Re: English assignment help
Are you supposed to be specific on which war? Or just war in general? Whichever one it is. In this particular dilemma, I'd advise using one of many God's gift to man...Google.

Re: English assignment help
I don't know that much poems/songs about war, but here is one, In Flanders Fields. And you might want to spell English right too.
In Flanders Fields By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918) Canadian Army IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow Between the crosses row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. |

Re: English assignment help
Dude right ok I totally did this for my A-level so thier not going to expect u 2 kick too much ass i assume, Ok So first off its not a specific War right>
Ok Lets grab sum Old Books *Runs to shelf* My god its Midnight-ish far to late for this! Ok So, the book im using is Up The Line To Death a collection of War Poets from 1914-1918. Ok Songs about War wtf.. Whats a song about War? Well If u want a new age song My Chemical Romance> Ghost Of You, While its not strictly about War thats the theme of the video, and you can explain it as follows. Lines such as "And all the things that you never ever told me And all the smiles that are ever gonna haunt me" show and explore the feelings of people back home during war time. They were left at home wondering if they would ever see thier loved ones again. The Smiles that haunt them, are the faces of the loved ones that they may never see again. Ok So yeah abit weak on the Song section, but i can totally get you some amazing poems. Lets start with a famous one: The Dug-Out By Siegfried Sasson Why do you lie with your legs ungainly huddled, And one arm bent across your sullen, cold, Exhausted face? It hurts my heart to watch you, Deep-shadowed from the candle's guttering gold; And you wonder why I shake you by the shoulder; Drowsy, you mumble and sigh and turn your head . . . . You are too young to fall asleep for ever; And when you sleep you remind me of the dead. Ok a couple of obvious things you can say about this is the line "You are to Young to fall asleep for ever; > Talking about Young Soliders who lied thier way into the army. It says fall asleep forever> it means death. Forever could also be seen as describing the war itself as it seems to go on and on etc. Also the line Sullen, Cold> Powerful Imagery. Ok So thats That one. I really do know how well u want these described cause if i give u 2 much detail and ur too young it will be completly obvious you didnt do it. No offence ment by that friend i just dont want u 2 get in trouble. Ok Next Poem Dulce et decorum est By Wilfred Own. Bent double, like old beggars under sacks, Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge, Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs And towards our distant rest began to trudge. Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind; Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots Of tired, outstripped Five-Nines that dropped behind. Gas! GAS! Quick, boys! -- An ecstasy of fumbling, Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time; But someone still was yelling out and stumbling And flound'ring like a man in fire or lime . . . Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light, As under I green sea, I saw him drowning. In all my dreams, before my helpless sight, He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning. If in some smothering dreams you too could pace Behind the wagon that we flung him in, And watch the white eyes writhing in his face, His hanging face, like a devil's sick of sin; If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs, Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues, -- My friend, you would not tell with such high zest To children ardent for some desperate glory, The old lie: Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori. Ok So first of the name Dulce et Decorum est, is latin for .. How sweet it is to die for ones country, OR sumthing along those lines. So yeah basically its mocking that ideal. It would be sweet to die for ones country if ones country didnt put u in this position. So its mocking the whole ideal of war etc. The Gas attack is frantically worded and rightly so to give the proper effect. Ok and now its late and im tired So goodnight and i hope that helped.
