The Mighty Boosh, a gift from across the pond.

I've been religiously watching the show since it started airing on Adult Swim. The dialogue is so well written that I find a new genius line every time I re-watch an episode. The whole straight laced uptight character clashing with an over the top free spirited character, has never been done better. The two characters, Howard Moon and Vince Noir, even have a very strikingly different look that contrasts excellently on screen. Thoughts?

The Hitcher > Everybody else.

The best episodes have The Hitcher in them, I think. Though the episode with Howard getting into a boxing match with a kangaroo is close.

The show's extremely clever and definitely unique.

Just not funny.

I usually try to stay away from everything on Audlt Swim bar King of the Hill and The Venture Bros. but maybe I'll give this a try. I don't know though, cause Adult Swim has a bad reputation, I've never watched a 15-minute show on Adult Swim that was actually GOOD.

Uh. Harvey Birdman, much? Robot Chicken (usually)?

Besides, The Mighty Boosh is full-length.

The only reason I watched Adult Swim is because they used to have Death Note on it.

Re: The Mighty Boosh, a gift from across the pond.

The Mighty Boosh is probably one of the most overrated comedies in recent years. It's an incredibly marmite programme, and if you are one of the people that doesn't love it but doesn't hate it (such as myself), you'll find the jokes very hit-and-miss, with the large majority being misses. The scripts seem to be very poorly written, with most of the gags being random words stringed together in a lazy and cheap attempt at being humorous.

The only reason the show seems as highly rated as it does is because all the emo and scene kids think it's a godsend and the best thing to hit television since it was invented.

This. ^_^ I'm one of those people. They were okay in Old Greg. Every time I watch that, I usually laugh at the funk thing. XD A ball of titties??? But that's the only thing I laugh at. It's not that great. It's okay at best. I recommend watching Shaun of The Dead instead of this. If you're looking for the British comedy thing, I suggest that over anything. =]

Re: The Mighty Boosh, a gift from across the pond.

Old Gregg was the only episode I've actually laughed at.

But for some reason, I still watch the show religiously. WHY?

If you're going to recommend a Simon Pegg/Nick Frost comedy that involves running from zombies, at least make it the right one: Spaced.

Series 3 sucked, series 1 and 2 were pretty good.

Re: The Mighty Boosh, a gift from across the pond.

My friend's and I have been long time fans from when it first aired here, often make injokes in casual conversation. I guess we liked it so much because it reflected our humor in areas. Great memories of the first series. Especially Charlie. Second series was pretty decent as well. Third series kinda sucked when they overplayed on the infrequent running jokes.

The main reson I enjoyed the show was mainly its musical and cultural references, and also some of it's abstract/stupid humour.

Don't know what the fanbase is now, but that would probably sound right. Kinda depressing.

Re: The Mighty Boosh, a gift from across the pond.

I saw them live last year. It was awesome.

Lately, though, I've foiunf Flight of the Conchords to be more enjoyable than Boosh, but quite similar in its' humour.

Re: The Mighty Boosh, a gift from across the pond.

I've found that most of Adult Swim's programming requires either the influence of weed or an open mind to enjoy. Since I'm strapped for cash, I usually keep an open mind.

Re: The Mighty Boosh, a gift from across the pond.

The Mighty Boosh is one of those shows that you either love or hate. I loved it. I'm not emo or any other stereotype you want to lob me in with. I just found it to be ridiculous in a funny way.

Now, when I say funny, I mean in most episodes I laughed a few times. I don't mean one of those terrible shows with a laugh track that goes off every three seconds.

I should also add that the version I saw had no laugh track. I watched it where a laugh track had been inserted and to be honest, found it alot less funny. There are very few shows with a laugh track that are actually funny, and most of them are British.

Re: The Mighty Boosh, a gift from across the pond.

I loved Shaun of the Dead as well. I definitely don't think The Boosh is the best thing to hit tv since it was invented, and anyone who thinks that needs to watch more television. My thread was really more about the fact that, to me, it is a good show. I've never been a huge fan of British comedy, but Mighty Boosh has inspired me to branch out.

I never heard of this show until now. couldn't sit through an episode. Might be the wrong mood, or maybe the show just sucks. Either way-
Meh.
