Where o' where has the real Nick gone?

There's a thread for the downfalls of Cartoon Network and Disney, but I didn't see one for Nick. You know the drill; it's all bad, so bad. The biggest thing that makes me cringe with hate, is what people said about the new show, The Mighty B!, on Nick's message boards. They say that it's just like the old (better) shows from the 90's. Do I really need to comment about this statement? We all know how this came about. Nick drugged some random kids into saying it was great.

Another thing that I was informed about from the Disney thread, was that one of my favorite shows, Rugrats, was cancelled for its spinoff, All Grown Up. I knew that they had cancelled Rugrats, but now I know why.

They made some mistakes with All Grown Up though. Where's Pepper? (Chuckie's dog if you don't remember) and I don't remember seeing Fifi on the show (The dog's name is Fifi, right?) While were on this topic, what about Tommy's other dog (One of Spike and Fifi's puppies) I don't think I've seen him?

So, do you think Nick has also gone down the Pooper?

It won't be long until it's weak enough to be overtaken by 4Kids...

I don't think the question is "Where o' where has the real Nick gone?" . . . it's where have real cartoons in general gone?

I'm disappointed with almost every cartoon that comes out nowadays... I stick with my childhood favorites and watch them at every opportunity instead.

If I were paying for my own cable/satellite service, I would do the same. I hardly watch anything on TV nowadays, especially cartoons. The quality is just . . . crap.

Re: Where o' where has the real Nick gone?

I have one thing to add. I will have to put it in a spoiler since it is one.

Spoiler (Highlight to read):
According to Wikipedia, knower of all things on the internet, (and a small preview at the beginning of this year) Nick is making a new show about the movie, Madagascar. Now I want you guys to imagine what a new show based on a movie is usually like. It has all the characters and is revolves around the main characters of the movie, right? Not with this show, oh no, that would make sense and be good. It's supposedly(because things could change) about the Penguins and their adventures. Why couldn't they use the MAIN CHARACTERS! I just don't think that's a smart move. This is gonna turn out like Tak and the Power of Juju, which is the lowest rated shows on Nick. You know how in that show they got alot of things wrong. I never played the games all that much, but one of my friends loves the games and plays them often.

Well, I just wanted to add that minor rant. If you want to check the actual truth (if you don't believe me) go to the following link.

Re: Where o' where has the real Nick gone?

I'll admit that "Nick" is barely watchable, but was it really that much better ten years ago? I think the only reason why most people dislike the new shows is because they miss the old shows. Notice how most of the people complaining about it are people who grew up watching the old shows on Nickelodeon when they were really small? The only audience that find Nickelodeon entertaining are children. (Which should be the case. That's their target audience.) So, you enjoyed the shows that you watched as a kid in 1998 the same way that kids nowadays enjoy the shows they watch in the year 2008. I'm sure in 2018, you'll be getting a whole swarm of adolescents saying: "I miss the good old days when Penguins! and iCarly were on." Just you wait.

Yeah, so I highly doubt the problem is that Nickelodeon is starting to suck. I think the problem is that most people who watched Nickelodeon in the 90s have grown out of the cartoons on that channel. (I know I have.) They can't be entertained by the newer shows because they've outgrown watching such shows, but would rather watch older shows because of the feeling of nostalgia the viewer gets from remembering a time when he/she did enjoy watching such shows.

Basically, the only kids shows you are ever going to appreciate are the ones you watched as a little kid.

Nah, that's not the case. I know this because I'm still in the Nickelodeon age group. I can tell you from the perspective of a kid (since I am one) that they aren't as awesome as they used to be.

Idea: How about we start a riot and destroy the Nickelodeon Studio!? Or, we sacrifice it to the TV Gods.

13 is hardly in the age group to be watching Nickelodeon. Even if you are still considered in the age group, it won't take you that long until you stop watching the channel altogether, especially with your attitude that you have about the channel now. Sure, maybe the shows that are on now AREN'T as great as they were in the late 90s/early 00s. But you can't deny that most of the dislike for the new shows comes from nostalgia that old viewers have from their childhood shows and the fact that the new shows are now in place of said childhood shows. You also can't deny that you wouldn't watch the newer shows if you were eight years younger.

I can deny it all I want. If I was eight years younger I'd be watching Magic School Bus.

In this case it's more like saving the world, but with fire, machine guns, and Mortal Combat fatalities.
