My homework is due tomorrow!!!!! Christians wanted!!!

Ok, now let me explain. I forgot my notebook, and my homework is due tommorow. I dont know which out of these 2 article i have here that i have to do a "christian perspective paper" on. So i am gunna do one on both. I need a little help to get done in time though. I was just wondering if some of you could offer my some of your christian perspective on why you are AGAINST (because i've already sorta started) the Death Penalty. Any help at all is greatly appreiciated.

Because we believe everyone deserves the gift of life and only allow God to pull the judgement.
And that we'd be just as bad as they are: killing someone.

It's the general idea, so all you have to do is expand it. Really, use logic.

the irony of us christians...
we say everyone deserves to live, but the bible says an eye for an eye...

Old Testament was pretty war-like.
And the New Testament says to turn to peace.

It makes you wonder why God wouldn't tell us earlier...
But that's faith to you.

But I can at least believe we can respect each other and be accepted as others should.

Lol. If it helps, Christianity, if I remember correctly, would stem from Jesus' teachings and his "New Testament" and Gospel. The Old Testament is a precursor to these, for Jesus' is said to come from the same God as the Jewish God.

The difference, from what I've gathered, is that Jews reject Jesus, believing he isn't a true Messiah of God as he claimed, and instead focus on the Old Testament.

So, technically, the right to a fair trial and universal love are all preached in the New Testament (by Jesus, and hence this extends to Christianity), BUT if I remember correctly, "eye for an eye" is stated within the new testament. So the ironic part is still quite true. And "universal love" only extends to the people who believe in God, so technically anyone who doesn't..."have faith" seems to have been told "you can go and burn in Hell for all we (Christians) care".

Also, they say that murder and rape, and all the sins which cause people to suffer the death penalty is "a mortal sin"; a sin where one's soul is like damned or something to that effect. So you could probably expand on that while you're at it. But I forgot all the things religion class taught me last year, so I apologise for being no help at all. ^_^'

And I'm not Christian. so don't take what I say as..."gospel".
