Sonic the Hedgehog Cartoons

YouTube - Way Past Cool: Sonic Intro Collection
Yes, as it suggests, I've got into watching some of those classics. Sonic seems to be one of the only VG characters to have multiple series. Well, other than Pokemon, but at least sonic didn't IMMEDIATELY turn to crap afterwards...
Which ones are your favourite?
Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog - It's really funny, brilliant really. It has the same style as Looney Tunes, which is why it's classic. I also love the voices, especially Long John Baldrey's voice for Robotnik/"Eggman". Scratch/Grounder were also very origional.
Sonic the Hedgehog- I only watched a few of these back in the day, but I must say I'm impressed. Sure, it's not as humorous as the first, but it had good sequences and was well-balanced. Robotnik's voice wasn't bad either.
Sonic Underground- This was the one I grew up with watching. Catchy tune, and was fun to watch overall. I think the voice of Grounder himself was portrayed as this version's Robotnik.
Sonic X- The show is serious garbage. The voices stink; Knuckles is unimaginable, Robotnik/Eggman WAS to be voiced by Deem Bristow, but was rather a craptacular performance by Mike Pollok. Now that Deem himself is dead, they took over the rest oft he series, and I'm rather unhappy with it...
The first episode was fine for the moment, seeming like a regular "Robotnik-vs-Sonic" thing, but....
WTF?
They end up on Earth and everything just turns terrible from that point on. Instead of an adventure with our favorite blue hedgehog, 80% of the time goes to humans we don't even care about. This doesn't feel like watching Sonic. The intro's as good as it gets...

So without so much reviewing, which ones did you like?

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog Cartoons

To be honest, I don't remember if it was "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" or "Sonic the Hedgehog" that I watched back in the day. I have a feeling it was the first of the two, though. I just know that I was a young child when I watched it on TV every weekend, which would make sense since they were both airing in 1993 (making me four years old).

Either way, I absolutely adored the series. I was always waiting for the next episode to come out. :3

The box set for "Sonic the Hedgehog" is at my local Wal-Mart, so I plan to buy that the first chance I get. I hope to see the same for "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" sometime in the future, as I would love to own both classics.

How much is it on for?
Well, I'll just tell you: the first one is definately funny, being alot like Looney Tunes. You can see some episodes on Youtube. Or rather Poops...

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog Cartoons

I think it's going for between $20 and $30; I can't remember an exact price.

I really want to watch the two of these installments again. I miss it! I wish I could watch them online, but that'll have to wait until mid-August when I have access to high speed at my university.

I used to love one of the series, I think it was Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. Well whatever series it was, I remember he had a real craving for chili dogs. Too bad blockbuster doesn't stock these cartoons anymore.

Yeah, it was definitely Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog that had the chili dogs. That's one thing I can remember.

You can always look online for them if you really want to watch/own them like I wish I did. :P

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog Cartoons

I remember I used to watch a Sonic cartoon a lot when I was little... I think I watched all the ones except that last anime one. I usually watched The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog every Saturday morning, and I didn't miss Sonic Underground either. I loved how their instruments worked like weapons and I loved Sonia. I've only watched the one with Sally on it online though, and like only one episode but I still think it was good. I grew up watching either of the two I mentioned.

I haven't watched Sonic X but I don't think I'm interested in seeing a show that's completely different from the initial concept of Sonic where now it's all gone to his head and he's an egotistical jerk, and with a million new characters and *legasp* HUMANS. It just doesn't feel right.

I saw the first episode of Sonic X, and after being raised on the first two seasons of Sonic, I thought it was just blasphemy. I'm sure they were going for the whole "Sonic needs a revamp" thing or something, since you can't spout out the same material for several seasons, but that was the completely wrong way of doing so.

I'm sure to a little kid that has never seen the originals, this would be a fine cartoon to watch, but I can't make myself do it again. D:

Yeah, if the new show isn't right they just shouldn't make Sonic shows anymore. I'm conformed with the old shows, and besides, the new Sonic is shallow and narcissistic, and they overdo it way too much. Heck even the old games were better.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog Cartoons

It probably gets as good as the theme song. I think.

Here are the reasons Sonic X fails (I posted this on the Utopia earlier, but it got erased):
-****ty voices (Sonic sounds annoying, Rouge sounds likea 40-year old hooker, Eggman's voice is used as the narrorator, King of Soleana, and the "guide" in the new Sonic game. And it's bad enough...)
-Human characters. I mean, WHY do we need to see that pointless Chris kid in about 80% of the time?
-It's owned by 4kids. Cartoon-****ing rapists.
-The fact it's taking place on Earth. What ever happened to Mobius? I had hope on the first episode, but they're...on Earth. I certainly wouldn't call it Sonic X. I'd call it Sonic...Earth.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog Cartoons

I used to watch the more comedy-focused one. Brings back memories.

I only saw a few episodes of the comics-based one, but it was awesome. Robotnik was far more of a 'true' villain, and there was more of a reason for Sonic and his buddies to battle him.

Sonic Underground; meh. Didn't like the whole "rock band" thing.

Sonic X is a piece of ****. The most boring show ever made. Indeed, why are we seeing some kid most of the time, and not the main character?

Also, Robotnik is a far better name for the character than Eggman. Seriously.

I think so too. Robotnik sounds more metal than dumb ol' Eggman. I also still call him that...

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog Cartoons

I actually kind of liked Sonic X, but then again, I only saw one episode and it was the 'pilot'...

I absolutely loved The adventures of sonic the hedgehog, and sonic the hedgehog. Takes me back to better times...

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog Cartoons

I remember watching Sonic X on Saturday mornings. I liked it, but probably only because I was little and didn't know any better.

As annoying as some of the voices are, I liked Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog best, though.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog Cartoons

I really liked Sonic X. For the most part, it stayed true to the Sonic Adventure series, after which it got its own original plot.
