Gym help

Right? Or not right place? Well, if it's not right, please move it. I need the help here.

Okay. I have a story to share with you. It's about this girl who reads warriors and had a bad year in gym class in the year of 2005-2006 during the handball and speedball (handball and soccer together) units. Okay.

So this girl... is ignored and ran over -- literally -- by her teammates. And the teacher notices and make everyone pass to everyone to even score. And everyone is happy.

And that was me last year. And it's happening again. Same unit, different people. The teacher noticed first class and changed the teams for this class. But the ballhogs are still on my team! Except now there are less people who would pass to me, excluding my friend, the goalie, who can't really pass. Today I was shoved by a teammate, and again, ignored. No one even passed towards me. What's stupid about it is that the biggest ballhog on the team won't pass to me even if I'm the only person open, and right in front of him. Except the teacher didn't notice it today.

So I cried during lunch. But my best friend, sitting next to me, didn't notice I was sad, even though my other two friends were hugging me and trying to cheer me up. Until, of course, my best friend brings up her rabbit. Mine died last week, so it makes it worse, with the pressure of gym, and my best friend not even noticing I'm sad. Some friend..

So, the whole lunch thing is solved already. But gym is my trouble spot. I'm shy and I don't want to tell the teacher about what's going on, and less friends are in my class now! I'm completely lost...

So it's not really help for gym. But it occurs in gym. Which is in school...

Face your fears, that what I do, that kind of thing happends to me, I get forced to do house football, and the captain himself dosen't turn up, these things happen in your school career, next time just say when your open, and if they wont pass, then they will suffer the
consequences when they get the ball taken off them, when that happends say "I was open, you chose not to pass to me" then next time the should pass he ball to you, hope that helps.

I'm very athletic so usually people pass to me but I would recommend trying to show your stuff, play rough get the ball and show their asses that those little homos should've passed.

Right, so this was because Forte says he doesn't like himself. I want him to like himself a bit more.

Re: Gym help

Ahh, that happened to me when I was in primary school.

If you're too shy to take the active approach, then try the passive approach. Basically, if:
A) It really, really matters, the teacher should notice you not participating enough and make them ballhogs pass to you more (or change your unit again). Problem solved.
B) It doesn't really matter, you could just ignore it. As long as you put in your best effort, the ballhogs are not your problem. Yeah, it hurts being ignored, but you have your real friends. It's just a class, don't worry about it!

There is one way, but it is my way! Train. If this reaaaally bothers you then train for it! Practice the sport, go running, work out a bit, its my way of doing things. I cant guarentee immediate results, but after about a week or 4-7 days you should improve! If my advice doesnt help any Im sorry....

Re: Gym help

Happens to me all the tme. I'm a geek. My solution was always to try to prove I deserved the ball. Under any circumstance, DO NOT ACCEPT BEING IGNORED. If you just accept the ball won't get to you, it'll get worse.

Re: Gym help

It really depends on how you feel about the situation. If you feel the need to get the ball then prove yourself. If you can't then practice. If it's not a skill but rather a fitness thing than I recommend getting into shape.

Otherwise, remember that it's just a class you can get over it

Re: Gym help

Imagine that, in the class which you do the best in (and I gether you do well in many) you were suddenly forced to perform at the same level as the least productive, least interested student.

Judging by your public profile, you're 13, which means you have not elected to take the class, but that it is requried. Based on the undertones post, I'm further going to assume that, had you the coice, you wouldn't take PE.

I hate having to come in here and be the realist/chauvinist-male-jock type, but I'm one of those guys who watched some of my classmates play and said "They don't want to be here, they're not acting like they want to be here, why should I pretend they want to be here?"

The class requring you to be something you to be something your not tells you your inadaquette, requring you do something you wouldn't tells you cannot make your own decisions.
The class requring me to play towards your goals (teamwork for social benefit) goals, rather than my own (teamwork for competitive benefit), tells me that I am less important than you. The class, in demonizing my competitive spirit, tells me that my body's natural reaction to adversary is incorrect.

Absolutely no one beneifts from this situation. How could they?

My advice, have as much fun in gym as you can while maintianing your grade level. You cannot fail if your attitude is good. Probably can't do worse then a B, especially if your not naturally sporty. Don't sweat the idiot jocks, don't sweat the lack of playtime. If you don't want to be there, why pretend you do.

Why pretend your something you don't like in the first place?

Re: Gym help

Okay. Nowhere in your post did you mention whether or not you were any good at the game. If you're not, then try to improve your skills. And if you're already decent at the game, then PROVE IT! Don't just let them push you around; if you do that, your remaining time in school is almost certainly going to be miserable. I know that from experience. If they treat you like dirt now, imagine how high school is going to be (and if you're in elementary school then you have junior high gym to suffer through as well). Also, telling the teacher may not always do any good. Try telling your parents about the situation as well.

Re: Gym help

Elec -- I don't know if I'm good. Why? Because I never get the chance to play.

Razekiel -- I'm not in grade school, I'm in eighth grade, almost high school. Go me! And it wasn't just the game, it was the memory of my rabbit that had died and my best friend not noticing how mad/sad I was...

I have gym again tomorrow, so I shall take your advice. =3 Most of it, anyways. I've done some of the things like saying I'm open, and I was ignored.

EDIT: It didn't work. Me and the other two girls on the team backing me up, yelled at the kid who's being the biggest allhog of them all and he just ignored us like we weren't there. =/ Well... I didn't yell, the other two girls on the team did.

I had one of your kind in my class last year.
What helped him simply was that other took notice in him. After that he was great in Gym...

Re: Gym help

Goody! Sorta... Wanna know what happened? Today we were given padomiters, or however you spell it; it counts your steps. Anyways, when handing them out, the teacher said 'you need to make sure everyone is passed to'. My whole team glared at the kid who's causing the main problem. I still wasn't passed to... but the kid did feel guilty.

I'm just happy it's a new unit next class (I think). Maybe it won't happen.

Have to tried telling a parent? Most of the time it's easier because you trust them.
And, if not your parents, the school counselour? In some cases, it's easier to tell an adult you don't know that well, and counselours will more times than not try to help you fix whatever's wrong.

Also, about your 'best friend'...

I had a friend like that. She never seemed to notice whenever I was upset, all she cared about was herself.

Try talking to her, it could help. If it doesn't, then I would attempt to let the friendship go as fast as possible. I know it may be hard, believe me, but you'll be saving yourself a lot of grief.
