I don't think so. The Simpsons remain fantastic, no matter what happens, although I'd honestly have to admit, the newer seasons are kind of cliché. They usually contain old jokes from the previous seasons, the base, that is.

As that is, South Park's humor actually doesn't even come in comparison with the Simpsons, in my personal opinion. Family Guy on the other hand does, it frequently contains fresh and new animated scenes, and amazingly enough, it never gets old, imo.

Well, I'd be surprised if they could come up with new jokes on a regular basis. I do have to admit that I haven't been watching any new Simpsons episodes lately, but it still beats South Park. I don't like Family Guy that much, so i can't really say anything about that.

But to sum it up, The Simpsons might be getting old, but it was quite inevitable. I mean, it has been going on for ages. Still, the one of the best shows around.

Family Guy sucks. How can you compare The Simpsons to such tripe. Although I do admit, The Simpsons humour is going dry, Family Guy and South Park still hasn't over-taken it. I think you're forgetting how huge The Simpsons really is.

It's obvious that after almost 20 years, a show is going to lag a little. While the episodes of the past few seasons haven't really gone near the excellence of the episodes that happened during the Golden Years, it has been picking up again in just general humour in my eyes. While it isn't as referential and commentative on current events anymore (though in some instances it still is, just not to the extent that it used to), and more reliant on its own mythos for its humour, I still find it to be the funniest out of itself, South Park, or Family Guy.

South Park is actually quite clever in a lot of instances, but really has a very particular and individual way of looking at the issues or events that it comments on. It's a show that really has only gotten better with age if you are a fan, but if you were never a huge fan to begin with (like myself, though I think the movie is brilliant), than you'll find it amusing and clever, but it just really isn't something to tune into every week.

Family Guy, on the complete opposite end, is just not my cup of tea at all. The jokes and plots are mostly rehashes of jokes that have appeared already on other shows, or even in earlier episodes of itself. Rather than have jokes that derive from the natural progression of plot, they rely on zany flashbacks or random occurances that just happen to come out of nowhere at the right time. The commentary on issues and current events is weak at best, and done much better on both The Simpsons and South Park.

In my eyes, The Simpsons is well within its rights to be lagging a little after 20 years of being on the air, but it actually has been improving the past few seasons. Whether or not this season will continue that trend remains to be seen.

South Parks advantge is ofcourse how quickly its animated meaning it can really make use of current events. All the best episodes are based on this but as a result it means its going to be dated fairly quickly. Simpsons and Family Guy however will have a timeless quality because issues have to be more generalised when discussed, Simpsons will always be better than Family Guy to me, I even consider American Dad to be a superior show (more cohesion even if its more a cliched sitcom). And in my opinion the Worst Episode of The Simpsons was the one where the simspons visit Africa which was years and years ago. Still better than most over television that episode though. Recently we have actual seen a return to form especially early the season just been with prehaps a slight but noticable drop in quality in epsiodes that were perhaps produced at the same time as the movie.

And even that episode still has the line, "So, I noticed your home smells of feces...and not just monkey feces, either!"

It's been old. The show has always been samey and boring, and I never liked it.

I watch South Park. Since it's episodes are based on real events and issues, it never gets boring.

The Simpsons started in the late 80s actually.

And of course its gotten old the series has been on for 20 years. There is only so much they can write about.

The show has gotten lame but it still has its moments.

The Simpsons, to me, will never die, and I think they're in a little "deadline" phase for ideas, although I find it amazing that they're still doing THIS well. This happened before in 12 and 13, I believe. In my opinion, it's still gold, and with the movie that came out, it's as good as ever. Simpsons fans, I salute thee!
South Park is like ever: kicking ass like never before! I love the series, and they never let me down. Unfortunately, they MIGHT not be up for another season after this. All we could do is pray.
Family Guy? Well.....it sucks now. I said it. Rage and Flame these great threads if you must, but I think in the beginning, it was really good, and actually surpassed the Simpsons from that point, but after the new seasons started, they dropped. It was seriously different. Stewie isn't that take-over-the-world-and-kill-Lois type anymore, but a steriotypical "gay". Those "one-time" characters like "Herbert the Pervert" and "Greased-Up Deaf Guy" made good acts, but now it's just the same thing and pretty predictable. Peter isn't too funny anymore either, and he was an idolized character to the show. Now, he's not just a big, fat, lazy ass, he's a big, fat, lazy ass with NO HUMOR. Most of his skits are random, and not as funny anymore. They're just....stupid. As for most of the show, it just has loooooooong skits with no humor involved (ex. "Soooo, u finishin up on that novel? Hm? You, um...started makin up characters, hm?". I believe it went this way because I only saw it once and got bored after Stewie was halfway done or so.) It has SOME funny aspects about once an episode that gives me a chuckle, but it doesn't have the gold it had before.

Matt and Trey had their contracts renewed.

Scrubs may be ending soon though.

Scrubs is ending after this season (starting the 25th) ends. It's about 18 or 19 episodes, and it'll wrap everything up and the series will be over. It's the descision of the actors and creators to have it end now.

So the only reason people such as NEO92 like family guy over the simpsons is because family guy is aimed at pre to young teens.

Simpsons target audience is a bit older, and therefor more enjoyable to people who actually like jokes and plot lines to go somewhere.

I just heard that Zach Braff would be leaving not that this would be the last season.

That was last season, Zach Braff was unsure if he wanted to go on, and the rest of the cast and crew were unsure if it made sense to go on without him. He decided to stick it out for at least last season. Then it was pretty much decided amongst the cast and crew that this season that will be starting soon would be the last so everyone could move on to new things. For a second it looked like they weren't going to get reknewed at all for their final season, but they were at the last second.

Trust me, sir, I've been following this show since it started, I'm about 99% sure that this is the last one.

Back on topic: I think it can be said that for a show that has 20 seasons under its belt and has gone through so many different writers, it has remained remarkably good. I don't know if there's been a single episode where I haven't laughed at least once. At the same time, maybe if it was any other show, one that didn't have such a huge following, perhaps it wouldn't have lasted this long, due to the quality of some of the lesser episodes, and in todays cancel-happy network days.

Simpsons is getting a little old now, but it is still a good show to watch. The classic episodes are great and some of them are better than some of the newer episodes out at the moment.

Yeah, totally, the Simpsons was one of the best shows on basic cable, but even now, there are alot of new shows that are overtaking the Simpons. I still think its's an awesome show, but the comedy is beginning to lack, and other comedys/sitcoms are taking its place.

What did you expect the shows been on since the 80's but I think the newer episodes are better than the old so it shouldn't get cancelled any time soon

I absolutley love the episodes that I grew up with but to be honest when the new episodes are showing on TV I end up getting a bit bored and end up doing something else. So yeah I could probably agree it is getting old.

I haven't seen much of the recent Simpsons episodes, but from the ones I saw a while ago it certainly seemed to be declining in quality. Thank god Ten always shows the earlier episodes at 6:00pm every day ;3 Nothing can replace "Homer Badman" for me, though ;D Best. Episode. Ever.

Now excuse me while I grab her sweet can- sweetseseseweet can.
