinnoh to Unova, Pokemon can be found everywhere, in roughly a billion varieties and species. But what about another region, Shiku? Yeah, I bet you've never even heard of the Shiku region, right? Well, welcome to Shiku.

This RP takes place in the newly created (thanks Crabhelmet!) Shiku region, which is completely original (and probably full of copyright infrigments and borrowed ideas) and totally new.

Our story begins in Chartreuse Town during The Festival of New Beginnings (Shiku's "New Year"). Here visitors from all over come together to celebrate, and partake in special events, foods and wares from all of Shiku's towns and citizens. During this festival, the Pokemon researcher, Professor Fern, has come to offer new partners for people who wish to begin their own bonds with Pokemon.

The Pokemon league has reopened its gates this year, and the eight gyms throughout Shiku are ready to take on any and all challengers!

Also, local news has been mentioning "Team Rocket" and their recruitment, which is apparently on the rise. As a nation trying to change its past, the local law enforcement has taken a stiff opposition to this band of criminals and thugs, and Chartreuse Town is on high alert for any activity.

But while all of the nation's attention is on Chartruese town and their "new beginnings", the legends of Shiku's past have been brought into the light. Whispers of the relighting of three long-dark lighthouses have spread, as well as the return of the three Pokemon who once ravaged the land before being scared off generations ago...

Storytime's over, here's the rules...which are prolly gonna change a few times.

Pokemon levels aren't really gonna be tracked in this RP, just keep them sensical. If you think its time for a Pokemon to evolve or learn a new move, go ahead. I mean, you prolly won't have a Dragonite by the third gym, but you most likely will have a Wartortle, ya know? Same with moves, just keep it sensical.

As far as battles and attacks go, you can take a few liberties with the effects, similar to how the TV show/manga does it. No "omg i did 67 damage, you had 65 hp I WIN". You can get as creative as you want, just be fair. Common sense prevails over game mechanics.

Capturing Pokemon: Just shoot myself, Zelda Universe Forums - View Profile: Crab Helmet or Zelda Universe Forums - View Profile: Aradia a PM, and let us know what you want to catch, so we can work it into the route, location or general storyline of where we are.

Characters dont HAVE to stick together as a team, so feel free to wander off in your own little groups if you dont wanna stick with the main storyline.

We'll show off each Gym leaders Pokemon when we reach that respective gym, to keep things fresh. Same with the MYSTICAL ELITE FOUR.

At the start of the RP, each character can have a maximum of two Pokemon. If the character is already a Pokemon trainer, they can start with any Pokemon they want. If they are a new trainer receiving their first Pokemon from Professor Fern, you can choose from any uneveolved Pokemon, and we'll make sure Professor Fern convienetly has what you're looking for. She's very good at her job.

WELCOME TO SHIKU ITS COOL HERE
Long, long ago the Shiku region was a mess. As technology began to spread, the people of Shiku tore the whole country up, draining resources and screwing the environment. Three mystical, elemental birds roosted in three equally mystical light houses that had been constructed generations ago. The three birds, disturbed by Shiku's disregard for their land terrorized the nation. The people of Shiku eventually fought off the trio, scaring them off into parts unknown. The three lighthouses that used to be their home have remained extinguished for years now, and for Shiku's sake, should stay that way.

In an effort to never again have such a disaster, Shiku has doubled their efforts to be more "green", and now strive to be the most ecological country in the world. Between old traditions and high tech advances, almost the entire region is working together to rebuild and change themselves.




Chartreuse Town: Is a ranch and farm based town where Professor Fern lives. Has no poke-markets or pokecenter, instead they have markets once a week to sell what is grown and raised there.

Clover City: A nice simple city surrounded by a large forest. One of the largest gadget or "personal use technologies companies, iPoke is HQ'd here.

Azure City: A city that prides itself in being being up to date with technology but being as eco-friendly as possible. The entire city is powered by solar panels and wind turbines, which also power most of the western side of Shiku. There is gym here, the Electric gym.

Auburn Town: A pit-stop town. Filled with berries trees and flowers. The first Pokemon Contest is being held here.

