The World's Hardest Riddle

I saw this in a bulletin on myspace, and I can't figure out what it is. I guess I'm just stupid. Can anyone figure it out? Or is it just a hoax?

Quote:
The World's Hardest Riddle
Body: The World's Hardest Riddle

I turn polar bears white
and I will make you cry.
I make guys have to pee
and girls comb their hair.
I make celebrities look stupid
and normal people look like celebrities.
I turn pancakes brown
and make your champane bubble.
If you sqeeze me, I'll pop.
If you look at me, you'll pop.
Can you guess the riddle?

97% of Harvard graduates can not figure this riddle out, but 84% of kindergarten students were able to figure this out in 6 minutes or less. Can you guess the riddle? Just repost this bulletin with the title "The World's Hardest Riddle", and then check your inbox. You'll get a message with the correct answer in it AND TRUST ME IT WAS THE MOST SIMPLEST THING U WOULDNT HAVE GUESSED

Well judging by the last line of the "riddle," the answer would be "no." It explains why Harvard students, or college students in general, would find this difficult and why kids would not. Kids would simply answer the last question but most "adults" would be analyzing it to "find" the answer.

Yeah, that's the first thing that came to my mind too Besides, the "riddle" just had too many lines and criteria. Very tricky.

I was thinking reflections for a minute. Reflections of the snow make polar bears white, and make girls want to comb their hair, and make celebs look stupid. But that doesn't fit everything, so I'd say no.

I started last night and I'm up to level 10.

The feeling you get after figuring one of those out is like crack or something.

wait a minute! if the answer to the riddle is "no", and if someone guesses that "no" is the answer, then the answer to the riddle for that guy would be "yes", because he was able to guess it, making it a wrong answer, and then it becomes a paradox...

The only way to avoid it is to say that "no" isn't the answer to the riddle, it's just the answer to the last question, and then all those kindergarten students couldn't find the answer to the riddle either, just the answer to the last question... pfff...

I think the correct answer to the riddle is: "something"....yep, something makes me have to pee, and something pops when I squeeze it, and something makes polar bears white... however I'm using a different something in every sentence.

No, the riddle isn't trying to find something that fits all those criteria, because it doesn't ask you to find something that fits all the criteria. If it did, it would ask "What am I?" Instead, it asks "can you guess the riddle," and that's the only question it asks. The riddle has nothing to do with the previous statements, only the last question, to which the answer is simply "no."

There's no paradox involved.

Actually the answer would be "yes", as you can actually guess the answer to the riddle, but you probably won't get it right...

Actually, I've seen this before. The answer is "nothing." The last line is to confuse you, and is not actually part of the riddle. Most little kids will say nothing is the answer, but Harvard grads will keep on trying to find an answer.

The last question alone only asks if you can guess the riddle, not correctly guess the answer...by that alone, one would have to say "yes" is the answer. However, what does "guess the riddle" really even mean? They're not asking you to guess THE ANSWER to the riddle. I'm confused out of ambiguity.

It's a legitimate riddle IMO, so I think there's a real answer. It'll have me stumped for a while though!

The answer is "no" because you can't guess the answer. You can guess an answer, but the article the implies that there is a single right answer, which there isn't.

Also, xxxmidnaxxx, the answer isn't "nothing."

Can you guess the answer to the riddle?
Nothing.

That doesn't even makes sense. The answer "nothing" is the answer to a different riddle. The one about "The poor have it, the rich need it, if you eat it you'll die, ect....."

I would say that the way they use the word guess, that the answer is 'yes'.
Anyone can indeed guess what the answer is.
If they had said, can you answer this riddle?, then it would be 'no'.

I think this is what the whole thing is talking about. The reason "smarter" people couldn't figure it out is because of all this literal thinking, a little kid is just like, "no, I can't figure it out" or, "No it's nothing". It can't be yes, according to the logic everyone's using around here, that the fact that they guessed it as no, makes it yes, is an answer a little kid would never think of. Hmm?

But you know, xXxMidnaxXx is right. The answer is nothing. Determined it's "yes" or "no"? Google it. It's a classical riddle, I remember it from Primary School, or at least some version, they're all the same. People used to say it to other people. There are many versions. One like "all poor people have it, all rich people need it, if you eat it, you'll die." And so on. Think about it, if you were a 5 year old, and someone spoke that riddle to you, I personally would say nothing, wouldn't you?

There's no paradox involved.
I believe a paradox is involved here, and Roc Lee is correct. By answering the last question with "no", then you are in turn solving the riddle, creating a paradox between two answers of "yes" and "no".
