Oh, and I did rather like how they used all the Christmas-related killing machines :XD

Doctor Who is the last of his kind, the Time Lords. He travels through time with his TARDIS(i dont remember what it stands for) that looks like an old Blue Police Box thing from London.

He simply goes by the name 'Doctor'. He has taken upon himself to defend the world from aliens and other things that could cause some serious problems to Earth.

So the episodes take place pretty much from the forming of Earth to the very day its destroyed. He also travels to other planets and such.

He also usually travels with a female companion.

Of course this is a general idea of the show. I could be wrong on a few things, if so someone more informed then me is welcome to correct my errors.

Also I doubt Rose Taylor is going to come back. Of course its not entirely impossible and out of the question. I just doubt it.

I did tear up myself, maybe even a tear or two rolled down my cheek when the final rift was closed.

Actually.

Spoiler (Highlight to read):
Rose is intended to come back not in this season, but at some point in the series of specials that will be replacing this coming one. This year we have a number of returns from the new series, including Martha, Donna, and Jack. And obviously, during Time Crash, we all saw Doctor Number Five. That was killer.

I'm quite enthusiastic about this coming season but not so thrilled about Donna- still, it'll be good to have a companion in the new series who is not in love with the Doctor. I don't think she will be. Or, I hope she won't be.

On a side-note, if anyone's keeping up with Torchwood... did y'alls see the episodes with Martha Jones as a member of the Team? I thought the was good in the first one, but she was kind of sort of completely ineffectual in Dead Man Walking. Ah, well.

It stands for Time and Relative Dimension in Space. I haven't really been keeping up with the news about the new season, but it would be pretty nice if Rose came back. There are other characters that I would like to see as well.

Spoiler (Highlight to read):
My favorite part of the series so far was when the Master returned and took over the earth. Of course, the Doctor, Martha, and Jack found a way to stop him.

I am officially the greatest Whovian ever... I have all the new episodes, and all the old ones which survive.

The best docter was Peter Davison.

Oh I was not aware of that. I rarely keep up with behind the scenes type stuff like this. Sometimes I will catch an article or interview, so I am often out of the loop. I do hope she comes back though, was really sad when the Doctor had to close the rift thing. Although I did get a great laugh when that one girl in the wedding dress appears in the TARDIS. Not sure her name because I am terrible with names

Heh which reminds me of the Titanic ending to the recent season. Or the most recent one that came to America. I really have no idea how it all works

I have only seen the recent two Dr. Who. If it were not for the SciFi channel I highly doubt I would have ever seen the show to begin with!

Did anyone see the xmas special with Kylie Minogue? that was good. Can not wait till it starts. Anyway got torchwd to watch at the moment Martha Jones is in that. Anyone watch that? Did anybody else see the Series Four Premier?

I thought it was alright. Donna wasn't nearly as annoying as I thought she'd be- I actually thought she was pretty funny, and I'm really hoping she keeps her end of the "I want a mate" bargain, because we certainly do not want another Martha or Rose situation.

Spoiler (Highlight to read):
The whole "MY CHILDRENNNNN" deal, however, was a little bit predictable. I feel like I've seen that concept quite a few times in the new season, although maybe it was just the once. The little fat things were daaaamn cute, though.

ALSO: (AND OMGWTFBBQ if you have yet to see the episode, do not, under ANY circumstances, highlight this text. I accidentally had this tidbit spoiled for me and WAS NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT.)

Spoiler (Highlight to read):
complete and total mindfreak right there at the end with Rose coming back. I was pretty sure she wouldn't come back until next season's episodes, but lo and behold, there she was. When I looked this up on youtube (I don't get BBC or BBCA at home so I generally watch it streaming online) I had it spoiled for me just by a video clip title, but I thought it might be a hoax or a music video or something so I wasn't sure... couldn't believe it was true.

I think it's just a teaser, though. I don't think they'll be expanding on it until late in the series- at least not next episode, it looks like. Still. Way to taunt us, Russel T. Not. Cool. :<

Overall, it looks like this season will be okay. I'm a huge HUGE fan of last season (I feel like I'm in the minority, but I definately prefer Martha to Rose) and last season's premier was TOPS (so many great Doctor lines, it was unbelievable) but this one could shape up to be better than some fans have expected.

Yay :>

I thought the premier yesterday was completely ridiculous. The concept of the episode was stupid and totally clichéd, and the CGI just looked plain silly. I'm always willing to accept creative license with SciFi things like Doctor Who.... but sometimes Russell T Davies just goes over the top.

The only good bits about the episode were the interactions between The Doctor and Donna, and that little bit at the end which has managed to keep my interest in the upcoming series.

Well, it looks like the CBC has decided to not show Season 4 over here, and is no longer listed as a partner in the show's credits.

So, yeah, no more Who for me. ><

Well, without Youtube, anyways.

I actually liked the episode. Camp is fun from time to time. So long as every episode isn't like it I think it'll be fine.

I also really liked the mimed conversation and the conclusion to it.

Yeah, the mimed conversation was brilliant. Didn't like much else of the episode though.

Second episode was a little bit better... I mainly still watching the series now in hope of the later episodes being better than the early ones, as per usual, and also to see how that character's storyline develops.

Well, Episode 2 was a nice return to the more serious stuff.

I don't really like the new companion though, she just gets on my nerves a bit.

Though, to be fair, that was only at the start, she got better later on.

Christopher Eccleston. No contest.

In other news, Doctor Who is awesome, but I persist that the first series out of the newer ones is easily the best. Some episodes in the later series just grate on me, and they've never really hit that level of epic apart from in The Satan Pit two-parter and with the end of Series 3.

Also: Catherine Tate must die. Seriously.

Yeah, I don't think Catherine Tate is the best assistant really.

She was alright as a one off, but no matter how hard she tries, a serious role will never suit her.

Doctor Who is the longest-running sci-fi show on television. Only recently started airing in America however.

Eh, she wasn't bad at the serious parts.

It's when she was trying to be funny that it got annoying.

Also: I suspect that there's going to be a running gag about the Doctor and her being confused as husband/wife. It was in this one, and the preview for the next one showed that it happens there, too.

Oh, and anyone taking bets that
Spoiler (Highlight to read):
Rose's return is going to directly cause (or, in fact be) the crisis for the series finale? I mean, she appeared in the first episode, and one of the seers says to the Dr. "She has returned." (Or something like that). Given the show's habit of dropping not-so-subtle hints about the finale...

Edit: As for what Dr. Who is, well, yeah, it's the longest running Sci-Fi show on television.

However, in the mid-80s it got put on hiatus due to failing ratings.

Three years ago it was revived and re-imagined as a bit more serious than it had been in the past.

Anyways, the plot is essentially this: The Doctor is an alien (a "Time lord") who has a spaceship (the TARDIS) that can teleport through time and space. However, it looks like a phone booth due to a malfunction. (Well, a police box, but same idea.)

Anyways, he travels through time with human companions and saves the universe and so on. It's an excellent show with a nice blend of fun and serious moments.
