Does anyone know a site where I can learn Japanese? I don't know if this belongs on this board, but it seems closely related to it.

i don't know any sites... maybe if you go to google and type it in then you cann probably find a site. that's all i have to say.

I tried that, but alot of virus sites came, Now i'm glad that I have firewall, and I would like it to be legit, I don't want to compliment someone and then later find out I said something very insulting (It's happened before).

Virus sites? Don't think so...

I'd be venturing to guess your computer secutiry software was preventing a simple download, telling you that such "unauthorized content may be harmful to your computer", when it was likely nothing more than a rather essential Kanji/Hiragana/Katakana character set.

Okay, I thought I would end up getting a virus.

I wouldn't try the internet, the free sites are never accurate and if you pay for it you might get your credit card stolen... a friend of mine got a good book for learning Japanese from board or barns and nobles, I can't remember which one but I bet both of them would have it anyway.

http://www.freejapaneselessons.com/ <-- start with this. it'll cover the kanas (hiragana and katakana), a few basic kanji, almst everything about verbs, and a few adjectives. For nouns and indirect statements and such, you'll have to find another source, but these lessons are a good start.
