Moonlight

This is definitely my favorite show ever, of all time. It's like watching the best movie ever...except it's not a movie. It's a TV show. And, TV shows have more hours than movies. Thus, it is much, much better than any movie I have ever watched. The actors are some of the most amazing actors I've ever seen (Alex O'Loughlin and Sophia Myles). They get so into character, and are so overwhelmingly in character and emotional that I even cried for them. Basically, it's a about a vampire (Alex, who's character is Mick St. John) who was turned when he was thirty on his wedding night around 1950. He's been alive for about 85 years now and never wanted to be a vampire, but since he can't turn back, he uses his abilities to help solve crimes as a PI. In the first episode he happens to meet Beth Turner (Sophia Myles), a little girl he saved from a kidnapping almost twenty years ago. Obviously, she's now about 30. Anyways, they start hanging around with each other because Beth was the reason he supposedly murdered his ex-wife (who turned him). As the season progresses, it's obvious that Mick and Beth have a huge attraction to eachother. But then, a dead ringer for Coraline (Mick's ex wife) turns up, complicating the mess. After all, Coraline did kidnap Beth. What to do, what to do?
Best show. Ever.

You guys ever watched it?
Please say yes. And if you haven't, please do.
You can watch full episodes on CBS' website.
Moonlight on CBS.com - Home

It comes on Friday nights at 9 pm eastern time on CBS. But, it won't be back till December 14th which makes me very angry. D:

I haven't decided on whether or not I'm going to watch this show. It didn't make it onto my regular watching schedule, because there was no space for it, but as with every new show this season, It was under consideration, and may or may not be watched in the future.

The mental argument pretty much goes like this:

On one hand, I don't think that any Vampire detective show could be better than Angel. It's a show that only got consistantly better as I watched it, and since watching it has aged quite well in my mind. It had superb character development, the sharp writing that can be expected from any Mutant Enemy or Joss Whedon project, and sports the best series finale I have ever seen.

On the other hand, even though the general concept is the same, it doesn't mean that Moonlight can't be different and good in its own right. While I doubt it can do it as well, it doesn't mean it can't tell a good story. If Angel proved anything, it's that the concept of a vampire PI can work, and it works well (I am aware that there have been other shows before Angel with the concept, but they don't factor in because I haven't seen them).

I strongly urge you watch this, nevertheless.

And, I have heard of Angel, but never watched it.

As you said about Angel, Moonlight consistently gets better. The first episode was eh, but they kept progressing and progressing. The character development, as I've said, is quite amazing, and you really end up feeling deeply for the characters. Give it a try. :]

By the way, I might as well post this:

Well, I may just check it out. I don't feel like starting a new series until the winter break comes, and this show would only be maybe a dozen episodes in probably. My obsession with vampire-detectives may be stated by it.

But I must ask, is it a serial or is episodic? Rather, is each episode mostly there to progress the overall storyline of the season, or does each episode stand on its own, each one dealing with an individual case or mystery? I know that there are probably elements of both, but which is most prevalent?

Yeah, it's only scheduled for a dozen so far.

You're correct, it does have elements of both. There is a new case each episode, buts storyline surrounds it. For instance, in the last episode, Mick and Beth wanted to find out if someone was really Coraline or not, so they started investigating that. Mick worked on a completely different case with 'Coraline' while Beth tried to find out who she really was. In the midst of all this, things between Mick and 'Coraline' got a little steamy, Beth gets jealous, does something terrible to Coraline, etc, etc. After all, Coraline did kidnap her as a child. And, the next episode is all about Mick's best (vampire) friend and an arson he got involved with. Following that is one about Beth's boyfriend (who is not Mick), etc. etc.

So it's definitely more episodic.
