Word Usage
I've been looking up some more common word usage things. Further/farther, affect/effect, etc. Well, it's not exactly the same thing, but still for English. What's the difference between fear/scare and intimidate? I've read the definitions for each word and they seem the same in my opinion.

Re: Word Usage
Scare and Intimidate are similar, but not the same.
Scare implies directly frightening someone. A ghost, for example, scares a person. Intimidation is different. Intimidating someone is threatening them to make them do what you want. So, a mobster would intimidate you into doing his work for him. Fear is not a verb, but a noun. You cannot "fear" someone, but someone can be "afraid" (which is the adjective form of fear.)

Re: Word Usage
yep, some words may mean the same thing but most dont, even though it may seem it does. But sometimes you may be wrong. since sometimes some Adjectives may be mistaken for nouns or verbs.

Re: Word Usage
It's also worth noting that even words with identical meanings tend to not be used in the same place.
"Menacing" and "sinister" are essentially synonymous, but they have different connotations (Er...tone, I suppose) so you'd use them in different places.
