Straight line is true only when you are on a flat surface. If you are on a sphere, you might as well conisder a striaght line going around it.

Also, when you are on a extra super large object (Earth), you cannot go straight through. Making a straight line the ultimate fastes.

Two of the nearest stars to earth are Sirius (8.7 light years away) and wolf (7.7 light years away.)
Sirius is moving towards earth at 8km per second and Wolf is moving away from us at 13km per second.
when wolf has traveled one light year, what will be the closest star to earth?

The sun is clostet to earth, and unless Sirius hits our solar system, I think it's goin to stay like that for a while
