Loci
I have a math problem I'm stuck on. I'll give you exactly what it says.
CRITICAL THINKING - Draw line segment AB. Then sketch and describe the locus of points on the paper that satisfy the given condition. 18. the locus of points Q such that Triangle QAB is an isosceles triangle with base Segment AB

Re: Loci
it's the perpendicular line that passes through the midpoint (it has a name, but I only know it in spanish...), just remove the midpoint itself...
edit: I'm not sure of this: I think it's name is perpendicular bisector... so it would be the perpendicular bisector without the midpoint of AB. Last edited by Rock lee; 02-28-2006 at 07:45 PM. |

Re: Loci
Which midpoint? The midpoint of the base? 0-o

Re: Loci
yes, the locus does not include the midpoint of the base (it wouldn't be a triangle), but all the other points in the perpendicular bisector are part of it...
in the diagram, draw the perpendicular bisector (I really hope that's its name), and a little white circle in the midpoint of AB (this white circle means the midpoint is not included, it has to be very small)... by the way... was it the locus of points on the paper, or the locus of points on the "plane"? (I hope the same with this word).... it sounds a little weird, that paper thing. Last edited by Rock lee; 02-28-2006 at 07:44 PM. |

Re: Loci
It basically means plane. It just put paper, meaning they wanted you to draw it.
