Women in Poltics

I am writing an arguement paper about women in american politics and the gender bias they face.... I have seen from my research that europeans seem to elect more women to government/ leadership positions and I am wondering why that is. Do they face less obscles, or belief that a womens place is in the home/ taking care of her family first, or is it the set up of the government/ parties that work in their favor. If you have any thoughts, ideas please write back!

Well, I dont know much being British, but looking at America as a foreigner I think it is a much more traditional country than those in Europe in terms of its cultural values. I think in many ways this makes it a better society, but I think in some respects it might lead to things like gender discrimination.

Personally, I believe women to be more rational and better judges of character. When it comes to things like politics they do seem to better present them selves than men do.

I don't believe it has anything to do with old fashion values but more to the point that women CAN do the same jobs as men. Better even.

From what I know of women in government, they do a DAMN fine job. ^_^

I don't think there is much gender discrimination in the US today. Women serve and have served in every position in politics, except for president. I think the general lack of women in politics is due to a lack of interest. That can very easily be disputed, but I see very few women who even try to run for president, which is why it's a big deal that Hilary is running. That's my personal opinion.

Like prostitution.

I'M KIDDING, I'm kidding.

Anyway, the way I see it, it appears that women seem to have an equal shot in politics nowadays. A great number of women feature prominently in politics, including one that has a fathomable shot at being president of the United States. Even here in America's heartland we have a female senator here and there. There are more males in politics than females, but if anything that has to do with gender roles or other things rather than outright discrimination. I could see where people might think of a man as more "presidential" or whatnot than a woman, which might make for a slight bit of difficulty for a female candidate, but I belief such a problem is rather negligible, and ought to go away with time.
