Multiplying Rational Expressions

Okay, so I get a lot of these problems correct. This is the only problem I'm stuck on:

-2n ∙ 7n+7

7(n+2) ∙ n+1

In case you're wondering since the forum messes it up, that problem is -2n over 7(n+2) multiplied by 7n+7 over n+1.

Now, I'm looking at it right now and saying "Doesn't 7n+7 factor?" But would you factor it first? I've gotten it this far:

-2n(7n+7)
___________
(7n+14)(n+1)

I multiplied 7(n+2) from the original problem out and got the first bottom term if you're wondering.

The answer in the back of the book says -2n over n+2, but I do not know how to get that answer.

You didn't really simplify the expression:
The original expression is:

_-2n(7n + 7)__
7(n + 2)(n + 1)

7n + 7 has a factor of 7 in it, so it can be expanded into 7(n + 1). Your expression is now:

_-2n(7)(n + 1)_
7(n + 2)(n + 1)

Since 7 and n + 1 are in both the numerator and the denominator, they cancel, leaving:

_-2n_
n + 2

I covered that in the eighth grade, but it's been a while since I've done it. (I'm in 9th)
