Should Scrubs return for a 9th season?

Well I saw the season(possibly series finale) the other night and it was avery good send off for a great show. The problem is should there be another season? Bill Lawerence thinks so

But what would Scrubs be like without Zack Braff?(and a few other cast members)

Re: Should Scrubs return for a 9th season?

I don't think further seasons are needed. I think the finale was the perfect send-off for the show.

That doesn't mean I object or won't watch further seasons. I mostly agree with Bill Lawrence's reasons for thinking going on will work and why it is a good idea for various reasons.

I read a newspaper article recently where Zach Braff says he would be happy to return for guest spots and especially to guest direct, but I think that would have to come after awhile and not right away (certainly not near the top of a ninth season). He's got to do his own thing for awhile, and it may even cheapen the farewell he got in the finale.

No no no no no no no no

Absolutely not.

All good things must end. This is my favorite show, and frankly, I love that it's over. If they continue it, it will end up sucking and it will be drawn out longer and longer. I call it the Dragon Ball effect. Look at Dragon Ball, amazing series. Then DBZ, the Saiyan, Frieza, and Cell Saga were all rather great....then the entire Dragon Ball series went downhill from there.

Right, so this was because Forte says he doesn't like himself. I want him to like himself a bit more.

Re: Should Scrubs return for a 9th season?

I never saw the eighth season. I thought it ended with season seven, at an episode that doesn't make a very good ending. The fairy tale one where Kelso for some reason is still at the hospital. I heard they had meant to have that episode earlier.

Things tend to lose their magic if they exist for long enough. Anime falls into this a lot because for some reason Japanese don't do reruns. And they have to put out episodes faster than the manga chapters come out. So it winds up screwing over the series.

Did your crystal ball tell you that, or is that just what you think will happen?

There's no way of knowing if it will suck unless it happens and it does end up being bad. I'd rather assume it is going to be good because it will likely involve pretty much all the same creative team behind it who are responsible for the five or six seasons of awesomeness that came before it.

Yes, the show in its current form with its current themes and such is done. But, like Bill Lawrence is saying, he believes it can work like ER did, where long after the main cast was gone it could still churn out quality seasons because they managed to walk that balance and shift the tone and such ever-so-slightly so that it remained good while changing.

Though I would prefer that it be over and done with now, I'm not going to object or obstain from watching the show if it has a future just because it *might* be bad. I'll see for myself. And I have faith that if anyone could pull this off, it is Bill Lawrence because everything I have heard and read from that man shows me that he has a brilliant understanding of how television works, and he knows how to work the medium.

I think so.

And, incidentally, I kinda stopped liking ER after that. Well...it was mainly the George Clooney leaving that did it.

I mean, I'll give it a shot if it happens, and I don't think it will be that bad, because it's still Scrubs. But everything that continues for too damn long ends up not good. Some things must end. That's why I prefer OAV's over actual series. OAV's actually, ya know, end.

Re: Should Scrubs return for a 9th season?

Maybe a sort of spin off show still at sacred heart but I don't think it could be scrubs without J.D

It just wouldn't be the same.

As other people said, if it went on for too long it would lose everything that made it great so just let it end and enjoy watching the older episodes again.

Season 7 was ended abruptly because of some writers' strike. That last episode was out of order, too.

Like the intern webisodes?

I haven't seen the finale yet (or the one before it) and I missed the first half of season 8, and I still haven't completely seen seasons 1 - 3, so I still have a bit to watch after this is over.

Scrubs wouldn't feel like Scrubs without JD. It would be merely a cheap knockoff. I'd still watch it though, like the consumer whore that I am.

We get them on channel 7 weekly. Episode 18 should be tomorrow night.

And I am not quite sure that link should be on ZU.

I don't think so. Most of the good material and conclusions are used up.

Compare Scrubs to Saved by the Bell and a continuation to College Years and...you can see how it would fail.

Exactly! I don't like the good show to be ruined.

No. Power Shot has decided that the finale was so beautiful it caused strange liquid to emerge from his eyes. If television ruins this I shall kill the people responsible.

If the show does return who would be the new lead? Judy Reyes is also leaving the show, and with Faison, Flynn and McGinley all shooting pilots you would think they cant continue the show with most of the cast gone.

8 seasons is quite enough. It had a great finale, let the old girl rest.

It would have to have all the old cast leaving, with those funny interns staying. I liked the webisode series Scrubs: Interns. I could see a series of webisodes being made, those would be fun.

A very small percentage of pilots made each year actually get picked up, so I think any of those three would be happy to come back to the show if their pilots aren't picked up. They gotta work, after all.

If they do use old characters (other than the B team like The Todd and Ted etc etc), they probably would play a smaller role, however. I doubt they would be as much the focus of the show anymore, because it just wouldn't be interesting story-wise. They've all become roughly the people they are going to in terms of character arcs, so it would probably have them more in a peripheral role.
