Need help for a research paper

Alright. I'm doing a two-page research paper on my science project. Basically it's just researching on my topic subject and the science behind it.

I'm doing my science fair project on which permanent marker lasts the longest on an Electric Guitar or Electric Bass. I'm basically dealing with signatures on them and other sorts, so I basically just gave myself half of the paper from just that.

What I'm having trouble with is what exactly am I going to research for the science behind the experiment? I'm just drawing a blank here on where exactly to look for this kind of information about permanent markers. I just want someone to point me in the right direction for this.
