Clerks, the Animated Series: Just because they serveyou, does not mean they like you.

Whoops! Forgot to space the words out a bit.
My friend's B-Day was yesterday, and I gave him a Red Spartan action figure and the ONLY copy of Clerks AS I could find.
Anyways, we watched it and I found it hilarious. I don't usually watch "Clerks", but the Animated Series was HILARIOUS, maybe even better than Family Guy! (CAR FULL OF MIDGETS >_<) Unfortunately, it was only 6 episodes long. Why didn't they make more?

Re: Clerks, the Animated Series: Just because they serveyou, does not mean they like you.

I liked the series, but not as much as the two Clerks movies. I think a lot of Smith's humor and what makes the movies great was lost because it was on a network television station. Best proof of this can be found if you see Clerks: The Lost Scene, which was an animated scene meant to be a replacement for a scene that was in the first movie that could not be shown. It's far funnier than anything the animated series ever came up with.

Still, the show was ok, but was never a success. Except on DVD. On air only two episodes were actually aired before cancellation, which was due to bad ratings, bad test audience reactions from older viewers, and NBC airing the two episodes they showed out of order, including showing the second episode, "The Clipshow Wherein Dante and Randal are Locked in the Freezer and Remember Some of the Great Moments in Their Lives" which derives most of its humor from showing "flashbacks" to the first episode, before the first episode was even shown. So obviously it couldn't make much sense.

So it's not really my favourite Kevin Smith project, but it's still worth seeing if you're a fan of his stuff.

Bummer. But at least there's an animated series movie on it. I think it's called "Clerks: Sell out" Anyone know anything about it besides the "Bear Driving" and "possibly" Master shake being in it?

Bear Driving Car is going to be in the movie? Wild.

Not much is known about the animated movie because it hasn't even been written yet. Kevin Smith said his next project is a horror movie, which also hasn't been written. The only thing I know about that is that it's not about zombies. So the animated Clerks movie is still on the backburner for now.

I enjoyed the series

I loved the Clerks animated series, although it was very short lived. Now, the movies however are better.

well why would you put months of effort in writing the script for a show?

Re: Clerks, the Animated Series: Just because they serveyou, does not mean they like you.

I thought that the Clerks animated series was good as well, but no where on par with the movies. Some of the ideas in the animated series were way to over the top and felt too different from the more realistic Clerks and Clerks 2,and as said above the standards and practices of ABC (or any network tv channel) are to up tight for Smith's comedy. It was syndicated on Comedy Central ,but it was not on for long. In my opinion Smith should call Adult Swim and set up a deal.

I wish they'd bring back C:TAS. It would work on Adult Swim or Comedy Central. The reason they couldn't do too much with it originally was because it was network television, and subject to censorship and such. Jay and Silent Bob are my heroes. Prophets-> Oracle... Just one of my many sources.

I wonder how well it would do for the Comedy Network here in Canada...or even Comedy Central in the U.S.

Ahh the series was soooo funny. Especially the episode when they are in the court room and the crazy dance party happens and you see a bear driving the car and the asian guy.
