So this science fair is coming up.......

So i nmy school a science fair is coming up and i need some ideas on what to do for it. I am in 8th grade if that helps you see where my project level should be around. And just incase you were wondering the idea does not count as a grade so none of you will really be 'doing' much of the project for me (only reason i say this is that in the past people wouldn't answer my question because they thought that they would be doing all the work)

Here's a couple with plants:

Do plants grow faster with music? (Control: no music, hypothesis: Rock style and Hypothesis: classical)

Or

Do plants grow better if we talk to them nicely? (Control: Sweet talk) (Hypothesis: Mean talk)

Oh, there's all sorts of things you could do.

First though, what things are you interested in? It's easier to do a project on something you're interested in.

ummmmm.....well lets say something moling, or mechanics

As for mechanics, how about building something solar powered? Or maybe a project on why perpetual motion machines can't work (that might be a bit advanced.), Perhaps look at how airplanes work? (If you do that, beware of websites that say it has to do with more air going under the wing because the distance is shorter, that's not true.) Perhaps you could build your own simple motor? Power a car using citrus fruits?

There are quite a few options, really.

My brother is doing which carpet cleaner works best. It's fun because you get to make a mess for science!

But there are many "classics"
Mice in a maze
Memory experiments
Dog training
plant growth based on soil/fertilizer/amount of sunlight

There really are many, many possibliities. Intrested in mechanics? How about powering your car with a hamster?

I meant to say maybe molding something above. I have got to ask a question before the project like, what i think will happen, if that makes sense to anyone.....

Yep, state a hypothesis.

So, mechanics and molding aren't going to work, then.

Is there anything you're curious about? Biology? Physics? Chemistry? Psychology? Anything in any way related to any of those?

Last year in 7th grade I did an experiment on how the color of birdseed affects how much of it is eaten. I used green, red and blue food colored birdseed in seperate contaiers and placed it where other animals couldn't get it. It actually won first place in our class.

I made a Radio with 3 pennies in my science fair. made a crystal radio, it needs no power, and the materials can all be home-made or at least found around the house.

Requirements

-Three shiny pennies
You can clean them up with polish, or you can use brand new ones.

-A tuning coil
You can wind one by hand, but in this project You should use a much smaller coil with a ferrite rod inside.

-An MK484-1 AM Radio Integrated Circuit
This is the heart of the radio

-A tuning capacitor
perferably use a variable capacitor from 0 to 160 picofarads

-A 100,000 ohm resistor

-A 0.01 microfarad capacitor

-Two 0.1 microfarad capacitors

-A 1.5 volt battery

Make one of those things with the balls that go back and forth forever, those are hard to make.

Or, do what I did, I just built a solar powered car for my Physics thing, that was fun.

Or, build one of those Electromagnetic Trains and explain how it works. That would be a challenge.

OR! If you really want to impress people, learn to defy gravity.