Cerise Town: A very old town that looks like it comes from the history books. It holds the first lighthouse, which is even older than most of the buildings in the town. The citizens of Cerise Town live a very simple, traditional life.

Amber Town: A small town that sits on the edge of a vast desert. It holds a giant museum in which the people on the town store artefacts that they find in the caves and desert around the town. It also has a Gym leader who uses Rock/Ground Pokemon.

Citrine City: A poor and rather polluted city. For the longest time it had the reputation of being the worst city of the country, filled with gangs and criminals. The gym leader here uses Dark Type Pokemon. Has a strong rivalry with Verdigris, which is on the otherside of the Central Mountains.

Verdigris City: On the opposite side of the Central Mountains, Verdigris revolves around lumber-jacking. Another city that strongly tries to be eco-friendly as possible, they are very adamant to plant just as many trees as they cut. It has a gym leader here focusing on Fighting Type Pokemon.

Lilac City: A port city, which is Shiku's biggest tie to the outside world. Away from the ports, this is a huge fishing spot. It has a gym here, led by a Water type trainer.

Amaranth City: A coal-mining town that is placed near a a dormant volcano. Not well known is that there is a lighthouse here that is long abandoned, and rumored to be haunted. It has a gym here as well, a fire type gym leader.

Umber City: Is the capital city, filled with skyscrapers. It holds the Safari zone and another gym leader, this one using Dragon types.

Feldgrau City: A small seaside town that is a pit-stop on the way to Umber and Zaffre cities. It has various tourist spots, including beautiful beaches, an amusement park and all sorts of quaint beach cottages.

Zaffre City: A city built on stilts and little rafts in the middle of the ocean. A majority of the city is comprised of houseboats tied together, while other buildings and pathways are supported by floating plants. It holds one of the worlds most beautiful gardens. The gym leader, a grass type takes care of the gardens.

Name: Mel

Backstory: He's a ninja wannabe, obviously. Knows no real ninja technique, other than what he taught himself, and who knows exactly what that was. He has six brothers (he's the youngest), and his mother and father live in a small farm just off the edge of Chartreuse Town. He's a pretty chill guy, kills aliens and doesn't afraid of anything.

Personality: He's happy. All the time.

Items and Equipment: He carries an mp3 which comes in handy when he feels like there needs to be music playing during a certain sequence of his life. He has about a handful of Potions, a few extra pokeballs, and an Antidote he found on the side of the road one day.

Badges: Not a single one as of yet.

Pokémon: He has a Cyndiquil. She's been in Mel's possession for just over ten days now!

Name: Cobalt

Appearance:

Cobalt's pretty short, only about 5'4" tall and he hasn't grown in quite some time...just don't remind him.

Backstory: Cobalt was born and raised on Sienna Ranch, a large large ranch outside of Chartreuse Town. He didn't get to leave the ranch often, so he hasn't seen much of Shinku. After helping his family through a few rough seasons, he's finally able to get out and see the rest of Shinku.

Personality: Cobalt is kind of a smartass, and really overconfident in his abilities. Infact, he's not a very good Pokemon trainer at all, and has often resorted to actually fighting his opponents, instead of a Pokemon battle. Running his mouth can often land him in trouble, but he's very loyal to his friends. He's also really interested in the ladies. Spending a lot of time outdoors, he's really good at outdoorsy things, everything from campfires to fence building. However, he's not very bright and has very bad grammar.

Cobalt's motivation for going on his Pokemon journey is merely to see and explore the world.

Items and Equipment: Cobalt uses his very own lasso to capture (or try to) Pokemon. He's got a few Pokeballs, some food and a couple of potions to start out with. All of his supplies are kept in a small knapsack.

Notes Allouette was captured by Cobalt when they were both quite young. Since then, she has grown tremendously, and is quite large and strong for a Ponyta. Large enough to ride, Cobalt made a special bridle and saddle for Allouette, and she's more than happy to carry him wherever he needs to go. Quickly, at that. She's very skittish and has a tendancy to bolt when scared, often with her rider strapped in.

Notes Tumbleweed is perpetually dusty. Both his leaves and shell are more brown than green. Cobalt found him wallowing in a dried up river bed and munching on sticks, so he's just accepted his behavior. He's healthy, and has a huge appetite for crunchy things, but he's...just dusty.

