My english teacher assigned us an essay, the topic is about current music artists.

The Beatles and Elvis, they may be almost 50 years old, but we still remember them for their new way of playing music. Write about an artist today that will be remembered 50 years later for their musical achievements

Now my music is like what 60 yearolds listen too, jazz, classicrock, and some R&B, so I have no clue about todays musicans, or who is going to be remembered 50 years from now. I'm still listening to The Beatles (infact, I'm listening to them right now). So any help would be much ablied.

Also, I don't want people like Snoop Dog, and the like. I want someone who has really changed music we listen to today, and is preferably at the top of their career.

Well, as much as I hate to admit it, Britney Spears will probably be remembered for a long while. The reason she's so famous in the first place is because she was one of the first people to do that upbeat poppy kind of music that's not all happy-go-lucky but has "grown up" lyrics. Kind of like R&B mixed with EuroPop.

Christina Aguilera's music is going along the same tracks as Britney's, but Christina is way more respected than Britney is.

The Rock genre is a little harder to figure out. I'm thinking, Evanescence (sp?) will probably be remembered for a while. The Killers is also huge. Green Day might be considered a little old school, but they're probably at the pinnacle of their popularity. That band is HUGE, it's monster. They've been going for a while also.

Another Pop icon that will most likely be remembered is Avril Lavigne. Lots of people may not like her, but they still know who she is right?

Yea, Green Day, although way over-rated, is the # 1 band in the world at this point the way i see it. Apparently going from normal to wearing mascara and ties with t-shirts will get u a lot of publicity in the world and you will go far. They'd be pretty easy to do too. Just watch their story on VH1, i believe it's called Warped.

I prefer Jimi Hendrix myself, but he went and killed himself, like all the greats.

Current bands like Gwen Stefani, formerly No Doubt, would be a good thing to include because she has been around a long time, and she currently did a concert here. Eminem has been around a few years and rumor has it he's going to retire. I personally think it's a good idea for him to retire now because I still like his music, going back to being at the top of their career. He also has two little girls that need him to stay home and focus on them. I know you said you don't want Snoop Dog, but Marshal Mathers himself, changed his life, going from poor to raising his little girl the way he wanted to, giving her, and now her sister too, a better life.

Slipknot are huge - you should definitely include them in some way.

Hey, thanks everyone, I ended up doing the Dave Matthews Band becasue I actually know who they are, I pretty much made up most of the essay using pleasing words like origonal and inspiring.
