Re: DR. WHO

Ahh Doctor Who *heart*

My dad has most of the episodes on tape (and now he has downloaded all he can) and about once every 6 months when I was growing up he would watch them all. I used to watch them all with him too. Good times

His favourite doctor is the fourth (Tom Baker), but I like the the third (Jon Pertwee). There were some damn good episodes in those years.

The revival is good... not great. I wish they'd take a few episodes and visit a planet other than earth... that'd be nice.

Oh and for those that care
Spoiler (Highlight to read):
Rose is returning for episodes 11-13 iirc

Presumably only inhabited worlds like the Earth would do, but a line of dialogue establishing that would've been nice.

In addition, I found the...atmosphere-fixer to be kinda silly.

And, finally, the Dr. claims to have set it for "Sontaran atmosphere", yet Donna and the genius kid can both breathe it just fine, so it's presumably almost identical to Earth's atmosphere anyways...

Edit: Oh, I think perhaps "Awesome, but impractical" more applies to Davies' work.
I'd say Earth probably has the right conditions, but it does kind of annoy me that Earth is the centre of the universe as far as Doctor Who is concerned sometimes.

The atmospheric thingymajig probably worked that way because most of the gas had moved into the upper atmosphere, but again they didn't explain that either. But damned if it didn't look cool.

Sontaran air also probably has an extra gas in it which may not be something the Sontarans need, but is there anyway. Like nitrogen here. But I think we're making excuses for the writer's plotholes.

Also, I particularly liked it when they asked why the Doctor couldn't just send it up on a delay.
Spoiler (Highlight to read):
"I have to give them a choice."
I just found that pretty powerful in its own way.

Er, but that doesn't explain anything.

She was a brainwashed double-agent for the Sontarans who knew that if she didn't do anything she'd die.

So...she doesn't do anything.

We saw how much the Sontarans like to gloat though. And did she know that Martha was keeping her alive?

Re: DR. WHO

It looks like the Doctor's Daughter is going to be another questionable BBC spin-off thing.

That's kind of where they left it. She annoys me so much.

And so does Martha, now.

Re: DR. WHO

Well, presumably, she is Susan's mother. So I would actually like further explanation about the Doctor's Daughter. I'm glad they are doing this, though. The period of pre-Doctor 1, and the period after Doctor 8 but before 9, are a little unexplained, IMO, and this episode helped clear at least some of the obscuring mists of time.

No it didn't. This "daughter" is completely different to his original daughter and granddaughter. They actually said that.

And I think that as a recurring character she could be quite good, if annoying, but if they do a spin-off with her that'll just be infuriating. I can't see her surviving a whole series by herself, but coming in now and again in Doctor Who wouldn't be too bad.

Re: DR. WHO

They said his previous family died. We know full well Susan isn't dead, because she stayed behind, and therefore never could have become involved in the Time War. Ergo, she isn't from his previous family.

Re: DR. WHO

Well, I didn't like this latest episode. I'm not sure why, I can't point to any part of it and say that it doesn't work, but somehow it just didn't come together.

That said, I think I'll like the next episode (even if it's apparently subscribing to the view that mystery authors must be good detectives) just because I've read quite a few Agatha Christie books, so I'll hopefully catch all the in-jokes they're sure to fill it with.

Re: DR. WHO

I miss rose so much, i can't wait to see the last episode of the season. I want all the girls (Rose Martha Donna, ect..ahaha even Captain Jack) to fight for the doctor. Ok, I have a question for all you people "Who is your favorite who partner" out of that list above? By the way this season rocks.

Re: DR. WHO

Oh, easily Martha. I dunno, I just didn't like Rose that much. (And, what, no companions from before the revival? Not that I know any of them, but still.)

Donna is starting to grow on me a bit, though, I think they've realized that comedy isn't her forte and are actually writing her decent lines.

Re: DR. WHO

Really? Martha, I sorta felt sorry for her. She came on the show while the Dr. was morning the loss of rose. He could not really build a strong relationship with her, but i can understand why you would like her the best. Donna, on the other hand... she seems slightly to pushy, and i am not sure how i feel about her yet.

That has nothing to do with her mother, however. Who may have died well before the series even began, hence why she might be in the care of her grandfather.

Fave companion? Possibly Liz Shaw, but I couldn't tell you why. Her or Rose, but I'm not keen on the idea of the Doctor having a romantic relationship with his companions either way.

I can foresee that this Agatha Christie one will suck. I'm not keen on historical figures being included in Doctor Who. Wasn't keen on the Dickens one, probably the lowest point of S1, and the Shakespeare one was just terrible in S3. In S2 we had Madame de Pompadour which wasn't bad, but the figure in question was interchangeable if you ask me since it was more about the Doctor's character development than the story itself.

She still had a couple of lines in that last episode that nearly made me cry they were so cringeworthy.

That last episode, was again decent but should've been so much better. Another race of aliens that has gone completely unexplained... ugh. And while the basics of the plot had potential to make a good episode it was executed very poorly. Terraforming is a stupid enough concept, without having a magic gas in a glass ball that magically does it.

Also, it would've been better if the Doctor's daught had actually died at the end of he episode. Although she's probably just there to show that the Doctor will find someway to cheat the system and regenerate again.

Re: DR. WHO

I honestly have seen none of the recent episodes anything more than mediocre. They have the climax, but not any kind of depth to carry that.

And if people are terraforming and the generations are rolling 20 generations of fit mid-20s humans or more a day, how is there an old guy? He obviously wasn't from the first humans, 'cause he knew no more than the rest of them did.

I'm looking forward to the Moffat episode, he's the best writer by far.
