Re: [eng]brackets
Ok well, this is where you summon the tutors, but they all seemed to have dissappered (apart from the almighty Merc
).Umm I think it depends what you are trying to do: eg. I want to get a drink (water is best). <---- On the outside. I want to get a drink (I think that water is best.). <----- Both. Yeah, I suppose that you can't really hold me responsible if I'm wrong but if you only want a few words in the brackets than there is no need for proper sentence grammer therefore the fullstop is placed at the end of the sentence (outside of the brackets). But, if there will be a sentence or two inside the brackets then they will follow normal grammatical structures and a full stop will be placed at the end of each one, thus landing you with one inside the brackets. However this does not mean that you disregard the one outside. It is still placed there too. They are not the same as quotation marks. umm yeah, hope I've helped ![]()

Re: [eng]brackets
I use parentheses in my posts a lot. Here's some basic examples:
- I eat food (mostly pizza and pie). In this one, the parentheses have no punctuation within them. The punctuation goes outside of it, to end the sentence. - I eat food (mostly pizza and pie), every day. In this one, there is no punctuation within the parentheses, and the comma is put in. Forgot why. ^^ - (Anything) anything else This is incorrect grammar. There is no time ever that parentheses are used at the beginning of a sentence. If you show me one, you're a better person than I. ^^ - I eat food (mostly pizza and pie), but only when I'm hungry. Same as the period. The punctuation goes after the parenthesis. - I eat food (Pizza and pie are what I usually eat.). This is a weird situation, and is not correct here. Very rarely, if ever, is a full sentence used in parentheses. You would usually make a new sentence, or combine the two. Helpful (I hope). ^^
