If a problem says -5x4 is the awnser 20 or -20? Thanks for any help!!

erm. No. -5 x 4 = -20. a positive number times a negative number makes a negative number. a negative times a negative makes a positive number, -4 x -4 = 16

Although I don't think it is even valid for negatives, what you're thinking of redlink is something like 4!, which is the same as 4 x 3 x 2 x 1

Kokrikid's right, you know. It's 20. - x - = +, + x + = +. And + x - = -, - x + = -.
