Please Help. Confused on Social Studies

Can someone please give me a hand. I have a World War I paper I have to write and I am having troubles because I have to underline the fundamental causes and immediate causes, and then I need to write about The Treaty of Versailles and how it affected the world after it was put into place. I also need to establish an opinion because it is a position paper. If anyone knows any good reference sites or has any ideas can you please post. I have to write about to what extent did the Treaty Achieve goals for a peaceful world and I need examples. I don't need answers... i would prefer just a brief idea because there is so much information

President Wilson went to the convention without any representation. He went alone, and then came back saying
Wilson: this is a great treaty, guys. It's got my 14 points in it, you just need to sign it.
Congress: Did you take anyone with you? Republicans? Democrats? Senators?
Wilson: Uh. No
Congress: Well let's look at it. Hmmm. it looks dumb. It's a no-go

Wilson then tried to get the american people to ratify it, and they wouldn't. It failed.

That's the summed up version.

I dont know much about WWI but I do know a little about the treaty of versailles, Here i go.

After the germans surrendered the french and americans organized the treaty of versailles to prevent the germans from starting another war. It entitled the following-

1. the germans were ordered to minimize their army to 100,000 troops (it may seem like alot but it really isnt, most armies have about 500,000 to a million and higher).

2. germans were ordered to switch their Govt. to the wiemar republic.

3. they also had to pay ALOT of cash it think it was 1-2 million, in war fines.
