Original Idea Board/Card game!

Hey, To be able to enter the School that I want to go to this Fall, I need to design and make an Original/Revolutionairy Board or Cardgame.. Does anyone have ANY idea what I could try? I was thinking of something about Mythological creatures, or Egypt. Both interest me, But I don't know what to make of them.. Help please! I want to enter that school!

Hey, just so you know, if someone gives you an idea, and you take it, its not really your game, it would be the guy's game who gave you the idea for the game you were "creating"

But anyway, i don't really care if someone takes my ideas so:
If you're into mythology and Egypt.... then why don't you do egyptian mythology?
You know, Ra, Ma'at, Horus, Osiris, Isis, etc. etc.
You could make it kinda like Yu-Gi-Oh
Or it could be a board game.

Heh, thats already taken. Its called "Age of Mythology". And yes, it's both a board and cp game.

Hm. Yea I know that using the Idea's of others isn't the best thing to do, but still. I'm totally out of inspiration ^^'. I might make a mixture of Age of Mythology and Yugioh, and make it a card game. Different than Yugioh on most levels, but still a bit alike.

What type of school are you trying to get into? Toy school?

How about an electornic board game, you use simple controllers to move these pieces around, and an automatic dice, you could use an already existing game, just say monoply, and tweak it with electronics and noises.

Well, it's for a school that lets you make games, for pc/console. but since you can't make a fullscale game, they somehow decided that making a board game or a card game is good enough for them to see if you're qualified.

Anyway, I was thinking of this. At the start of the game you pick which God you want to represent. Egyptian, Norse or Greek God. You get the deck of the God you pick (20 cards), and there is also a Main deck, with cards that have nothing to do with Gods.

The Goals of the game are to defend your own city, while trying to destroy the city of the enemy (AoM). There are 5 different kind of cards that help you acchieve these goals.

- Faith Cards (Needed to Summon Creatures.)
- Creature Cards (Usually servants of the God that you picked. Attempts to destroy the city of the enemy, unless the enemy also has a Creature on the battlefield.)
- Manpower Cards (Needed to Activate Weapons, infantry. Can also attack the enemy, but are weaker than creatures.)
- Weapon Cards (Weapons, Infantry, can attack the enemy, but are weaker)
- Defense Cards (Used to make your own city stronger. there are 5 Slots which can be filled with cards like that.)

This is how it'd look, sort of;



It's a mixture of the Pokemon cardgame (Adding energy (faith+manpower) to be able to summon/attack with whatever you want to use), Yugioh (Attacking the energy points of the enemy when noone is out to defend it, and fighting whatever comes between you and those points), and Age of Mythology (Defending your city, using Gods, Creatures)

Hmm, nice. THat's actually a good idea. Wow, and you said you had no inspiration!
But, what about the graveyard, or afterlife, or whatever youw ant to call the place where used cards go?

Hm, havent thought of that... Maybe It should just be a discard pile.. I mean, graveyard is too much yugioh-ish, you know? Plus I'd have to make more cards, used to possibly revive creatures that got killed.. Not sure about it yet!. Will write a list with the summon..able..creatures of each god soon!

Ok, each deck (Per God) will have 20 cards. It's a small game, has to be. It will have the following cards.

- 6 Creature Cards (That you can Summon. they will require alot of faith to summon, so you can usually send only a few Creatures out to battle before running out of Faith cards. Use them wisely! summon multiple weak ones with less faith, or one Strong one with almost all faith?)
- 10 Faith Cards (Put those next to the creature that you want to summon! have enough? put it in battle! Strong creatures use more faith, thus making it so that you can only summon 1 or so every game)
- 7 Defense Cards (Used to boost your City! Unlike the ones of the main deck, these are only available to the God that you pick.)

The main deck will have 30 cards.

- 8 Weapon Cards (Such as Infantry, Magic Weapons, Long Range weapons, the works!)
- 15 Manpower Cards (Used to charge the Weapons!)
- 7 Defense Cards (Universal cards, boost the city, though not as effective as the God ones.)

You decide who picks which deck at the start of the game (tossing for it), when it's your turn, you can either pick a God Card, or a card from the Main Deck. Once you attack, or if you can't attack and finish your turn, the other player starts. Once a creature dies, all cards are discarded (meaning both the creature and it's faith cards.) . If the players run out of cards and the battle is not finished, they can reshuffle the MAIN deck. God cards are one time use only.

Soon Ill edit this again and add the creatures per God! What do you think of my idea? Any suggestions?

Cool, now you just need to lay down some rules (only use __ number fo faith cards per turn, or whatever) create your game board, cards, etc. etc. Also, do certain creatures have certain abilities, like Yu-Gi-Ogh?