Name: Katherine Cass. She goes by Kit.

Gender: Female!

Age: 18.

Appearance: Kit is about 5’6, and looks vaguely like a girl from the city, albeit a fashionably-confused one- pants, oversized and/or old t-shirts, but also hiking boots. If her hair were shorter she would look like a young boy, but it isn’t- her red-brown, center-parted it goes down just past her breasts. She lends the appearance of being skin and bones but is actually somewhat strong. Around her neck on a string are eight keys.

Backstory: When she was young, she travelled around a lot. She spent much of the first eight years of her life in Citrine City, but after that she moved around a lot with her mother and older brother Hal. She’s lived in Feldgrau, Clover, Cerise, and Amaranth. She also spent a few months in a cabin in the Central Mountains. Kit is pretty sure her mother was some kind of criminal, but was never certain. She has met her father but does not know where he is at the moment. She came to Chartreuse to create some continuity in a very disjointed life.

Personality: Kit is a guarded, cautious person who has an annoying tendency to always have to be right. She’s been described as “too serious” by people who don’t know her, but she’s a softie beneath a hard shell (that is admittedly hard to crack) She has a lot of acquaintances, but few good friends.

Items and Equipment: Kit likes technology and gadgets and she carries an advanced Pokedex (that doubles as a tablet!) equipped with a videophone, GPS, internet access, and built-in encyclopedia. She’s also got food, water, some Pokeballs, and about 30 different keys. (she collects/steals them. sometimes they come in handy.)

Notes Kit and Molly have been together for a very long time and understand one another well, but Molly was hesitant to fight until quite recently so she isn’t very strong or confident.

Age: 17
Appearance: Valmar stands at six foot five, and is on the bulkier side. His curly brown hair flows freely to his shoulders. He wears simple clothes and prefers to wear dark colors, such as black, dark blue, etc. On his back is a backpack. He has a thin face, no facial hair, and has piercing green eyes.

Backstory: He was born and raised for most of his life in Amber Town, with his father. He never knew his mother, and his father refused to ever speak of it. He had a decent childhood, but his father never made him feel adequate enough. When he turned fifteen he asked if he could go out on his own, and his father had no qualms with it. Ever since he's been heading east and south.

Personality: Valmar is distrustful towards strangers, but once one becomes his friend, they find themselves with a loyal ally. If a friend is ever in trouble, you can count on him. He's generally happy, but also doesn't speak much unless he finds reason to. Due to his size he was never really bullied and has kept a high self esteem. He's a good trainer and can hold his own in a fight as well.

Supplies: His balls are on his belt and everything else is in his backpack. He has potions, spare pokeballs, food and drink, a map of the region, and a small sapphire he found in the desert when he was younger.

Appearance: 5'8. Has a brown mane of hair, starting to gray, and perpetual stubble, mostly gray already. He wears his dark blue polo shirt tucked into kacki pants. Fit much too tight over his head, and making his hair puff out comically, is a bright red cap. On his back he wears a similarly too-small bright red backpack.

Backstory:
Mr. Walnut has lived in Umber City his whole life, working for an industrial delivery and storage company for most of that time. Despite living in a world that we actually prefice with the word "Pokemon", Mr. Walnut knows suprising little about them. He's never been inside the city's pokemon center, he never payed much attention to anyone nearby who might be battling, and the only pokemon he can reliably say anything about are Machoke and Gurdurr... because the company uses them for business.

Recently forced into a very early retirement (in other words, he was fired politely), Mr. Walnut has spent the last 6 months living with his younger brother and bratty nephew. This kid loved to brag about how great his pokemon are and how he's going to be the very best. "Don't you have any pokemon?" he'd ask, knowing full well the answer. "Jeez, you missed the boat big time."

So, Mr. Walnut has come out to Chartruese in order to show the little ♥♥♥♥ who "the very best" is, and also because, hell, he's got nothing better to do.

Personality:
Mr. Walnut is an ornery and impulsive man. Most things piss him off to some extent. When he actually likes something, it seems rather arbitrary. He's not very smart, but he acts like he knows what's going on even when he doesn't. He manages to fool very few people this way.

