Mr. Bean is a comedy - and part of the reason he doesn't talk is for comedic effect. It's a totally different role to that of Link, who I am pretty sure is supposed to be taken a bit more seriously...

Part of the reason Mr Bean doesn't talk is because the series is a physical comedy.

Surely the idea could cross over to other genres. Zelda shows could be more about physical action than verbal, or whatever it would be about.

I'm not sure any of that second paragraph made sense at all.

What I was trying to say is that because Mr. Bean is a comedy, character development isn't quite as important as it would be in a "properly made" Zelda cartoon series.

Re: Why did they stop making the zelda cartoons?

I think that an entirely silent Zelda cartoon or show or whatever is feasable (though doubtful there'd be a market for it), but one where every character except Link talks wouldn't work.

The reason why it works in the games is because a) You have the other characters filling in this dialogue "Will you do this?...What's that, you say you will? Huzzah!" or b) The more immersed gamers may fill in what they would expect Link to say in their heads. In a show it just wouldn't work, it would sound poorly written and hokey.

I agree on that one. Spongebob is ****ing awesome.
Sugarpoultry, why would anyone have a main character that doesn't talk?
I mean, games and television are two different things...

Honestly, I don't know what all of you are talking about. Personally, I found the plots to be incredibly philosophical and complex. The characters were deep, and Link's voice actor was a true thespian.

Proof.

1:18 is amazing.

Re: Why did they stop making the zelda cartoons?

Well I wouldnt mind if Link talked if it was for an anime.

We just need a good VA and some good writers.

Yes, but in her mind, Legend of Zelda and Legend of Zelda are the same thing. So every one should be exactly the same.

Good if done right.

I think that making a Zelda cartoon or anime with Link talking could work if it is done right. The old cartoon series just didn't do it right and the god awful CDi games didn't fair much better. They just need to find some one who will get it right.

Off topicish moment: In my eyes, just about every cartoon that Nick and Cartoon Network are spitting out lately lack moral values and is just brain-rotting.

Re: Why did they stop making the zelda cartoons?

Yeah well, the Legend of Zeld acartoon didn't have many fans. Without the fans there are no cartoons. But I disagree I believe that it is never too late to start all over again, now there is more detail in Zelda than the first classic for NES.

Re: Why did they stop making the zelda cartoons?

Link didn't act the way a gamer would think he'd act. Ganon wasn't intimidating at all.

It's never too late to try again. However, they'd have to work hard to show people it would work. Make the episodes go along with the games, which would be much easier nowadays, since the series is 20 years old and there have been over a dozen games.

Make Link act more like a chivalrous knight, or a roughneck swordsman. Not some goof whose sole goal in life is to get kissed.

Also make Ganon/dorf scary. Like Skeletor scary, or Cruella DeVille scary. Maybe even Sephiroth scary.

Re: Why did they stop making the zelda cartoons?

What would you think if they made a new one where link did not talk the Princess wasn't so annoying and ganon was ganondorf and there were 3 triforces insyead of 2 like there were. Also if they put it lined up with the games
