Tips on writing a Document Based Question (DBQ)

Anyone? I'm in AP US History and my teacher just loves to hand these out. Finish one, get another one. I'm not too bad, what with the constant writing of them, but I'd still like some pointers if any have some. Our newest one is on World War I and Wilson's stubbornness with the Treaty of Versailles. I usually go through and decipher the documents first, writing out my thoughts, and then form an argument, but I was always bad at how to place my thoughts out in my actual essay.

Re: Tips on writing a Document Based Question (DBQ)

First off form a thesis as soon as you can before writing. For the intro i suggest giving some background info. Try to hook the reader but don't bore them by dragging it out. Then have a well written thesis. If your thesis is crap your whole DBQ is going to suck. This is what my teacher says and he is one of the graders who grades the AP exam. So anyways your thesis should have three main points (you can have just two and long as your arguement is strong). Than for each body just discuss each point. Don't just throw in info, GIVE YOUR OWN ANALYSIS. Discuss how did it affect the nation's polics, economy society, etc.

Hope that helps.