Items and Equipment: Right now: a bright red trainer's backpack designed for people 40 years his junior. Empty, except for several packets of ambiguous meat-flavored jerky (meat FLAVORED, guys, I'm not opening up that can of worms)

Name: Matilda "Tilly" Laine
Gender: Female
Age: 6 1/2. She will tell you she is 8.
Appearance: 3'2", 32lbs. Red hair, pale skin, blue eyes, freckles. Skinned knees and elbows.
Backstory: Tilly is the daughter of the Amber City Gym Leader, Christine. Her mother, while holding her title as gym leader, also works as the Museums' main curator and historian -- making her incredibly scatterbrained and negligent. Tilly has learned how to become self-sufficient because of that, even though she is still young and in many ways incredibly childish (she is six).
Currently, Tilly has taken to playing "pretend" -- pretending to be her mother, that is. In this way, she runs the gym, taking on (very confused) trainers. So far, her mother has not noticed.
Personality: A typical 6 year old, Tilly is still "developing". A moody child, she is accustomed to getting her own way (various interns that work for her mother) and can grow extremely upset (see also: tantrums) if she doesn't get it. She is also incredibly spunky and enjoys a good fight -- she believes that she is the best trainer around and will never back down from a fight, even though she always loses.
Like any six year old, Tilly enjoys games, and always has "something to show you, guys".
Items and Equipment: An extra package of bandaids, stale candy, a plush pokemon egg and her "spelunking" hat.

Name: Burton (Or just Burt.)

Gender: Male

Age: 17

Appearance: Terribad doodle ahoy. Burton is a large lad. He stands at 6'01", and a few years of lumberjackin' have left him with a lean body. His brown, neck-length hair is often left messy, only brushed backwards when it starts to get in the way. His face is very square, and often bears a particularly blank looking face. His nose is slightly bulky, and his eyes are blue, often sporting a glassy look about them. His attire is generally very plain, white t-shirts and trousers held up by suspenders.

Backstory: Burton is a late starter on his pokemon quest. Originally from Veredgris, his father agreed to let him go on his quest, but only if he'd known HARD WORK beforehand. Now at 17, Burton is headed for Chartreuse to pick up his first pokemon.

Personality: Not particularly a socialite, he prefers to let others approach him before he starts talking. However, despite seeming somewhat stoic, he trusts people easily, and isn't afraid to show emotions. His HARD-WORKING background has also instilled something of a sense of justice in him, and although he isn't about to go and take on team rocket single handed, he can't stand by if he sees something that is plainly wrong.

Items and Equipment: He doesn't carry much with him. Money, clothes and food mostly, all in a serviceable if boring backpack. Also, LOTS of changes of underwear. His pappy gifted him an Xtransceiver before he left.

Name: Leafy

Gender: Female

Age: 15

Appearance:

Backstory: Lives in Clover City and has for her entire life. Leafy only has been out of the city for race occasions, like the festival. She is the youngest of three, her older brother travelling the world, and her old sister working at iPoke. She decides to become a Pokemon Trainer to help figure out what she wants to do with her life.

Personality: Leafy is a socially awkward girl, even flustered by people she's acquanited with, making her sometimes seem distant and rude. She is also prone to bouts of indecision, not really sure where here path in life will lead. However, she is quite observant, and her distant, watchful nature has made her quite a good judge of character. Despite this, she still finds it hard to approach people.

Items and Equipment: She carries around rollerblades for quicker travels. She also has a couple of Pokeballs and Potions in her bag, just in case. Also has an xtransceiver.

Badges: Nil.

Name: Maggie DeTona

Gender: Female

Age: 20

Appearance: Approx. 5' 9", short dark brown hair, bright blue eyes. Muscles lightly toned from years of exercise, mainly from swimming and running. Normally wears short, tight clothing, good for running and quick drying.

Backstory: Maggie has always wanted to be a strong person. Raised by a single mother, she worked hard to enforce her strength, not wanting to end up like her mother, sometimes seeming to be too aggressive. She enjoys swimming in the ocean near her hometown, Chartreuse Town, even on cold days. It was in the ocean that she found her first (and so far only) Pokemon. After finding out what it was from Professor Fern, she decided she would work out with it. The idea of something so seemingly weak, but capable of such strength made her feel a sort of kinship to the little guy. It also helped that their name was so similar.

