What is a clan?

In ZU, there are three clans: Din (Power), Farore (Courage) and Nayru (Wisdom). Each clan has their own clan forum. Posts doesn't count in a clan due to the nature of the threads in there.

Is it a good idea to join a clan?

I would say so. The clans are closed groups where the rules are slightly more lenient than outside the clan boards. There are also the clan games, where the three clans compete against each other. All in all, the clans are much fun.

Do I have to? I don’t wanna!

Then don’t do it . Clans are optional to join. It’s just a fun thing to do.

How do I join a clan?

First of all, you must’ve been a member at ZU for one month, and also have fifty(50) posts. This is to make sure you just don’t get into a clan and then go inactive. Second, you send a request by PM to either Awkin, Tiroth, Aex, Aeffles or DekuQueen. about taking the clan test. Once you’ve taken the test, you will be placed in one of the clans. Only send the request to one moderator at a time.

I want to be in the X Clan. Is there a specific moderator I should send the test to so I'm sure to get into the clan I want?

No, there is not. The names above are only coloured to show of that specific mod's clan alignment. It does not mean they automatically place you in their own clan.

I don’t know much about Zelda, can I still take the clan test?

Yes, the clan test has little to do about Zelda. There is one Zelda-related question, but even then you really don't have to know anything about Zelda to answer it. Improvise if stuck.

Can I fail the test?

Yes. If your clan test grader finds your answers a bit lacking, he/she will send you a second test to take for another try at clan membership. If the second test is still unsatisfactory, you must wait a month before requesting the test again.

What happens if I get an even score between two clans?

Then you'll first of all get the second test. If there's still not enough material to place you in a specific clan, you'll probably get the option to pick for yourself.

I’ve asked for the test/sent in my answers but haven’t received an answer! Why?

Most likely, the person you sent the request to hasn’t seen it yet. Have patience . If you don’t get an answer in a week, you can send a new PM asking why.

I’ve sent in my request for a test/answers, and now it's been weeks without a reply. The mod isn't answering to my PM's! Whatever shall I do?

First of all, send your answers to another moderator. Then, send a PM to the first moderator, telling them (politely!) that you grew tired of waiting and turned to someone else. Keep in mind that this is something done when you've waited for a long time, and not if it's only been a day since you sent in your answers the first time.

Alright, so I got the test, now what?

Now you answer the questions according to your own beliefs. Follow the directions given to you on the test, and answer the questions as openly and as truthfully as possible, so that the grader can get a good idea of where to place you.

Right, I've answered the questions. Now what?

Well, you send the questions to the person who gave you the test. Then you sit back and wait until you get a reply back with information on what clan you got into. By the same time, you'll gain your clan banner and access to your clan's secret forum.

I’m in a clan, but I can’t see the Clan Board!

Again, have patience. After your test got corrected and you got informed on your clan, the results were forwarded to a supermoderator or an admin who will put you in your clan. Sometimes you get there instantly, while at other times the S.mod/Admin have a life and can't put you in a clan right away. Patience is key. If you have been able to see the Clan Board, but now can't, contact an admin and ask for help.


I don't like this clan anymore, can I swap to another?

Before even considering a clan swap, we ask that you spend at least one month in your first clan. In general, clan swapping is frowned upon by the mods, and you need a very good reason for wanting to swap, and should it come to pass, you'll only be able to swap once. Think it through before you request to be moved, you will not get a second chance.

It is possible to be removed from the clans all together, all you need to do is send a moderator a PM asking for it. However, it'd work just like if you swapped clans, and you would not be able to take the test to join another clan. It is not a loophole! Also, if you're tired of your clan, you could just stop visiting it, instead of asking for removal.

I got a question, but it doesn't affect me.

What happens if a mod doesn't answer the PM with your questions in a week and you have pm'd them about it? Let's say they haven't answered it again. COULD we possibly PM another mod about this, or should we continue to wait?

If you've sent the answers to one mod, but fail to get an answer in quite some time, send the answers to another mod on the list. Make sure to send a PM to the first mod as well, explaining what you've done.

I seen most of these problems in the last Clans FAQ. Most of the mods wouldn't reply back so members didn't know what to do. I told them just to PM another mod that's on more often. *cough*SD*cough*

That's because you regular Clanners usually get to it before us mods can. Once the question has already been answered, there's no point in doing it again.

Josh, you've already contacted several mods on this matter. Stop it. Nagging the staff won't give you the test.

Mods also have the power to not give the clan test or perform name changes for members at their discretion.
Pissing them off won't make things any faster.
Mods are humans, not your slavebots - don't treat them as such.

But none of that matters, since, if you look at the FAQ;

Looks like you won't be allowed to have the clan test after all, seeing as you wanted a removal.

That should make it much clearer - you can swap a clan, but never be allowed to swap again.
Similarly, once you are removed from a clan, you can not enter another one again. The "you would not be able to take the test to join another clan" part makes that very clear.
As for the PMs, you try dealing with best part of 50 PMs a day. SOmethings get dealt with quicker than others.

Well, if we let people leave their clan, only to retake the test and end up in another clan, it'd be just like swapping clans, wouldn't it? And people would use it as a loophole. "I don't like this clan any more, I'm dropping out!" <One month passes> "I want to be in a clan, can I have the clan test, plz?" Repeat until your eyes fall out.

Of course. But might special considerations be made if, say, someone had personal reasons for wishing to be out of a clan for a while, then wanted to rejoin a considerable amount of time later?

Though, you could just tell them to avoid that area of the forums.

Of course, exceptions can always be made if there's a good enough reason behind it. But don't take it for granted if you plan on dropping out.

So your saying if someone droped out of a clan and wanted to come back to his/her old one they can right? But What would be a good enough exception to allow them back. Lol. Im not saying this for me just wanted to know what would happen to that person.

Are Dinnies one extreme (power-hungry, crazy) and Jellyfish another (peace-loving, calm)? Are Farorans a balance between the two?

No. It's not like in the game. Farore is crazy. From what I've gathered Dinnies are random (As well as farorians) and are not as good with sigs and kinda smart. Nayrus are nice and awesome just like all of the clans. All of 'em are good and there's no best clan.
