Research Help

Next Monday, I am doing a debate. I am supposed to talk about how our government is becoming one where they control us. In my case, I have to discuss how war equals peace. Yet the two contradict each other in their meanings. I can use what evidence I gather to help me in my debate. If you have any suggestions that I can use to further me in my gathering of sources, please say so.
Topic: War is Peace
Deadline: Sunday of next week (December 10, 2006)

Re: Research Help

Well, you might want to read 1984, where the idea of doublethink (War is peace, good is bad, resistance is compliance, etc.) was essentially created.

As for sources, I can't really think of any. This isn't a debate of facts, it's trying to twist concepts around, and there really isn't any source for that that I can think of. However, these links might help:

Re: Research Help

In the sence that the other two topics are "Freedom is Slavery" and "Ignorance is Strength"? Or in a completely non-Orwellian sence? Or a mixture of both?

A copy of 1984 can be had anywhere you can find books. At the end od the Second Part (of three) you will find the main charater reading a book called The Theory and Practice of Oligarchical Collectivism, one of the chapter's is entitled "War is Peace", and that would be a good place to start.