Personality: Strong, sometimes overly so, both physically and emotionally. Stubborn. Slightly spiritual (how often have you heard that before?). Seems to trust people at first, though slightly feminist. Cares for things close to her, but doesn't give two thoughts to everything else.

Items and Equipment: Two potions, a personal water bottle, fanny pack to hold things in. Occasionally has a Protein or Calcium for her and her Pokemon.

Species: Magikarp, Male, Goldy
Level: 10
Ability: Swift Swim
Attacks: Splash, Tackle, Bounce
Notes: One cold day, while swimming in the ocean, Maggie found her little Goldy in the water. She didn't have a Pokeball at the time, so she wrestled the guy out of the water and brought him to Professor Fern. After a few minutes of fin-slapping and the sound of wet scales hitting the wall, both exhausted, Maggie decided to keep him, and he decided to stay with her before Professor Fern gave Maggie the Pokeball. It was magical. Goldy is stupidly stubborn and aggressive to the point of hurting himself.

Name: Carn Teret

Gender: Male

Age: 14

Appearance: Carn has black, wind swept hair and bright blue eyes. His facial features are average, and nothing really stands out. His clothes would be a silver chain, with a red star hanging around his neck, a black jacket with blue stripes on both sides (unzipped). A dark green shirt below the jacket reaches down to his thighs, and his pants are blue wind pants. Wears black and green sneakers.

His build is decent, for a fourteen year old, and not that notable. He doesn't have much fat on him, though his muscles are still developing. About 5'8" in height, and weighs 145 lbs.

Backstory: Came from the Kanto region at age 13 (and a half) looking for adventure. It took half a year for him to reach Chartreuse Town and find Professor Fern. Now he's just looking for the lab, and his new Pokemon.

Personality: Pretty mellow, and doesn't enjoy much human contact. He likes being isolated with Pokemon, other than battling. His humor isn't very humorous, even though he can appreciate a good joke.

He's pretty serious when talking about things, and doesn't take situations lightly. He puts all his thought into battles, and loves Pokemon more than... anything. He wants to become the Champion of the region, but doesn't want the popularity that comes with it. He tries to be alone as much as possibly, and probably will not travel with anyone unless the force it upon him.

He doesn't talk much, other than to his Pokemon and people he likes- which are very few- and when he does talk to someone other than the above, it's very sober. He doesn't like playing around at all, but he enjoys a good adventure.

Items and Equipment: Carries ten potions with him when he starts the quest, as well as some Oran and Pecha berries. He carries necessary food and money. He has five Pokeball's for catching Pokemon, but other than that he doesn't carry much else.

Carries a white Pokedex.

Over six feet tall, very clean and has near perfect posture, a cleanly shaved face, short black hair, bowler hat, dark gray business suit (white dress shirt underneath), large sunglasses that cover most of his face, red tie and a strong smell of cologne.

Backstory: Born in Chartreuse Town, Arthur lived a simple life. He remained there with his first pokemon, Dunsparce until he was around seven. His father got a huge promotion, going to work in Umber City. The big city quite a shock to him. He saw some local gangs hanging out in alleys and decided that they were cool and he wanted to be like them. With all of the money his father was making, he could have whatever he want, and so he did. He would dress up in fancy suits and pretend he was in a mafia or something. After a few years, he became popular (mostly due to being rich) and had his own little gang, which never settled on a name. By this time, he was still only an ameteur trainer, having only his Dunsparce and the Litwick he had picked up. He aspires to lead a huge group and be the most famous and powerful trainer of all time.
Personality: Arthur is very whiny. Being spoiled and used to having everything, he is used to being treated as a king. When things don't go his way, he loses his cool very quickly. He is also very arrogant and ignorant. (like derp sudowoodo is a tree its grass type)
Items and Equipment: Fake gun (makes a BANG and produces smoke and a flash, used for intimidation), briefcase (has six slots for pokeballs), messenger bag (contains a few potions, cures for status ailments and food)
