Anyone know this answer

My friend gave me this riddle to solve and he said if I figure it out I get a prize. I thought the answer was 70 but it wasn't.

There are 7 girls on a bus
Each girl has 7 backpacks
Each back back has 7 big cats
and in each big cat there is 7 little cats.

How many legs are there?

This one's tricky, you need to read it carefully

14 legs from seven girls + 1372 legs from big cats (there are 49 backpacks with 7 big cats in each, for a total of 343 big cats) + 9604 legs from small cats.

So about 10990 legs altogether, if I'm right, unless the answer involves some pun about having a leg to stand on or something like that.

It didn't say it was a moving bus. Or perhaps one of the girls was driving the bus. Or it was a peg-legged pirate driver.

They'd still be legs. Maybe they were on a school bus with like 7 guys with 7 backpacks with like 7 big cats or something.

A bus would not contain that many "big cats" which contain "little cats." Therefore, the "big cats" and "little cats" are patterns on these backpacks.

The girls just have an exorbitant amount of bags, as can be expected from girls.

There are two, it's actually just Hello Kitty drawing a cartoon of these girls which happen to fly out the bus window just leaving her there.

Actually, it doesn't specify the species of the girls. If they are snake girls, they could add up to having no legs at all.

The size of the bus is unimportant. It could be like the TARDIS, and bigger on the inside than the outside. Same with the backpacks.

Ok, what is sad is that last week my co workers and I were trying to solve this.

I ended up getting the riddle right, and I had to explain the answer to everyone.

It was *seriously* like a scene out of The Office. Going back and forth, trying to make the points about what's what, and why we each got the number of legs we did...

Linkkenzo, just tell your friends you went and asked the wrong people, and you now have about 40 different answers, and the total is always rising...

Still, this riddle got an interesting collection of mods and the webmaster. ALmost EVERYONE who replied was a mod XD
