Din, Farore, and Nayru Meaning
Please forgive me if I posted this in the wrong place, and if I did please mods feel free to move it.
Anyways, I was just reading a book and saw the word din written somewhere. So that gave me the idea to post a thread here and give the meaning of all the clans. So, here they are: Din = Thesarus: loud noise Dictionary: a jumble of loud, usually discordant sounds. Farore = no definition in either dictionary or thesarus. Nayru = no definition in either dictionary or thesarus. If you can find the meanings somewhere to Farore and Nayru, that would be wonderful. The dictionary nor thesarus shed no light on either of them. Post your thoughts here, saying if you think Farore and Nayru really have meaning or if they're just nice words. In the poll above, if it doesn't have an answer like yours, please post your answer here. Or if you just think a certain one has meaning, also post it here.

I think they have meaning in Japanese, but in English:
Far: Distant Ore: Rock that contains enough of one or more metals to be worth processing to obtain the pure metal or metals Nay: No Ru: Nothing in dictionary |

That's true. I think somewhere there's a place you can translate Japanese to English, so I might go try to find that.

I'm kinda confused. The Thread implies meaning for all three but the poll only asks about Nayru and Farore. Is is about all three?

Well sort of. Since Din has a meaning, I just simply asked in the poll if everybody thinks the other two (Farore, Nayru) have meaning to either you or if they have a public meaning.

Well... I always thought that Nayru and Farore meant Love and Courage in hylian. Also, Din must have ment power but we all know that a jumble of loud, usually discordant sounds fits dinnies much better.
![]() I checked the google Japanese to english translator but got nothing. But that's just a beta so... I'm not sure.

But you'd have to google the Japanese in Japanese characters, and it would be difficult since there are probably kanji involved.

Next time we have a Japanese exchange student staying at our house, I'll ask them.
When feeding "Din" through a translator (first English, then French, then Greek, and back to English), I got the word: Pandemonium Farore and Nayru didn't translate.

I always thought they were just names. Sure "Din" has another meaning in English, but so does "Link" and "Shiek." Nayru and Farore are just names.
And I think this thread belongs in the N64 section, though. Not sure.[/rent-a-modding] |

I checked freedict.com. I fouhd nothing. So, i think they're just names. (oh by the way, freedict.com is a website that translates Japanese to English. Ex: Type in katana in the Japanese to English section and your result will be sword.)
Edit: My number of posts is the same as a leap year! Woot!

Has anyone ever thought it was just names? A name like Christopher, Amanda, Matthew, or Gregory?

![]() But "Nayru" isn't really Japanese, anyway. There's no "ay" in the language. Does anyone know what the original form is? Actually, there's no "fa" either. |

You really can't be sure if the goddess names actually mean anything. Some things have meanings and some don't. Like I don't think Hyrule means anything, unless it's pun or something I'm not aware of, but Termina is a wordplay on 'Terminate' like how it'll be destroyed.
Anyway about some possiblilities about remember Zelda feels regret for causing the problems in OoT but then helps to stop it and Ganondorf causes problems and therefore 'pandemonium'?
