Someone help an 8th grader like me with math!

Can any one help me with my math? I need help because I'm taking a retake test on a test that I failed (and other eighth graders like me) but I have no clue what to do or how to make it easier for me. I need help with probability, exoerimental probability, and theortical probability.

Can anyone help me do an easier way of solving problems like those? I have a lot of trouble solving those kinds. If anyone could, I would be happy and apreisiate and I will do anything to make it up to anyone if they help me!

I shall help . What ya having trouble with. I just got through that chapter, though don't trust me completly cause i have no clue what i got on my test.

Gaw! *hits head on desk* I got an D on that test because I have trouble with probability, expeimental probabilitiy and the theoretical probability! I need some one who knows math well and gets A's in that class...

And if I ask my dad he would make things worse...

I usually get Cs and Bs, and sometimes an A can be found.

I'll help you what do you need. I'm doing probability in 9th. We're doing things like x/20= 30/60 solve for x. Only they're a little harder.

I'm in ninth, and when I read what you were having problems with, all I saw was "blah, blah, blah". If you even know what those mean, you're a lot better off than I am...

*Bows repeatedly* Yes, yes, please help me! I'm having major trouble with probabilities and I need to bring up my math grade since I always get an A in that class!

Oh... well.... I still need help! I stink at this kind of math! Anything else I'm really good in an I can ace but not these!

1. A six-sided die is rolled 250 times. Six comes up 72 times. Give a theoretical probability of rolling a six and a experimental probability of rolling a six?

2. Katie tossed the cap of a bottle of Dr. Pepper 350 times. The cap landed on its side 15 times. It landed on its bottom 200 times. It landed on its top 125 times. What is the probability that the capo will land on its bottom on the next toss?


My teacher said that these problems will be on the test only the numbers will be different and I have trouble with these kinds of things. ^^;

Well... I'm in Beginning Algerbra and I'm having trouble with this kind of stuff. -.- And Rx.cl0ne you got 1 right but number 2 you got wrong. It's 57% and I know that because my math teacher told me to write down the answer so I can study, but I still have no clue how to do those kinds of problems.

six sided die whats probably ur going to get a six 1 out of 6 times =1/6
six already came up 72 times out of 250= 72=250 then sent them = to each other.
1/6 = 72/250

1. Theoretical probability is what in theory should happen. Basically an educated guess. The die is not weighted, so each side has an equal chance of being on top. So theoretically, 1 out of every 6 times the die is rolled, a 6 should be face up.

Based on the experiment, however, a 6 should be rolled 72 out of every 250 rolls, or rather, 36 out of every 125 rolls. Simplifying is always important.

2. This one is a bit more difficult...but I'll try it. Nevermind, it's still pretty easy.

Just take 200 * 1/350 * 100 to get it. Or, 200 divided by 350 and multiplied by 100, if you don't understand how I wrote it. So you do it like this:

200/350 = 0.571428...
0.57 * 100 = 57%

But then again, I learned this in 7th grade...seems I learn something new daily. I thought that we here in Georgia weren't as good as other places...

Is this a well enough explanation? I've never had below an A in Math, but I'm not so good at teaching. Learning is much easier for me.

Oh... I see now.. Thank you Ascalion! ^^ I think I understand it better now. That's a good thing because now I have this fresh in mind so when I take the test tomorrow I can ace it! Thank you sooo much! What can I do to make it up to someone who's helped me out greatly?

just take what you want... such as # o' times a cap lands on its side and put it over how ever many total things there are ... such as the # o' flips.

Our teacher is always drumming into us the importance of tree diagrams - they wouldn't actually help in the examples you gave, but they are pretty useful in some circumstances. I finished with Statistics last year, though - by now I've probably forgotten all about it! Normal distribution, Poisson distribution, hypothesis testing and errors - ugh!
